I dunno. Hannibal Lecter seemed to be able to maintain his weight. Maybe the gaunt cannibals just need to get better with seasoning.Only criticism is that the cannibals should have been more gaunt.

Was Hannibal's diet strictly human or was that like the good steak dinner you treat yourself to every once in a while?I dunno. Hannibal Lecter seemed to be able to maintain his weight. Maybe the gaunt cannibals just need to get better with seasoning.
That's a good point. For most cannibals, it's probably just a "birthdays and anniversaries" thing. Was Hannibal's diet strictly human or was that like the good steak dinner you treat yourself to every once in a while?I dunno. As another counter though, the cannibals weren't strict cannibals. They ate everything else as much as possible but when they ran short, somebody drew a short straw.

I’m glad this didn’t end up just one big zombie show. But the lack of encounters with infected overall makes it seem like it isn’t so bad out there or it is pretty easy to avoid given knowledge accumulated over the last 20 years.

We have so missed your witty critique of the showI watched the whole game walkthrough of season 1 and thought it was excellent. I might check out the finale of the show to compare.

I have to be honest on like page 1 I said I didn’t want to watch because I have no interest in zombie stuff so this has made the show multiple times better for me. It’s like we know they are out there but I don’t really have to see them.get not making it a zombie show but the lack of infected is silly. For example, in the game Ellie and David start bonding while fighting off a hoarde of infected. They could've had that scene and added another episode of David to make you think he wasn't a bad guy and then dropped the bomb in the next episode that was evil.

Then I'd say it's late 24 or even in to 2025.When is S2? I read late 24 or even in to 2025 for release.

Assuming the nail the landing, I may very well go back and watch S1 of this show. But yeah, as far as I'm concerned the story ends on Sunday.reddit is great for this show. r/thelastofus is where the show can do no wrong but r/thelastofus2 is where gamers are extremely critical of the show and also generally hate Part 2 of the game and the guy that took the reins of the 2nd game and show. The first page has banned any mention of the second and bans anyone that is too critical of the show. Needless to say, I like the 2nd page. I don't recommend going there though since it's full of spoilers for the whole series.

I am interested in playing the game now, but as with most games I will only get 40% of the way through and it’ll get too hard and I’ll quit.
same for me. i had to watch some clips on youtube to remember some of the specifics (completely forgot about the Sam storyline, but remembered having the sniper rifle)Funny. I played the game a long time ago and still don't remember

There is a multiplayer TLoU game coming out but no part 3.

fun game though, and i recommend playing the whole part 1 of the game before the next season. If you want to venture to part 2 go for it, but you will see some spoilers that may not make the next season as fun.
for me, i enjoyed part 2 a ton. not sure why there was so much critiquing of it, wasn't sure where it came from. i think it was also the beginning of the "woke" movement in our country, so maybe that was what influenced people's opinions. For me, i enjoyed it a bunch, little long, but was fun
I think that is a really good point. For a friend of mine who didn't play the game, he said as soon as he saw the dude praying he knew he was going to be a bad guy. Having David not be so obviously bad from the start may have had a better chance of convincing viewers that "perhaps he is good" before the inevitable turn.As good as the show has been they've done a poor job on two fronts...I’m glad this didn’t end up just one big zombie show. But the lack of encounters with infected overall makes it seem like it isn’t so bad out there or it is pretty easy to avoid given knowledge accumulated over the last 20 years.
1. They dedicated two hours on Bill/Frank and Ellie/Riley when they should have been adding more depth to Joel/Ellie. Heck, an extra hour of Ellie/David and Henry/Sam would've had more of an impact to the story than those 2 wasted hours.
2. I get not making it a zombie show but the lack of infected is silly. For example, in the game Ellie and David start bonding while fighting off a hoarde of infected. They could've had that scene and added another episode of David to make you think he wasn't a bad guy and then dropped the bomb in the next episode that was evil.
I get what you're saying here and I know it's a trope, but this is why I don't cringe when people say that they'd rather have fewer storylines featuring gay characters, or cross-dressers (it's coming). When books, films, and games play the "religious people are all secretly evil" card, fine. Let's play cards then.I think that is a really good point. Having David not be so obviously bad from the start may have had a better chance of convincing viewers that "perhaps he is good" before the inevitable turn.
I thought the Bill/Frank episode was really well done but Ellie/Riley could have been much shorter and allowed for a larger arc for David.
Overall still really love the series and looking forward to the finale. Then I'll have to decide if I want to play TLOU2. It got such bad reviews at the time I skipped it because I didn't want it to ruin the first experience for me (kind of like the Matrix sequels took the shine off the original for me).
I managed to avoid all the spoilers around the second game (and still don't really know). The review sites I read at the time all just focused on hating the storyline and didn't delve into what elements they hated about the story (in an effort not to spoil anything). They just said it was such a far departure from the first game it would ruin the experience. I wasn't playing that style of game when it came so it just didn't occur to me that the criticisms were politically motivated. The reviews at the time were almost overwhelmingly negative so I just decided to skip it. I did like the gameplay of the first one but the story is what captured me. If it veers too far off from Joel and Ellie vs the world, I may just leave it and enjoy the experience I had.I get what you're saying here and I know it's a trope, but this is why I don't cringe when people say that they'd rather have fewer storylines featuring gay characters, or cross-dressers (it's coming). Also, to be fair, the controversy around TLOU2 centered around the story and various culture-war stuff that ND lead with. I think everybody agrees that if you like the gameplay from the first game, you'll like this one too.
That makes sense. Like I said, somebody literally leaked the entire game (at least the story parts) way before it launched, so that whole discussion was extremely spoilery. My sense (full disclosure: never played it) is that it's a good game if you don't mind the stuff that generated all the commotion. It is dark though, but I think people expect that given how the first game went.I managed to avoid all the spoilers around the second game (and still don't really know). ETA: Fighting the Rat King on Hard+ was one of the most fun game experiences I've ever had. Still need to go back and do it in Survivor mode. It makes me laugh that gamers would willingly pass it up because "WOKE!"

The characters are rich, the levels (set pieces) are incredible.
If you loved the first game you’re cheating yourself not playing the second game.

There have been multiple but Im trying my best to pretend I didnt read them so you tell me, Is the Rat King something that I should have learned about yet? Also, throwing out hints and vague references to the second game and ending or plotlines going forward happens a lot.
Its just a departure from the SOP around here for two decades.

Not a “big” spoiler?
Since when is it OK to discuss things from the source material that haven’t happened in the show yet? Is that not the very definition of a spoiler regardless of how big or small it is?
Am I crazy? Wtf?

The core construction of the show was built upon appealing to Hugh Jackman to sign on. Once you get an "A Lister" to sign on, you start to get much easier traction to get other desirable actors to also come aboard a project. You can't entice someone like Jackman or a Josh Brolin to sign on unless it's pitched as prestige television aimed at deep character exploration/introspection. In effect, someone like Jackman and Brolin want the same cache that McConaghey got for True Detective S1. Which was a career boost.
When HBO HQ failed to secure Jackman, they also lost, tragically, Tom Pelphrey, who was desired to play the role of Tommy, and would be seen as capable of potentially leading the show at some point on his own. Or taking a spin off. So when Pascal was cast, there was pressure to cast someone who would be seen as naturally could be related to him by blood. So Gabriel Luna was cast.
Also if Jackman was cast, that would have convinced Evangeline Lilly to come aboard as Tess and make her a much larger character. Also the show would have gotten a larger episode order.
Pascal is mailing it in. He's upset he didn't get offered the same salary as Jackman and Brolin. He also doesn't want to be typecast as the babysitter who takes valuable child "cargo" around in shows. He has close to no real chemistry with Ramsey. At least the show figured that out early and did it's best to keep them mostly separated. You are right, there is very little character development that shows a progression of a bond between the two lead characters.
It's not hard to see why Jackman and Brolin turned down the role of Joel. The foreshadowing is extremely heavy handed on the character. He's often emasculated and glaringly so. You can't hold onto the perception of "leading man" Hollywood status and play this kind of babysitter character. Now when Jackman did Real Steel, that was more in line with what would have worked here, a rogue with a heart of gold. In this show, Joel is not a rogue at all. He's an incompetent rogue. He's not carrying a heart of gold hidden away, he's just being forced into a situation that operates as a proxy to cognitive behavioral therapy.
The operational belief now is that Lena Dunham poisoned Bella Ramsey's mind. HBO HQ wants none of that. They don't want controversy off the set. They want prestige television and not to alienate any large segment of it's potential audience. Just like with Jamie Lynn Sigler with The Sopranos, everyone figured out that the casting was wrong just a little too late.
And in a bizarre fit of the expected, because Ronda Rousey has some linkage to HBO in the past, apparently her representation has been lobbying to get her onto the show and into the main cast for a future season(s)
Not getting Jackman was a huge loss. That all but ensured no Tom Pelphrey ( IMHO, he's a fantastic and underrated actor). And it removed any potential to offer Florence Pugh her own spin off show within the same universe. When you don't get the A List guy, you don't get the A List sphere around them. You get the B List tier of casting potential.
No one expected this to be such a huge hit. If they could predict this, and if Jackman could have predicted this, he would have signed on and we'd have an entirely different show.
Now it's just HBO HQ hoping Ramsey doesn't drag them into a major scandal in the national daily media cycle. That's the best consolation prize they have left.
