Where is the best part of the Ballpark to sit for the value of the ticket? I have some friends coming in mid-June when the Rangers are playing the Astros that want to go to one of the games. We will probably go to the Friday night game at 7PM. Trying to figure it out, given all the factors such as time of day ( heat & sun in your eyes) and sight line to the plate. We will probably be willing to pony up around $40/seat for 4 people. I was thinking lower reserved in right field but was wondering if there is something I am missing.
Fireworks night. We just went through this in the FFA. Looking at the main site and stubhub you will be damn lucky to do 4@40 anywhere in the shade as the ones on the shade side have fireworks view.

Nice comeback win. I wonder the odds of giving up 2 runs in extra innings and still winning the game.

Would be nice if Yu goes 8+ Sunday.

Oh yeah, and pay Josh now.

Very odd pitching management in that series. I think 99 times out of 100 ogando is not put in that situation.

Not to jinx him, but Joe Nathan has been outstanding after getting off to a shaky start. His demeanor on the mound is a nice change from Feliz. Nathan comes out of the bullpen with a look in his eye that he wants to kick your ### first and strike you out second. I hope the summer heat doesn't wear him down. We need him to be this good in October.

I'm really impressed with the entire pen at this point. Koji is looking like the guy we were hoping for last year. I'd like to see him perform in a tight spot with a 1-run lead. I don't trust Lowe or Yoshi with a game on the line, but everybody else seems like they a lock down solid right now.

I'm not sure you could really have a better closer in the AL than Nathan right now. Maybe not at the salary level he's at  ? Went last night. They finally have got the crowd control thing down cold. Rolled in at 645 from the freeway and never stopped moving till I sat my ### down in my seats.

Hicks can still kiss butt....................

Roll up to watch Little League championship games at 12:00 yesterday at Dr. Pepper ball park.

Have email forwarded from Rangers to our LL stating that if you get there before 3:00, parking will be free.

Only one lot is open (you used to park in the lot behind the convention center, but now you are in lot N), and it was manned by Hick's revenue collectors. $12 to park to watch the game.

Reports coming out that Oswalt is signed and coming to Texas.

I will hold my excitement until I see him pitch.

Oswalt will be interesting to watch..and looking forward to the LA series this weekend.

Took my daughters (5 and 8) to their first Rangers game Friday night. 6 run first inning, Hambone hit one out, and the Boomstick was out in full force, including a grand slam. They loved the kidzone playground area when they got bored. It was a fireworks night and my kids had that awesome look in their eyes during the show. During the fireworks my 8 yr old said "Daddy can you take me to a baseball game on my birthday?" Her birthday is in January but dont worry about that.

We will have to make this an annual tradition if not more often. Go Rangers.

And oh how I miss the Dallas hots.

I'm glad we have him. I'm curious what JD's master plan looks like right now. Looking at Feldman, Feliz, Ogando, Harrison, Lewis, Oswalt... Definitely some decisions that are going to have to be made.

I don't see the need for any immediate decisions - it will take several weeks for Oswalt to be ready to pitch in the big leagues so Feldman should keep the spot for now (barring a repeat performance tonight in which case they will likely call up a minor leaguer if they don't stick with Scott) - then Oswalt starts and Feldman goes back to long man with a lesser reliever headed to a bus ride. IF/when Neftali is ready to pitch AND they decide they still want him to start then it depends on what is going on - that is at least a month if not two months away

If Happy is truly hurt only until the all-star break or so, not sure why roy O is all of a sudden a need. Feldman is major league back end starter for the vast majority of baseball teams. Tonight was pure poor execution by pretty much the entire team. sorry, the rangers are not telling us something. Either Happy is more hurt or they are not as happy with Happy in how he prepares to be a starter than we are being told.

We won't know the decisions for 6-8 weeks, but there have definitely been decisions made... You don't just drop 5-6mm on another starter just shooting from the hip. The Rangers are in a much different financial situation than they were a few years ago, but they are not giving JD a bunch of blank checks. There is a master plan here, we just aren't privy to it yet...

I like the 6 man rotation theory. Keeps Darvish fresh and gives insurance if Feliz' elbow is worse than it is being let on. And if he comes out and throws well then all the better.

I doubt there is much of a market for Feldman out there. He's the only real trade candidate. With Koji breaking out and Lowe being serviceable Feldman is disposable at this point for spare parts if they don't want to go that way.

I mean Taty goes down when Feliz or Oswalt shows up, but then who else do you move? Ross? I guess so.

Ok. Feldman isn't disposable unless we ship him with a bag of money. Oof.

Thinking about a postseason bullpen that includes Ogando, Adams, Feliz, and Nathan gives me a boner.
:goodposting: From Jamey:
It does almost certainly mean Feliz is not going to rejoin the rotation in 2012, and I’m OK with that. I wasn’t sold on Feliz as a starter to begin with, and as Jeff Passan (Yahoo! Sports) points out: “Forget Oswalt in the rotation. The Nathan-Feliz-Ogando-Adams-Uehara-Ross-Lowe bullpen is what truly makes the Rangers Freddy-level scary.”

Elvis gets day off today. No game tomorrow. SMH.

Eta: Looks like everyone wanted the night off.

Yoshi is just not a MLB pitcher. He just doesn't have the stuff to get it done. I guess you just leave him in aaa until you need space on the 40 man and then you cut him loose.

Yoshi is simply keeping Roy's seat warm for now. The real question is who goes down once Feliz comes back, barring injury of course.

When can we really start talking about Jurickson Profar??

I know it's kind of lame, but ESPN is doing a Franchise Draft where the writers (and readers) start 30 teams from scratch, building for the next 10 years. Of course it's a young player draft (Kemp 1st, Tulo 2nd, Kershaw 3rd), but Profar gets picked 24th overall. In all of baseball. That is just stunning. Neftali was drafted 22nd.

He is killing it in Frisco, and I think while nothing happens this year, there could be some really interesting choices to be done during ST next season.

My  for JD is deep into the creepy phase now.

I just don't see any way he isn't a drop in replacement for Elvis when he leaves for the Yankees. I've always thought that. Hell, there may be posts of mine on record here from years back stating that case. Of course I thought Max would give Pudge a run for his money too, and Scheppers would run out of room in his trophy case for Cy Youngs also.

I don't want to think about Elvis leaving, ever. But it will be interesting. I think Profar will be Major League ready before Andrus' contract is up after 2014, so we will see.

Dude is still WAY young.

There have been lots of reports of either Kinsler or Andrus moving to the outfield to make room for Profar WHEN the time comess

My thought now is that Profar will ready about the time Michael Young's contract is over. My guess is that Kinsler moves into the super utility role, with some chance of outfield since i think that Cruz might odd man out or the large money contracts..assuming josh re-signs.

another bad execution loss for the Rangers. Moreland a couple of terrible early count ground out double plays, lewis hitting a batter on 0-2, and Kinsler not finishing an easy play. Seems like about half the losses this year have been on clear plays where they opened the door over just having one of those nights. need to tighten up that stuff.

so why was elvis not concerned about trying to throw out the runner at first instead of bleeping umpiring? Texas players have their collective heads up their rears right now. I actually don't mind Seattle bat's waking up for no reason, but just not making play that should be routine :yucky:

Bunch of GD little leaguers out there right now. So frustrating to watch these guys piss games away like this.

Mike Olt homered twice for the third consecutive game, giving him 17 on the season, the most in AA. Olt is batting 0.727/0.769/2.364 in June.
I really need to get up the road to watch a game while Olt and Profar are both still there.

Texas day one draft picks:

29. Lewis Brinson - CF

6'4" kid out of Florida high school. Everything I have read, he is super toolsy, but super, super raw. Hits from the left side. Compares to Cameron Maybin. I can't say I knew anything about this kid before yesterday, but I like everything I am reading about him this morning. Brinson already said is close to signing.

39. Joey Gallo - 3B/RHP (for losing CJ Wilson)

I had read a bit about this high schooler before the draft, only because everyone had Oakland taking him at 11. 80 power from the left side, but not sure how the glove will work at 3B. With Beltre and Olt, highly doubt he would ever see 3B, but the talk is he could play any corner position.

53. Collin Wiles - RHP (for losing Darren Oliver)

Yet another high school kid. Wasn't on anyone's top 200 list, so a mild shock I guess, although there was talk of Toronto taking him with their sandwich pick. JD and crew obviously see something they like, and you can probably sign him for below slot, allowing them to use that money down later in the draft with guys that have signability issues.

And at one time Feldman was signed to be a Millwood starter kit, if I'm not mistaken. For big money too. Now I wonder if he'll get fired into the sun before the ASB.

Yeah, hurts to miss that one.
