***Official Texas Rangers 2012 Thread*** (1 Viewer)

Not sure I have mentioned this before, but you can find a great Rangers Podcast at:

www.dallassportsnetwork.tv

Good solid Rangers talk, both big leagues and minor league. Jamey Newberg (of course) is in the middle of the conversations.

I like this Ross kid. Nice having a left handed reliever who isn't 80 years old.
Something about his delivery irritates me his lower body movement is unconventional, and I know they never call this but he shades down the hill off the rubber before the release on like half his pitches. Bullpen is going to flame out if Darvish and Feliz can't keep PC down. They are discussing moving harrison between those two to break up the problem in one way or another.
This makes a lot of sense. Would be nice to see Feldman and Koji and even Lowe some more work. Mike Adams on pace for 113+ innings/appearances right now.

I think the bullpen will be fine. Tough to blame starting pitching when we currently lead the league in QS and our 3 non QS were outings of 5, 5.2 and 5.2. We've just had a few too many close games to start the season and had to rely on the A-team out of the pen. There will be plenty of work for Lowe and Koji and Feldman when games get out of hand for or against us. I'd actually like to see Koji come in in a 1-run situation this week and have to get out a Gonzales, Ortiz, Cabrera, Fielder type guy or 2. Need to know if he is ok or not. I don't care to see Lowe in the game at all unless we are up or down by 5 runs.I'm happy for this move since I forcasted earlier this year that Yu would pitch in the 3 slot and bought tix to the Tuesday Yankee game and Friday Angel game. I was bummed when he ended up in the 4 slot. Now it looks like I might be there for his next 2 home starts.

Tonight's Lineup:

Kinsler - 2B

Andrus - SS

Hamilton - LF

Beltre - 3B

Young - DH

Cruz- RF

Napoli - 1B

Torrealba - C

Gentry - CF

Colbra on the mound.

Love, love, LOVE that Pudge is retiring as a Ranger. Makes a case as greatest Ranger of all time. Easily one of my favorites. Would be great to see him for years and years doing something in this organization.

Oh yeah, baseball is fun.

7 solid from Dutch Oven. Ogando with 10 pitches to get through the eighth, and then the ninth. (We are just going to have to get use to butt clenching aren't we?)

6.0

Two sloppy fielding errors made that seem a lot more wheels off than it actually was. We aren't exactly throwing the Grade A Prime part of the rotation at DEET. Pen is well rested now from the thrashing. Adams should be back to a normal innings/day ratio at this point.

What is funny is that the Rangers starters are third in innings pitched (behind Oak and Sea, go figure) so the bullpen SHOULD be well rested. Wash saving Feldman (1 inning pitched) for a Yu/Feliz meltdown when he needs someone to go 5 out of the pen? Ogando now with the lead in innings pitched out of the bullpen, but I think that is how it should be. This staff really is putting up video game numbers right now.Speaking of video game numbers, when a guy adds 23 points to his BA, you have to figure he was sucking pretty bad, not hitting 0.413. Sign Josh Now.

By game 10 of the season the lineup of 1-9 Ian, Elvis, Josh, Adrian, MY, Nellie, Murph, Nap, Mitch... everyone has at least 1 HR. I wonder how soon in a season another 1-9 can claim that...

That is good baseball talk right there.

a week from today, going to my first regular season Rangers game in a long while. moved away from DFW in 1989, and i think i've only been to three games in the "new" ballpark. One was in the 2010 WS.

So which do you feel better about?

The hitting, which has scored more runs than anyone in baseball.

or

The pitching, which has given up the fewest runs in baseball.

Rotation.

I'm guessing we will see Feldman versus Nova on Wednesday. Bump Harrison to game 1 of the Rays series.

Can't really complain about your number five starter throwing a complete game and losing by one to JV in Detroit.

Get tomorrow and win another series

Very good start for Happy, excapt for one inning where i think that at times he forgot that when in trouble dial up the ~100 miler. especially with Delvin Young think he toyed too much with the off speed in that part of the game.

How long before Ogando is the closer? June? August? 2013? I have him on like seven teams and Nathan is just not the Nathan of 2006. Thoughts?

Once roles are set, OSB rarely changes them. Ogando is such a rediculous weapon where he is at right now because he can pitch multiple innings and back to back I'd needed. I don't think anyone rocks the boat right now. And if/when Narhan loses the job, Mike Adams gets the first shot.

Interesting. Adams has never closed and it goes back to your point about roles, one Adams has pretty much always played. Nathan dies soon though IMO, someone else closing by August.

Losing one game a week is acceptable.

Looks like that bunt was a foul ball, but it sure seems like up to that point the rangers have been victim to some pretty bad calls so far. Lots of 1st base calls have gone against them and that Hamilton slide home vs. the white sox come to mind. I don't think DEET had the arms to really keep in that game anyways. I assume Feldman would have been good for 50 pitches and I have no idea who they even could bring in but their bullpen catcher past that AAA spare.

What are the chances the Dutch Oven gets lit up tonight? NY has beaten the snot out of this kid in the past.

I've got tough decisions to make this week with both Holland and Darvish on my pitching staff.

I would play all Ranger starters until someone does light them up. Especially Holland.

Why does it even matter in a tie game with both of those offenses? Fielder ended the game with a ball that was caught about 10 feet in front of the RF wall.

I wish I had your confidence, but I'll be letting Holland sit tonight. His history vs NY's veteran hitters is beyond brutal. I could see a high scoring game tonight.

Detroit scored 12 runs in 29 innings
