**Official** "The Office" Thread (1 Viewer)

I am a huge fan of The Office. It has been my favorite comedy show since it started. It pains me to see just how far this show has fallen. There has not been one memorable episode this entire season.

Obviously, Steve Carrell leaving the show created a tremendous void. What disappoints me with this season, however, is that the writing has been so brutal. The plotlines are garbage and the writers have given us nothing to root for or care about. The jokes are just lazy and have fallen completely flat. Listen to the jokes on Parks & Recreation - they are sharp, witty and hilarious. This is where The Office used to be.

The show still has some solid, funny acting talent to work with, but the characters are stalled and are being fed crap lines.

same as day one, guy.

Meh on the season finale.

The Andy schtick dragged on way too long. It was a one-note joke to begin with, and to tell it again and again slowed the whole show down. (Although his MF bomb was pretty funny).

The picture taking was good. I don't know exactly what was supposed to be funny about Creed's parents--but I laughed.

And Mose spoke for the first time.

As for the season as a whole, obviously Carell left a huge void. I mentioned in this thread that I thought it was a mistake to give Helms the spot because he was too similar. Creed, Darryl or Meredith would have given the show an entirely different vibe.

Looking forward to next season with the return of David Wallace. Some of the funnier moments of the show were the awkward conversations he and Michael. I would love to see Crazy Jan come back, as well.

Pretty sure he spoke at the Robert California's party at Schrute Farms. But horrible episode. Sad world where this will get renewed for a full season and Community only gets renewed for a half season.

Yeah, Mose has spoken a couple of other times in the past.

The episodes each have funny moments/ideas, but it just never seems to come together anymore.

I think the whole Sabre experiment was a disaster. Everything that came with it just dragged down the show, Gabe being a notable exception.

Bringing Wallace back is a good first step. Hopefully Nellie will play more of a complimentary role next season, if at all.

Hate what they have done with Dwight.

He was always maniacal but very neurotic and borderline dumb. They've turned him almost into an evil genius and stripped all of his naivete.

The episode a few months back with Jim trying to warn him about being fired was completely out of character for him.

Watch Seasons 2 and 3 Dwight vs. now. It's barely the same character.

Not a fan at all.

Second rant:

Where are the one liners from Creed? Nothing funny for like 2 seasons now.

She should be gone. I think part of the problem is that the Office keeps cramming more characters down our throat. The Jo's, Robert California's and Nellie's are all this show's version of Cousin Oliver.

It's pretty much a given now that the hiring of DeAngelo Vickers will be recorded as the biggest sharkjump in TV history.

Y'know, i keep quitting the show after another ridiculous "Andy overcompensates" episode but then miss it after three wks even tho my friends have told me it isnt picking up any, watch another and it's even worse than when i left. :yucky: :bag:

Renewed for another season

Better to just kill this thing. Hopefully they'll put all their eggs into the finale and make it worthwhile. I'd love a proper send off for some of the characters :doubtful:

The show is off the air after this season.
saw that. couple years too late.
Making Andy the new boss was a terrible decision. So was adding James Spader.I wonder if this means an extension beyond 2012-13 for "30 Rock". I doubt NBC would want to lose both shows at the same time.
could have worked with decent writing, which the has not had for half a decade
Michael Scott 2.0 was never going to work. Best thing for them would've been to make Darryl the new boss. So now you got a guy who everyone likes, has no social issues, but just is clueless about running a business. It would've been very refreshing and forced the writers to come up with new stuff instead of just dusting off rejected scripts.

I thought Spader was hilarious. I agree the show has declined since Carell left, but I can't think of another sitcom I make a point of watching every week. Fewer side-splitting laughs, but still entertaining. I could probably name 20 scenes from that show over the years that have had me in tears and gasping for breath. I'l be sorry to see it go.

Just off the top of my head:

"I...declare......BANKRUPTCY!!!!"

The deposition when Jan was suing the company for wrongful termination.

"There are four kinds of business..." (Michael speaks to Ryan's business school class)

Michael realizes he's wearing a women's suit.

"I'll have the gabagool".

Michael and Jan's dinner party.

Michael runs over Meredith.

Michael can't tell the two Benihana waitresses apart, so he marks one of them with a magic marker.

Yeah, Carell was pretty much the whole show.

Good list...I would add:Michael's Speaking Tour: "Shirty, baldy, black lady, sugar boobs, mole"The Sexual Harrassment episode where Michael vows to never say "that's what she said" again and Jim goads him into it."We'll get somebody to clean that up." "We're the ones that gotta clean that up."

The blooper reels on YouTube are fungo watch.

Kevin: "I donated sperm."

Jan: "I went to a high class place."

Kevin: "The one behind the iHop?"

Jan: (looks dumbfounded as that is the place she went to)

Kevin: "You just let me know when you want her to have a brother or sister."

'Office' spinoff scoop: Dwight's brother castby James HibberdAnother young talent has joined NBC’s Office spinoff.Former College Humor comedy actor Thomas Middleditch is going down to The Farm. Middleditch, who also has a role in the upcoming film The Campaign, will play Dwight Schrute’s brother Jeb.Jeb is described as a pot farmer who’s failed at bunch of wacky business ventures (such as Bigfoot hunter). He joins actress Majandra Delfino who’s been previously cast as Dwight’s younger sister Fannie. With The Farm filling out its cast and NBC deciding to end The Office after the upcoming ninth season, it seems very likely this spinoff will at least make it to the pilot stage (which as an episode of The Office during the final season).
Sounds horrible.

Looks like Greg Daniels is back fulltime as showrunner for the final season after splitting time between The Office and Parks and Rec for the past 4 seasons. Wonder if that will up the quality/continuity for the last season?

debut of final season last night. still terrible. if anything, getting even worse.

they've turned Andy from a teddy-bear to something dark and twisted. Dwight has shifted from a quirky gem to a psychotic maniac. Creed's lines are forced.

If Steve Carrell returns for an episode or two to wrap things up (wedding? baby?), then i'll check back in, but taking this off the DVR schedule, after watching every single episode until now.

You didn't like the additions of Cousin Oliver and Seven?

At this point, I'm not even looking for consistent laughs. I just want to see how the story ends.
Ross and Rachel end up together again. Phoebe is married to Mike (played by Paul Rudd). Monica and Chandler move out of their apartment and into a new house with their adopted twins, Jack and Erica. Joey moves out to LA and gets a spinoff of his own, but it doesn't amount to much.

Thought tonight was a really good episode. One of the hidden gems was Creed mouthing "that's what she said" was a classic after the kid said "i can't believe you can do that with your mouth" or something like that.

This show has been floundering for awhile.

But that said, the "fail" sequence to open last week's episode was really funny.

That episode also had a couple of actual lol moments (which is the most I expect at this point), including Creed's hitch hiking and getting on the bus.

tuned in for the first time in over a year (well, flipped between that and NFL)...not bad. Can someone explain the Jim thing? He's investing in a sports marketing company, or something? And Pam was pissed?

Yeah, that whole thing doesn't seem to make sense. One of JIm's college buddy's approached him about starting up a Sports Marketing business, JIm agreed but didn't tell Pam initially. So, why he was having to invest $10k in his own company in which he seems to know nothing about it's finances was a bit confusing.

It was originally Jim's idea. His buddy started it up and asked Jim to get in.

I thought last night's episode was trash. Work Bus last week was the first funny episode in quite some time. Guest spots are so dumb, they wrote in Colbert for no reason.

You know, I must say, I enjoy this British character.

She seemed annoying at first, but this actress is bringing a real human feel. I like it.
