evans confirmed it talking with JD
Evans may want Q-Tip........from KFFLRangers | Mitch Moreland expected to go on DLWed, 20 Jun 2012 14:43:04 -0700Texas Rangers general manager Jon Daniels said the team expects to place 1B Mitch Moreland (hamstring) on the 15-day disabled list. He underwent an MRI on his hamstring Wednesday, June 20, but the team has not received the results.
They have until Friday to make the move to bring Oswalt up. 15 days can be 3 starts. mimo will be on the DL come Friday.
total non sequitur IMO because they still have Leonys Martin on the roster and if Hamilton is fully healthy there is no reason not to have Martin back at AAA playing every day instead of sitting on the bench
Martin is running out of options, no?

not for this year

Grimm with a dose of reality tonight. Hope he learns from it. He might get one more start depending on how the guys on the DL are coming along. Holland to have two AAA rehab starts.

Martin Perez is getting called up to Texas today. I'm guessing that he will fill the long arm in the bullpen role, since Kirkman was used up last night.

You think Bobby Witt is still around town? Could he be a spot starter?
almost as bad - the word is they are putting Feldman into Lewis' spot in the rotation and both Ross and Perez stay in the bullpen
Perez could start Saturday if they don't want to give Grimm another start.

Grimm is still listed as the starter for Saturday and Wash was very complimentary talking about him so I doubt they pull him from that slot ................at least this week

I think they are trying to keep ross in close to the role he has had all year. Feldman was right in a way, he is getting move around because he is not in their long term plans.

Listed where? Saturday would be Grimm's turn, so he's probably the projected starter on most sports sites. But this was announced yesterday via John Blake (Executive VP of Communications):

Rotation for Oakland: Feldman, Harrison, TBD, Darvish.

Nice series win. Amazing how many guys are hitting below their normal averages, pitchers getting hurt, and the team still keeps chugging along.

Rangers | Martin Perez starting Saturday

Fri, 29 Jun 2012 14:00:05 -0700

Texas Rangers SP Martin Perez will start the team's game Saturday, June 30

Solid win last night. Big hit by Kitten Face. Harry givIng the bullpen basically a night off by going 8 was huge.

Hopefully Oakland can salvage the series. Can't believe they blew their previous chances. Either way, congratulations Texas fans. Yu hasn't hit the ground running as was hoped but damn if he's not a lot of fun to watch pitch.

I feel like he is doing pretty good for a rookie. 10 wins before the AS Break, top 5 in the AL in strikeouts. I would not have expected much more for his first year here.

If he keeps his era under four, is in the top 10 in strike outs and is legitimate consideration for the all-star game ever year, I think Yu will have made the investment pay off.

This has been a good week to be without cable. Installed last night though, so hows about a couple wins this weekend?

Should be a fun second half.

Can LAAAA make up 4 games on this thing? Can we get everyone healthy at the same time? Which Hamilton do we get, or do we get both again like the first half? Who is Robbie Ross in the 2nd half (I don't think it will be Ross as you have to expect him to slow down)? Is there really a chance for two 20-game winners on this thing?

Well, hard to judge that first half. I think I buy the theory that when healthy and engaged this team can't be stopped. To an extent they were victims of success. LAA started slow and they built a huge lead and maybe just let off the gas a bit thinking they would coast from there. Then the injuries hit hard and somehow they kept the wheels on and still entered ASB at what? 18 above 500? :lazy:

Still not getting production or even play right now from

Young

Cruz

Feliz

Holland

Napoli

Hamilton

Kinsler

Ogando

Hell, when your two hottest players in June are platoon OF and a rookie reliever that barely made it on the team that usually means problems.

Big ALWest run out of the break. Need to do something big.

From Keith Law, regarding the Futures Game:

The best BPs of the day, in order, belonged to Oscar Taveras (St. Louis Cardinals), Rymer Liriano (San Diego Padres), Mike Olt (Texas Rangers), and Jurickson Profar (Rangers). The first three all showed plus power, while Profar showed that incredibly smooth, easy swing that has him performing like he's about five years older than he actually is. Had the World team held its early lead, Profar probably would have won the game's MVP award.

from Jamey:

The Rangers have announced the signing of Dominican teenaged outfielder Jairo Beras.
The quote from Don Welke about Beras:
You see this kid taking BP and it’s similar to Josh. And he’s 17 years old. We want this guy badly.
This system continues to get deeper and better.EDIT: He is suspended for a year for lying on his birth certificate. Does he just work out with the Rookie team?

Gallo is tearing it up in the rookie league. 8 HR with a 1.37 OPS in 17 games.

Love how deep the farm system is right now.

:goodposting: I love reading the Rookie Rangers boxscore every day. This system went from a deficit of power/corner bats to that being a strength pretty quickly.

Not linking anything but everything I have been able to tell is that he bascially can't play in games, but can participate in most other activities.

I can check at the AZ facilities but it may take me a few days for schedules to mesh

Now 10 HR in 20 games and a 1.48 OPS. I wonder if he will get promoted to Spokane soon? Newberg RT'd someone saying the AZL rookie HR record is 16, although when most guys hit double digit HR's they get promoted before being able to get more...

I talked with his Corey Ragsdale the manager of the rookie team last night and he doesn't think that will happen soon (of course he hopes Gallo is there to help them win). But the AZL in general is very young this year and most managers don't expect many of the players to be bumped up as early as they would have been in previous years (a few of the early first round picks will be the first to go)

Checked on Beras last night - he can work out with teams or at team facilities, and is probably doing that in the DR right now. He is expected to be in Surprise for the Instructional League in September and be here again for spring training next year. When the minor league season starts he will have to serve a fifteen game suspension and that will be the end of the one year.

Good stuff Captain Hook.

It's amazing to think that Gallo is 5 years younger than Olt, who is 10 years younger than Beltre. No reason to rush either of these guys. Let them bust through on their own.

I am starting to wonder when josh had his monster month and didn't get paid it sort of took the life out of things.

It is either that or hangover from two long playoff runs.

I'm not scared of LAA long term this year. They have only 3 real hitters that can hurt you. They got damn lucky to hit gold in their minors or they'd be 10-12 back.
