***OFFICIAL 'The Following' TV Series Thread*** (1 Viewer)

I guess nobody watches this anymore? :lmao: saw it recorded on my dvr and told my wife i have no interest in watching it
Yea, forgot it was still on my DVR schedule. since I had today off figured I'd give it a shot. :wall: of course Joe's still alive... such lazy writing, story could have been good being about his followers. Instead it's .. oh.. he escaped and is hiding.. that's never been done before, so  :bye: from the Dvr so I am never tempted to waste another 45 minutes.

I watched. Got pi$$ed off in the first 5 minutes when they showed the end of last season and the results of the cliffhanger.

What were they
I had forgotten how last season ended. But it was the Follower-planted neighbor girl that Hardy had fooled around with, somehow getting past the police guard at the front door and stabbing Hardy in the kitchen. Claire sees him laying on the floor, ignores his warnings, and rushes to his aid, only to get stabbed in the back.

I seem to remember it ending there last year, but in the opener Claire rolls over and neighbor girl stabs her in the chest. They are rushed to the hospital but, of course, after all of last season's b.s., Claire dies.

Wow, I didnt expect that

Yep. Like I said, it pi$$ed me off. It's like Newt and Hicks surviving all the way through Aliens, only to end up dead before Alien3 even gets started.

Great, I still hated that ending and hadn't started watching it yet. The worst part about the ending was that it still reminds me of the stupidest FBI squad ever. The neighbor visited Joe in prison and one of the first cult followers they apprehended (after she killed the black FBI agent) was discovered because she visited Joe. How in the hell did Bacon and his whole team never ever watch and post pictures of every single person that visited Joe? How many damn TV shows are there where they post a wall of evidence? Wouldn't that be one of the things to have? Gee Agent Bacon, isn't that your next door neighor? Well yes Agent Toast, that is, but I am sure she had a good reason, no way she is in cahoots with Joe. Still irks me. The premiere is on my DVR, not sure if I want to venture down that rabbit hole again.

Then again, killing Claire will at least wrap up all the "I know I shouldn't go with a cult member, but he says its the only way to see my son" decisions. She deserved to die a long time ago.

RIP the hottie that is Maggie Grace. You were the best part of the show and unfortunately, we didn't know it at the time. :)

The end of last season was stupid, but I actually thought the series premiere was decent once they started anew (i.e., after the first 10 minutes).

This thread was on page 13. Have FBGs given up on the show? I'm still watching and will most likely see it to the end

The show is off the charts bad. I'm sad to say I'm still watching because my wife likes it.

If you want this type of thing, watch Hannibal imo. This show can't hold a candle to it imo.

I am still watching because of how ridiculous it is. Also, with football over, I have nothing better to do at 9 pm on Monday nights.

I had hopes of improvement from Season 1 and saw a slight one, but when I forgot to record last week's episode and didn't miss it, I am officially out.

I think it's much better than it was last year. Season 2 has been pretty entertaining and not the same old Joe gets away at the last second/we can't secure a perimeter bit. You need to go looking to enjoy the show and not necessarily having a critical eye, but I think it's been very good this year.

I watched this week's episode last night, not too bad at all. Last year, it started so well that it became disappointing based on how goofy it got. Since this one started at that point, it has been better than expected. You still had the dumb stuff this week as usual, i.e. the easy escape for the serial killer and the why the heck does he not just call the FBI since they could wrap the whole thing up easily (twin at factory is caught easily and probably not hard to find the place from there). That said, it isn't too bad and I'll keep watching since I forced myself to finish the last season.

I think the only part that is going to annoy me is the damn mole in the FBI (Joe's good friend who's wife/girlfriend heads the task force) and the are Ryan and his FBI buddy going to cross the line and be as bad as the people they are trying to catch. My biggest gripe has always been the silly parts of the story line. If Emma all of a sudden falls for that guy because he is cute when he sleeps, I'll be pissed. She has been the best of the bad guys so far, Joe is becoming a cartoon that is easily manipulated. I thought maybe she would keep the level head and realize these people are just plain nuts and not part of Joe's plan, but she probably won't.

There's a few Dexter alum this season:

The guy who plays the twins was the one trying to be Dexter's apprentice in season 8.

The lead female FBI agent was Jimmy Smits' wife in season 3.

In an early episode, Frank Lundy was an FBI agent.

Sigh. This week was the first one that felt like a rehash of last season. The "trade" of one of the twins was so stupid it was hard to watch. And of course Joe gets away at just the last second. A pretty weak show overall.

Yep and of course the previews have Max getting kidnapped, shockingly, and of course have Lily back in complete control as if she anticipated all of this. This is where this show falls apart. People keep getting kidnapped and the whole show becomes about getting them back and of course Hardy having trouble with the FBI and of course the last minute escapes when it looks like there is no way out.

Who called Joe? Hardy was the only one who knew about the airstrip at that point. How the FBI that didn't even know where they were get to the airstrip at the same time as Hardy, who was literally a minute behind Joe? To be honest, one would have to assume that Hardy drove by Joe as he was walking away. Emma wasn't driving that fast and Hardy was at most 1 minute behind to start. All he did was run upstairs, get the info from the girl, drop her head (which was the best part) and then run to his car.

It would be interesting if they went back to a normal show where there wasn't a new mole every week and the bad guys didn't anticipate everything. The fact that Lily looks like she is back in control is just silly. She lost everyone except one son and didn't get away on her flight and then it appears she is good to go next week?

Finally got caught up on the last several shows. As usual from last season, I'm tired of the bad guys always getting the upper hand in standoff situations and the last-minute getaways. Also a bit tired of the blood letting.

However, I do like it when good guys kill important bad guys and when the bad guys faction off and kill each other.

So I guess I'll keep watching to see how the Ryan vs. Joe vs. Lily thing goes.

So, I'm not quite sure how the one twin - after having his face bashed in while defenseless and the back of his head against the asphalt street - not only survived, but has no apparent brain damage, but I digress.

Aside from that, last night's episode...Whoa. I think it's obvious that Joe will be taking over that new cult.

Not to mention getting shot twice in the chest.

Yeah, I thought the new cult thing could be interesting until it became apparent that Joe would be taking it over and will suddenly have a new huge cult of Followers. That made it lame.

I know it's just a TV show but it makes me freak out thinking how many crazy people are really out there...

How Joe goes about taking over the cult could be fun to watch. I actually find myself rooting for him at times. He is by far the most interesting and most well-played character on the show.

I said something very similiar to my wife the other night. How even though it's television, someone has these ideas in their head to put down on paper. It shows that there are people out there that this stuff is based off of, and that the human mind is capable of having these thoughts.

I was friends in college with the guy (Kevin) who writes this show. I saw him a few years after college in Wilmington when he was doing Dawson's Creek, and we joked about him writing the Scream movie. In college he loved scary movies, and he was interested in dark subjects, and those not wired right. He himself isn't weird. He is nice, funny, and gay. He was in the closet in college, but everyone knew except maybe him at the time. He came out a few years after college. Anyway, Kevin can write twisted, but he isn't...at least not like his characters...I hope. :oldunsure:

I agree, it was telegraphed a mile away that the wife wasn't really all that fond of her hubby and likes Joe a bit. Any real cult leader would have locked Joe down and seen him as such a threat right away that he would have killed him to start. This cult leader is just goofy.

So glad I pulled the ripcord on this show after the season 1 finale.

Would hate to have punished myself for more than 1 season just because I have an issue with leaving things unfinished.

Whoa, quite a twist at the end of yesterday's episode.

Have to say the new reporter chick is on my nerves. Almost gets killed twice, but just HAS to get the story! Especially right after almost getting operated on in the basement.

I'm surprised/not surprised it took Joe a whole three episodes to take over the cult.

I'm not sure how much longer I an hang on with this show. I thought this season may have had some traction early on, but now, every episode is the same:

Group of followers goes on a public stabbing spree.

Hardy gets there just a little too late.

He manages to kill one of the followers, though.

But the rest got away and tell Joe that Hardy was there.

Joe sends a message for the news lady to play.

Hardy almost catches Joe, but just misses.

And the Lilly thing....her sons are horribly overacted anymore. Then they just kill people and prop them up at the dinner table.

It's as if they had a storyline to last for seven episodes, but were forced to make thirteen, so they just filled in a bunch in the middle with the same repetitive crap.

My concern is that essentially we have ended up smack dab where we were at this point last year (or close to it). Almost all the same main people are involved on both sides of the ledger, with the only wrinkle being that now there is a third party (Lily Gray) of crazies. How we got to this point is a little different, but the set up for the big finish is very similar.

On the plus side, at least they haven't had many good guys masquerading as bad guys like last year. It seemed like half the FBI and law enforcement was in on it last season.

Yeah, there has been a little less of the ridiculous, i.e. Joe's ex getting in multiple cars with Joe's crew thinking that would get her son back or the awful perimeters (at least they caught and killed a few) or the overweight ninja security guard.

That said, I think it would have been much better to have Lily and Joe going after each other a bit. The stupid blood cult all of a sudden turning to murder with Joe as their leader? If they hadn't gone there, it could have been much better.

Yeah, I'd kind of like to see more of a Joe/Lilly war.

I agree, at least every other good guy isn't a bad guy this season.

But, it's good to see stupid Claire is back acting like stupid Claire.

I'm sure everyone already knows this, but until watching Gladiator today, I hadn't realized that Lily was the female lead in that movie.

Not sure what the problem was with Mike shooting. At this point in the series, Ryan and crew can't possibly be out for "truth and justice" and must realize these people must all be killed.

Other than it looks like he may not have killed her, I agree. Didn't the fbi director give them complete freedom? I was routing for him to take the shot. But that may just be me wanting loose ends tied up for once on this show.

And this was the day after Ryan took a shot a Joe "in cold blood" as well. Doesn't really make sense.

I find myself caring less and less about the characters. I think I'm basically hoping that Claire dies at this point.

I stopped watching or caring midway through season 1.

So... who's chasing who, who got caught being an idiot, and who got away because their captors are idiots? Also... I assume the taskforce is still 2 or 3 people trying to chase down a ####### marching band sized swat team of serial killers. With nobody wathcing the back door.

Or did they hire new writers?

I fell asleep during last Monday's episode (not the show 's fault; I was just really tired) . That might be a good point to stop watching.

This is the reason why I stopped watching The Americans.
