***OFFICIAL 'The Walking Dead' TV Series Thread*** (2 Viewers)

I've seen a few predictions where people believe the baby is gonna buy it.

What exact scenario are you guys envisioning? Is she going to be on the front lines with a gun? Manning the watch-tower? Going toe-to-toe with some zombies?

I think they keep one of Milton of Herschel. Killing them both would leave Rick without a consigliere...

The arc is a correction from the Ricktatorship from last season. He'll still be in the front of the group and will need a sounding board. Milton is/was under a bat#### crazy leader, so his ability to be a VP kind of role is still questionable. I think when the bullets fly that Milton will be taking cover a long way from the front lines.

The problem with the baby dying now is whether anyone would actually buy Rick's grief about losing this baby when Rick and the baby have hardly even shared a scene together so far, except for when Rick awkwardly held the baby in a disconnected way as he was in the midst of his mental breakdown.ETA - However, if there is a melodramatic moment involving Rick and the baby early on in the episode, I will be fully expecting the Governor to post-natally abort the baby later on that episode.

In a way that actually makes it more likely the baby will die. Rick has already had his emo breakdown and it would be dumb to have him go through another one if he cared about Judith. Besides he's 99% sure it's Shane's.
 
If the baby was going to die, they probably would have spent at least a couple minutes at some point in the last three episodes reminding the audience that the baby even still exists.

No. Robert Kirkman has said that The Walking Dead takes place in a world in which there was no pre-existing "zombie" source material, so no one is aware of the concept of zombies in the show.

Brian Keene's thoughts on TWD from Twitter...I can't say I disagree:

1. Rick is the good guy protagonist, yet we get pissed at him weekly. Meanwhile, we cheer on Merle, who's a loathsome thug.

2. The reason is the writing. Despite his faults, Merle's humanity has been portrayed in his love for his brother.

3. What humanizes Rick? What does he love? His kids? Bull####. How much time has he spent with them this season?

4. When your audience sympathizes more with a racist, misogynistic thug than it does your main character, re-write.

5. Where are your children, Rick? "Oh, probably getting eaten by zombies. I'm too busy making dumb decisions to find out."

To be fair, Rick's character is kind of a #### and not much of a parent in the comics. Part of the reason he's great character is that he's a flawed guy trying to do his best, which ends up not being very good at times.

I don't think so, and there is no reason to believe they are. I'm pretty sure that they said that they had come down from the northeast and had met a group of guys and had set up a camp somewhere. They made clear that they were on the road and not established at some town.

It's possible, read this on another board - Randal mentioned that his camp was 5 miles away from the farm and later Andrea marks the farm on a map and Merle says it's only 5 miles away from Woodbury.

It really is a great question. I can't understand the turn from a human surviving the zombie apocalypse to...... whatever the F this is.
 
Almost every apocalyptic movie I've seen or book I've read has at least an underlying plot about some power hungry schmuck taking advantage of his new opportunity. The theme is that a certain number of people will surrender the ideals they had pre-holocaust and support the schmuck in return for greater safety. And after a while, it becomes less fantastic to succumb to the schmuck's tyranny and insanity and more the norm of everyday survival.

Obviously, we don't know if such speculation is true. Nobody will admit to being the power hungry schmuck beforehand. But there's certainly grounds for the suspicion, based simply on what power hungry schmucks will do and have done before the lights go out or the walkers start walking.

:goodposting: The guv doesn't want anyone pushing him for control. It's the reason he took out the National guard instead of bringing trained guns into the mix.

Right now the group, mainly Rick, is a threat to his control so he needs to eliminate the threat.

 
Why were the walkers coming out of the barn so slow (along with pretty much every walker since) when the walkers in the city that Rick and Glenn had chasing them could not only run fairly well, they could scale a fence. Seems to me the walkers in the prison yard should be scaling the fences.

Much like you see more and more zombies "sleeping".. Their energy levels are waning as the food supply gets smaller.. At least that is theory most of us are going with :shrug:

City life is faster paced than the suburbs/country. If you want to be a successful city zombie, you really need to be a go-getter.
 
Well here's my first world problem of the week. I set my dvr to record the whole series and I thought everything was fine. Little did I know the settings had it set to keep only 5 shows. The first 3 were gone when I caught it. Then what I thought was the fix didn't work either. So when I finally set it right the first 6 were gone. The whole first season! I think this problem could be a modern day Seinfeld episode, sort of like the am/pm thing....

Anyway I decided to start watching on my phone to see if I would like it and I've now made it through the first 2. It's really annoying watching it this way because every so often it freezes on me. I'm on page 9 of this thread and I'm still going to try to give it a chance, unlike some of the guys who commented early on in this thread. I'm thinking it has a lot of potential even though the first 2 seem kind of slow moving to me. I'm also alarmed at the high number of people we have here that read comic books. Hahaha. Don't spoil me guys!!

I think the point is that some people avoid previews and sneak peeks so they can be surprised for the real thing.

That fence-climbing zombie stood out to me as well when rewatching some of the first season during the AMC marathon. That guy must have been the Michael Jordan of the zombie world with those athletic abilities. It seemed as if the directors/writers hadn't fully decided how the zombies would operate that early on in the first season.

I haven't read the latst 5-6 pages of this thread. Has anyone complained about Merle hotwiring a car with one hand a metal blade? And how did he shift gears so fast when driving away from the zombies?

The previews are never quite what they seem to be. One of the many reasons that howling about them as spoilers is silly.
