Weekend series against LAAAA is sold out.
I am going to ask some dumb baseball questions along the way this season as I am not quite as up to speed as some of you guys.. sorry in advance..Is it just chance that Yu is lining up against Ceej on Friday? Do teams try to match certain pitchers?Just seems too good to be true that on their first trip to Arlington these 2 will be squaring off.

It's just they way things lined up. Might be something more to it since they switched Yu and Harrison in the rotation, but it seems to be just how things worked out.

Never heard of this guy until now. Intriguing. Perez is :misssing: at this point.

1. OF Chris Grayson (Age 22 as of 5/4, lo-A, .387/.482/.634, 16 extra-base hits, 15% BB rate, 7 SB) – Outside of AAA veterans, Chris Grayson might have produced the best opening month in the Texas system since Johnny Whittleman in 2007. He led the organization in batting average and extra-base hits and trailed only Joey Butler in walks. Grayson showed ample power and speed for NAIA-level Lee University, but college-aged corner outfielders drafted outside the early rounds typically aren't given long leashes. Grayson beat out several other experienced outfielders for a spot on Hickory's roster and has made the most of the opportunity.

What's wrong with Napoli. I read he's sitting tonight but they're facing a lefty. You don't sit Napoli against lefties....ever.
I completely agree, but tOSB does some strange things sometimes. As long as he keeps winning, he is given a pretty long leash by the fans, media, JD, Nolan, etc.

Still not going against the lefty...
Mike Napoli is not in the Rangers starting lineup for Game 1 on Thursday.
Is it an injury thing or a RW doghouse thing?I have no idea what tOSB means.

Torrealba catches Lewis. Wash explained last night on the radio he is rewarding Snyder with another start in front of his friends and family after the great game he had Monday night. Wash is good about keeping his players engaged and rewarding them when they contribute. He is a players manager. Sometimes maddening as a fan, Especially when it means starting Vlad Guerrero in RF in the world series. But the players love him.

tOSB = the Old School Brother = Ron WashingtonAnd yep, pretty much what ctdub says is true.

Is there some minimum time between doubleheaders that MLB makes teams do? Would they push the Friday game to Sunday, or would they just shove it off to later in the season?

Yu vs. CJ

CJ vs. HAM

Yu vs. Pujols

Only 1 game of a 3 game series, only 1 game of 19 against LAAAA, only 1 game of 162.

But it's more than just 1 game.

Josh has a 2-5 night and sees his BA go down a few points, Pujols 1-5 and sees his go up a few points.
I only saw his first 3 ABs, but it was funny to see him get screwed on calls and not getting good swings, then suddenly he was 1 for 3 with 2 RBI. The RBI line drive looked like terrible contact. Things just didn't seem to be going his way last night and he still drove in 3.

YT, Snyder, Gonzalez and Gentry all in the lineup tonight.

Kinsler, Moreland, Murphy and Napoli to make up baseball's best bench tonight.

38,700 in attendance last night.

On a Monday night, school night.

Against Kansas City.

With Feldman pitching.

These are not your typical Ranger crowds of the 80s, 90s and 00s. This team has always drawn well, but this is getting insane.

That said, I hate losses like that last night. I know guys need breaks, but it felt like you were conceding the game before it was even played.

The stretch this thing is going through the next three weeks is only challenging for the number of games played. Sometimes you just have to punt. That Beltre error was huge under the circumstances. Untimely game crushing errors are starting to pile up.

Well hopefully these guys are all rested and feeling good now. Really wish Wash would give Young and Colby a couple days off. Looks like the Wednesday and Thursday games w OAK are sold out. Crazy! Need to win both.

it will be funny if the tankaroyalooza of 2012 comes back to bite us if Detroit and the rest of the AL Central keeps sucking goat balls.

I still don't like how those lineups were set for those two games. Rest one guy at a time, don't empty the benches. Yesterday was not as bad, but Monday just ridiculous.

:goodposting: Ogando continues to quietly dominate. 13 pitches for 1.1 innings with 2 Ks. ERA of 0.45. Nice outing for Koji as well. This bullpen gets me excited for what could be down the road. Colby on the other hand.

I'm too lazy to work this out, but why wasn't the spot start used to cycle Colby through to the back end where he would hit more NL parks? Or was it? Seems he may need a little rest but Perez wasn't quite ready to make a big league appearance. Seems so odd to get guys ready with the intention of prepping for double switches. Whatever.

This is beginning to worry me. I know he is still young, and the "stuff" is suppose to be there, but he is getting his ### handed to him in AAA, and it just seems like he should be here by now.Am I completely delusional about this?

He's only 21 and already in AAA. I'd be pretty patient with him this year. I honestly didn't see him pitching in the majors at all this year, did you?As far as this year in AAA so far his #s seem to be right in line with his AA splits last year where he performed well, the only big difference being his ERA is up (probably more a result of bad luck) and his K/9 are down (which could be worrying). But again, it's early.

You are right. There really is no spot for him this year, it just seems like he has been the "top pitching prospect" in the organization for the last 10 years. He was signed when he was 12, right???

Cruz' hot streak is coming soon, right?
bump
Yeah. I was really surprised to see him sit last night. When this guy heats up you ride him till he bucks ya.15 for his last 32 in the past 7 games. I could tell it was coming when he started going the other way with regularity.
He's now one of three guys to go club level twice in their career. And Josh is not one of them. Any guesses to the other two?

I'm going to say A-Rod and Mench.
