***Official Texas Rangers 2012 Thread*** (1 Viewer)

I would like to at least get past Friday before throwing in the towel.Yu is starting, and I actually feel pretty good about that game.
:goodposting:I've backed away from the ledge a bit. Cautiously optimistic that the combination of Yu, a friendly opposing pitcher, and a return home will be enough to advance to the "real playoffs".

This will be the first time the Orioles have seen Darvish. That's a good.

Beltre back at third.

5-2 against Balt this year.

Saunders has a 9.38 ERA at the Ballpark.

:banned:

Baltimore is a good matchup for a one-game playoff. They don't really have an outstanding starting pitcher. Great bullpen, though. Buck should just trot out those pen guys for 1-2 IP each. (mostly joking)

Onething i have promised myself was that I was going to enjoy my teams being good to very good. almost forgot that yeaterday.

Love the story in Sporting News saying the Tigers are the most vulnerable team.......because of questions in their starting rotation. Really? The Tigers are vulnerable for a lot of reasons, but not their starting rotation which probably scares the other teams more than anything.

ARLINGTON -- The Rangers will carry 11 pitchers for tonight's Wild Card playoff game against the Orioles.

Right-handers Tanner Scheppers, Mike Adams, Mark Lowe and Ryan Dempster are not on the list. Yu Darvish is scheduled to start, so the Rangers will have six right-handers and four left-handers backing him up.

The right-handers are Scott Feldman, Alexi Ogando, Roy Oswalt, Koji Uehara, Yoshinori Tateyama and closer Joe Nathan. The left-handers are Matt Harrison, Derek Holland, Robbie Ross and Michael Kirkman. Harrison is supposed to pitch Game 1 of the American League Division Series against the Yankees on Sunday but that won't matter if the Rangers don't win tonight.

The team that wins tonight can change its roster for the Division Series.

"We selected the group we felt gives us the best chance to win this game," general manager Jon Daniels said.

Adams was sidelined for a week with pain and numbness in his neck, shoulder and arm. Dempster started against Oakland on Wednesday and is not available to pitch. The most interesting decision was going with Tateyama over Scheppers and Lowe. Tateyama is a soft-tossing side-arming right-hander who might give the Orioles more trouble than Scheppers and Lowe, who are both hard throwers.

The Rangers will have 14 position players available, including Luis Martinez as a third catcher. Mike Olt was left off the roster because of inflammation in his right foot but outfielder Leonys Martin and infielder Jurickson Profar were included among the reserves.

RIGHT-HANDED PITCHERS (7): Yu Darvish, Scott Feldman, Joe Nathan, Alexi Ogando, Roy Oswalt, Yoshinori Tateyama, Koji Uehara

LEFT-HANDED PITCHERS (4): Matt Harrison, Derek Holland, Michael Kirkman, Robbie Ross

CATCHERS (3): Luis Martinez, Mike Napoli, Geovany Soto

INFIELDERS (6): Elvis Andrus, Adrian Beltre, Ian Kinsler, Mitch Moreland, Jurickson Profar, Michael Young

OUTFIELDERS (5): Nelson Cruz, Craig Gentry, Josh Hamilton, Leonys Martin, David Murphy

Drop Martin for another pitcher in the ALDS if they get there? Having him and Gentry seems like overkill. Moreland plays a corner in case of emergency.

Must say the hatred for Hamilton tonight is pretty sad given what he has done for this team. I mean are really supposed to believe that one missed pop up in the sun is the reason why the Rangers have been in a complete choking free fall.

Hamilton won the rangers so many more games than he lost. Rangers choked the lead away by their play in September.

My padres will gladly take Hamilton off your hands!

You have no idea what you are talking about. He is not the sole reason for the free fall, but a very big contributor to it. Move along.

He's also the main reason that franchise was relevant for the first time in 40 years.

Tough week in the Big D - Monday night - going 0-3 in Oakland and now this

Hard to believe that after adding Darvish that this team would collapse like this - the locker room must be poison by now and an overhaul looks in order.

They were plenty relevant in the 90's with those 'roid riddled teams

Again. He was a big contributor to that too... When healthy. There are plenty of other reasons this team is relevant. Mark Texiera comes to mind.

Not as much s people who don't watch/follow the team day-in, day -out think. He is the INSANEly hot chick, who at times is all that, but just always has some drama/issue always around. People who don't know better focus on the hot, and miss the stuff you know when you live with it everyday.

Hey I'm sure you guys will get on fine without him. Lot of talent there. Still...booing him is ridiculous.

Agreed. I posted as much on here this summer when he got booed the first time and feel the same today. However, his lack of effort and attitude has gotten old. Time for a fresh start for he and Texas.

It's hilarious to me that a team is that good for that long...and gets rewarded with a one game playoff. Joke.

Hamilton deserved the boos. He's a head case that has checked out.

God help any team that signs him to a big contract that is more than 2 years.

What would have happened before the new format? Baltimore and Texas both finished with the same record in the wild card race??

I am starting to wonder when josh had his monster month and didn't get paid it sort of took the life out of things.
I stand by this. I think he was hurt the Rangers didn't at least offer to extend him at that point for 3/60. Now he will be lucky to get 3/45. I don't think the line forms to the left. Maybe Boston is interested, but who else?

AS a Boston fan, no thanks. Great talent, but not what Boston needs. They need to continue to jettison clubhouse problems, and stay out of free agency for the next couple of years (big name, long term free agents).

The Rangers just need a little roster tweaking, but they should be fine.

Wonder if any team would be interested in trading for Kinsler. Jurickson Profar can start at 2B.

I'm guessing Kinsler is injured and has been hurt most of the year. It wouldn't surprise me at all to find out he has some sort if off season surgery.

I dunno, oso. I was kind of shocked by the boos and initially thought they were unwarranted. It's not like the guy hit .220/13/45. But then, I haven't followed the Rs very closely.

What was the game a week or two ago where Hamilton made two errors in an inning? Anybody? Not sure they were official errors but he was lost out there and it was noticeable. I don't watch the Rangers so I'm guessing it was against the Angels. When I saw the Oakland gaffe I wasn't surprised. It's weird how he can check out on defense. At the plate, sure, but on fly balls? Come on.

it was in the first inning against Oakland with Perez on the mound. He let a ground ball roll through his legs to the fence. Perez didn't make it out of the first inning. Cruz also misplayed a fly ball in that inning. It wasn't scored an error though.

"I gave it my all every time I went out there" says Josh Hamilton in post game interview.

Unfortunately, no one who has paid attention down the stretch believes this. #zerocares

That's why he got booed. This wasn't some knee jerk reaction. It has been building. Sitting out key games due to energy drinks was the last straw for many. Including some in the room allegedly. The play against Oakland just put a bigger spotlight on it.

From Randy Galloway.

Then there's the ongoing roster decisions.

No, Josh Hamilton is no longer a decision.

Asked this week if there was any chance of re-signing Hamilton, one club official said, "not even if he wants to play here for free next season."

Even so, it'd be best to wait it out. Let every one cool down over the pop-up in Oakland, the verbal dust-up with Washington in the dugout following the pop-up, and now the pathetic, disinterested 0 for 4 Friday night, then see what the free-agency money will bring for Hamilton.
