***Official Texas Rangers 2012 Thread*** (1 Viewer)

I don't think DEET had the arms to really keep in that game anyways. I assume Feldman would have been good for 50 pitches and I have no idea who they even could bring in but their bullpen catcher past that AAA spare.
Why does it even matter in a tie game with both of those offenses? Fielder ended the game with a ball that was caught about 10 feet in front of the RF wall.
Detroit scored 12 runs in 29 innings
And obviously this is how things will stay throughout the entire season. The Detroit bats stay cold, the Detroit pitching is in complete disarray, the Texas lineup stays hot and there isn't a DL stint from someone on that offense, and the young starters are all carrying sub 3 ERA's.6 more games for these teams to play yet this summer. Looking forward to them. I'm pretty sure 3 of those fly outs the Tigers hit yesterday would have been out of the park in Arlington.

Sure and even more would have been out of the park if the game were played in Williamsport.

Question: Does Michael Young still use the Beastie Boys as his walk up music? I love Michael Young. Class act, great hitter, seems like a great teammate, and a Beastie Boys fan.

What are the chances the Dutch Oven gets lit up tonight? NY has beaten the snot out of this kid in the past.I've got tough decisions to make this week with both Holland and Darvish on my pitching staff.
I would play all Ranger starters until someone does light them up. Especially Holland.
I wish I had your confidence, but I'll be letting Holland sit tonight. His history vs NY's veteran hitters is beyond brutal. I could see a high scoring game tonight.
I tend to agree. NY got some rest as well.

Ok, so I was wrong about Holland today. Hope you didn't start him.
I did not which made me feel good. I did start Lester though which made me feel bad. Now I feel obligated to start the Yu tonight. I'm nervous to say the least.
Good job not taking my :homer: advice. Holland has just been nails for the last 12+ starts, I guess he was due for a meltdown.Starting Yu tonight I think makes some sense. But I may need to refrain from giving advice on Ranger players from here on out.

Yu is interesting. He's got the stuff to handle the Yankees. And unlike with Holland, there's no history there and the Yankee hitters have never seen Yu. A problem could be with Darvish getting wild though. I don't think there is a more patient hitting club than NY.

This is why I wouldn't start him.Good to see you loaded up on Ranger pitching though. :D

Both were value picks in my draft. Especially Holland who I took in the 16th round. Hate their ballpark but love their run support.

Since his first inning as a big leaguer, Yu Darvish has a 1.08 ERA.

Thanks to Jamey for that little nugget.

Feldman starting tonight. Will go about three and then bullpen from there on out. Feliz available out of Pen.

If I get a Robbie Ross jersey am I still out ahead of the curve, or am I a week late getting on the bandwagon?

Angels are going to really have to work hard to get to 90 wins. And 90 would be a very low bar to win the ALEast. They really are going to have to go at least 20 games over .500 from this point to September to even get remotely in the playoff picture down the stretch. With Seattle/Oakland it isn't out of the question, but still....

If they play for the wildcard I'm not really sure what the most likely wildcard is other than NY. TB looks to have the horses to take the division to me without much competition.

What a fail.

Feel free to bump this in September.

:goodposting: I don't think the Angels have hit rock bottom yet.

Dear God do we need an LAAAAAAA thread:

With two wild cards, you're never really out of it. The Angels may be an absurd 8 1/2 games behind the Texas Rangers already, but they're only four games out of a wild card berth. And, frankly, does anyone believe there is another possible wild card team in the AL West or even the AL Central? The Angels need to keep an eye on the New York Yankees, Tampa Bay Rays, Boston Red Sox and Toronto Blue Jays as much -- or more -- than on Texas. Those teams could be their biggest competition for a playoff berth. The hunch here is that, if the Angels don't qualify for a wild-card spot, the East will snatch up both. That would be a bit silly, wouldn't it? Three playoff teams from one five-team division.
Already given up on the division and rallying behind grabbing the second wild card?

I loved how Poohols got his one hit today by blooping one into the shift and didn't manage to beat out the throw to 2nd. Oops.

wait, there is a 2nd wild card this year? I thought houston had to move to the AL first to put that in or the math would be bad?

It was part of that same deal that moves Houston next season, but the playoff change happens this season. One game playoff for the two wildcard teams in each league starts now. And if I'm understanding things correctly, a team could potentially play two straight "winner takes all" games prior to the start of the regular playoffs. Say NY and TB tie for the East title. They play a one game tiebreaker to decide the division, then the loser plays in the new wildcard matchup. World Series schedule didn't change, so this would all be pretty compressed. Could be fun.

Wonder if the weekend series at home in a few weeks from 5/11-5/13 might be any fun to watch? :banned:

Wild horses and cheap strippers won't be able to keep me away from the CJ and Yu starts.

Going Friday. Hoping to see Yu v CJ.

Atmosphere was amazing last night. That Ump though was all over the place, or it sure seemed that way. Not often you have batters and pitchers protesting so much.

I do have to say though, when do you start to get a little nervous about Cruz?
