And I hear you about TWD, even if I've been slowly migrating from live, to same night DVR, to later in the week DVR to asking whether I should catch up on several weeks in here. I'm a sucker for post apoc stuff. Hell... I'm even still watching The 100.
How do you rate The 100?  Don't think I ever watched that. Or is that the one where a bunch of kids crash back to earth from space station when they weren't supposed to?

Teen angst and genocide with a touch of bsg. It's the best/worst.
Yeah I stopped after 3 episodes, don't like teen shows.

Charlie wait!!!!!!!  Just saw that last night.  Colony picking up.steam, I like it.

The Expanse is the other one I started and stopped, any good? I can't even remember what it's about.

Yeah... If you can't get past the teen bs angle of the show, the 100 is a tough watch.

Is the new season of Colony out or are you catching up?

Expanse... Dunno. I think it has its proponents on the board. I may have watched the pilot, but don't really remember.

Season 3 currently ongoing.

Charlie dies in a mid season episode. [\spoiler]

Oh ####- didn't know it had started up again and definitely shouldn't have looked at your spoiler!
Come back and read this after you watch it:

Much better death than long drawn out sappy Carl.  Sudden, unexpected, and dark when Snyder finds him turned blue under the tarp. That's how it's supposed to be done.
It's gotten better with each season, glad I stuck with it.

I'm done.  I turned if off half way through that episode.  Dumb ### Morgan switching shows just so he can hobble around and save other dumb ### characters.  Horrible.

She screamed the lady's name, pointed the gun at her, and pulled the trigger. Cowboy yells "No!" and jumps in front of her taking the bullet.

From online article at TV Guide:

As John ran to reunite with Naomi, revenge-crazed Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) took a shot at her but hit John in the abdomen instead.

Naomi quickly tried to tend to him, but he didn't look so good as the episode ended.

John better not be dead. He's the best new character and Garret Dillahunt's performance is delightful. He brings a shot in the arm of hope to the grim show, and we're not ready to lose that yet.
Yeah, that was even dumber after being forced to watch it again this week.  He's completely standing in front of her, hands in the air and says no like three times and she still shot him.  Stupid.  If Alicia wanted her dead so bad why didn't she just grenade her when she was hiding behind the car?  Why didn't they just grenade the whole bunch of them from the start?  Strand had 6 grenades hanging from his vest.

That was an awful fight scene worst of them all. I really was enjoying this show more than TWD but last. I guy was the worst episode so far and by far. WTF did Nick and Alicia sit in the car until they were surrounded? Only thing that could have redeemed it would have been shooting that little girl. Totally dark and revenge driven but you know that it’ll get silly and sappy with her now.

I did enjoy Alicia killing that guy after not getting the answer.

. WTF did Nick and Alicia sit in the car until they were surrounded?.
I struggled with this as well.  It was such poor writing.

If they continue to tease a Madison death only to have her alive, I am tapping out.  Of all the dumb incarnations of this character, Bob The Builder may be the worst.

I hope they don't continue the two time line thing all season.

I almost wish they kept Travis. He was becoming awesome. That one scene where he just went bat shot crazy on that guy in the office was amazing. I think it could have been a way better dynamic with him and Nick/Alicia since it wouldn’t have been unwavering I’ll do anything for my kids. That said she’s had a bit of that as well just too much of he nurturing mom with that little girl too.

I don’t think I can ever understand that scene in the car. They could have easily driven away even while the dead was starting to get to them. How about at least thinking of something like them racing to get by the just released dead and the brother tries to yank the wheel and they roll over on the side and then get surrounded? How hard would that be? Flipping a beat up Range Rover isn’t that much extra money. I can deal with Alicia not using grenades or shooting the wrong person, but just sitting there in a functional car slowly waiting to be surrounded?

a scene like this barely makes sense in the very very beginning of the story when no one knows what is going on.  But this happening years into the story where characters have exact knowledge of what is going on around them is unforgivable imo.

At the very very very least, have the car either breakdown or run out of gas or some other poor writing excuse for why they waited to get surrounded.

Exactly. I was watching and thinking WTF are they doing and WTF did they let themselves get surrounded. There’s been a ton of questionable sequences in both shows but that had to honestly be the dumbest thing we’ve ever seen.  You could almost see Alicia holding the walkie about to tell her mom they were in trouble only to realize the dead were still 30’seconds away, putting the walkie down, huffing at the slowness of the walkers, looking at her watch and then finally telling her mom that they were in trouble.

Totally agree.
me three.  They clearly picked the wrong adult to kill off.

I want to give the writers 95% of the blame here for writing Madison so poorly but there is something about the smugness of the way Dickens acts that puts me off as well.

In my defense I only complained about the grenades because I turned it off before it got any worse and skipped the rest of the episode.

Then you saved yourself a bit of anguish. The fight scene was the worst one ever, but the ending was 100 times more stupid.

The episode was good, only to be once again totally ruined by a "big moment" in which the writing resorted to to total buffoonery. Seriously, these writers need to stop totally botching the pivotal moments of the show. Three things:

1. Not using the grenade launchers or the ammo belt full of grenades in a battle where all the enemies are hiding behind vehicles, which would have been the perfect tactical situation for use of said grenades. This is minor compared to the other two, which are...

2. Wall filled with people armed with long range hunting rifles and AR-15s, most with scopes. What, maybe eight trucks with two people each? They all get out, WELL within easy sniping range of nearly every weapon on that wall. And Madison's group does what exactly? Watches them all SLOWLY mosey out to the back of the trucks and open the gates. Here's an idea. The moment they step out of the trucks, ####### SHOOT THEM! They are dead, no zombies released, easiest battle EVER!

3. If you can get past the total stupidity of 2, then how about dumb ### brother and sister drive away while honking the horn, easily leading the pack away from the stadium?

My gawd, the total and complete awfulness of that final scene simply cannot be over-stated. I almost feel like writers think the entire audience of this show are mental midgets. And maybe we are for still watching.

Ugh, sometimes it gets worse when you focus on one stupid thing while completely ignoring other things. I didn’t really even think that hard about 2 and 3 because them sitting in the car was killing me. Heck I’ll throw up 3b, why don’t boy and girl shoot all the people coming out of the trucks too. They were right next to them and it didn’t look like any of them were armed. Wow, what a bad ending just to get to a pivotal moment.

you could almost write a 100 different endings that were all bad, and still come out better than what they shot.

I have a VERY high level for pain, for example, I only slightly cringed at Glenn under the dumpster.   This ending last night was like a hot needle to my eye.

Glenn under the dumpster while a bit hard to fathom was at least possible. We even saw screenshots of how there was actually room underneath and his buddy was at least a distraction. Last night was definitely worse because, unlike Glenn who would at least try anything to survive, it was a battle hardened crew that did nothing and actively waited to get surrounded. Not a single gun aimed at the Range Rover so 0 reason to not do anything other than wait to be surrounded. Heck, I would have been better with them pulling a Tyrese and trying to kill all 1000 zombies by hand.

Alright after reading the thread I decided I had to see the car scene you guys were talking about.  Holy hell, this was probably one of the worst written, worst acted episodes ever on television.  I mean its like the onion wrote the script.

1. The Gunfight.  LOLOLOLOLOLOL.  They had 2 automatic rifles and one shotgun vs at least 30 other guns and nobody was hit.  I mean that is A team level bad.  Strand had a bandolier of grenades and doesnt use them.  The liberal writers in hollywood have never shot a semi or auto as they would absolutely shred a car to pieces.  Plenty of youtube vids to show this.  Then Alicia backs off of killing because the guns in the truck, hey moron they are only pointed one way and at the people you are trying to kill, step 5 paces back and then shot.

2, Maybe I missed it by why were the Vultures dead set on attacking and leveling the place, seems a bit counter productive and dangerous

3. So Madison knows the Vultures are coming and they are going to use the walkers to attack and yet they just let a truck drive around the parking lot and not even take a shot?  I mean how much of a "wtf" moment are they trying to shove down our throats?  It literally makes no sense.  And then the others pull up and they still dont shoot.

4. Druggie depp and the car scene.  My oh my, if the last episodes didnt want to make you pull the plug on this then the car scene had to be the one that made you cry uncle.  You guys have covered it enough up thread but damn what are the writers trying to do to us, insult our intelligence is my best guess.

Also its minor all things considered but A) Alicieas rounds would have blown that cowboy open and when she shot she was 20ft from the car and then they cut to the battle and all 3 were hunkered down.

Good lord please make it stop.  Finally just watched last episode.  It got better (Dorie/Naomi episode) only to see it get much, much worse.  Hoping the mid-season finale is better, not holding my breath.

Caught up w colony this season...  decent, even with some writing hiccups.

One thing...and I'm sure it's a nod to TWD... They show and explain how gas goes bad so the cars don't work. Also a nod, cartoony bad guy human.

I thought last season was really good. After the first couple of episodes, I thought this season would be great. These last few episodes were The Walking Dead bad. Bad writing, stupid character decisions, etc.

I don't mind what happened to Madison in the end, but that was terrible execution to get us to that ending including (especially) what happened last week at the stadium. Just ridiculous.

Well I finally caught up on this thing and see you guys have already touched on what bothered me too.  Ridiculously stupid parking lot scene with the truck zombies.

As the trucks roll in, why on earth are Madison's kids just sitting in the car like a couple of boobs.  They had plenty of time to get inside the stadium.

They know truck loads of walkers are coming.  Why not have 6 guys with automatic rifles/grenade launchers go up the street and settle in for an ambush on either side of the road and wait for them to roll by..  blow up the first truck and the others stop.  Shoot the drivers.  Get in remaining trucks and drive them away and leave them.  Game over.  No zombie herd at the stadium.

The thing I hated most about the season was the stupid time lines we had to try and navigate in every scene.  It was difficult to always figure out what was going on and when.  Made me not care after awhile.

Best thing about the season was Madison, finally, being killed off.  Course they'll probably keep her going for 4 more seasons through these stupid flashbacks/time jumps.

And the dialog...

"It wasn't about the stadium."

"It was about the people."

"It was about us."

"It was about me."

holy crap. :wall:   f'n Gimple.    :lmao:

I hate that they did not show her dying.  They needed to show her being ripped to shreds to put an end to that awful character but they have left the door open.

Dickens is acting like it is over though.  Hopefully she is being genuine.

There was an odd look to the preview for the second half.  It looks like maybe another time jump.

And they still never dealt with the girl who killed Nick.

Can you think of a cheaper way to do a finale than sitting around a camp fire telling the story while just showing snip its of what really happened?

Madison is muerto. Confirmed on the Talking Dead.

Also reviewing the Vultures storyline, what in darnation did they gain by sending in the fire zombies?  Ballpark was overrun but they  apparently  weren't able to come away with anything. The infirmary for example was still fully stocked with supplies that they used to treat John Dorie.

The first half of the season had some promise but the writing as related to the ball park ruined it.  Nothing made any sense on either side of the conflict.

Agreed.

They are now doing a retooling of the show. 3 of the 4 main Clarks are now dead. The new guys running the show are putting their own design on it.

I really hope so but if memory serves they did the exact same thing on Talking Dead when Glenn first "died" to trick the audience.
Doesn't look like it.  Kim Dickens appeared on Talking Dead with other cast members. There was a teary sendoff and goodbyes takes from other cast not in the studio.

Hopefully we get a Madison zombie walking around next episode.

My God that was dumb.  Real dumb.  I will watch because John Dorie has promise as a gunslingin' zombie killer, but the rest of the boobs are just terrible.  I was hoping that camera chick plunged Alicia's huge knife thingy into her.   Bad acting supplied with worse writing.

Oh ####- didn't know it had started up again and definitely shouldn't have looked at your spoiler!
So the latest Colony episode jumped forward a bit?  Now they are just in another colony with suspicious stuff goings on just like the show started over.  And Katie of all people fell for it hook, line and sinker.  Ugh.

What about 12 Monkeys, have you watched that?  I watched the first half of the very first episode and it seemed to have promise, although I hate backwards time travel.

Guess the new season isn't wowing anyone. Had to do a forum search just to find the thread. Sort of enjoyed the episode. Watched it while working out, so took my mind off the aches and pains. Maybe I enjoyed it a little simply because I hadn't sat through it in a while. I will say it reinforced my mindset that I simply could not care less if a character dies though. Seems like a bunch of self-centered jerks partaking in pseudo-destructive behavior that should easily lead to their deaths. If they don't care if they die, why would I?

I don’t know why they do that. Some stuff is just stupid. Little girl all of a sudden has a conscious and runs from the two people who had no hard feelings? Depp’s widower gets mad at girl but then goes after her and doesn’t close the door on the way out? I may still watch while there’s nothing new on but as you said, I don’t really care. Definitely didn’t wow me but at least it didn’t make me not want to watch anymore.

I thought it was sorta neat that Morgan teased about going back to Alexandria, and wanted to take the rest of them with.  My wife said "Yay!  Morgan is going back to the other show!"

Didn't hate the episode but there were some LOL moments. When the walkers were being swept away by the storm/wind, the trees weren't even swaying like they would on a breezy summer day.  Bodies were slamming into the truck and tree branches weren't moving in the background.

Writers room:  "Hey have you seen those sharknado movies?  Maybe we could do something like that!"

Please god, tell me someone gets eaten by a flying zombienado in episode #2.

They might as well just embrace the absurdity at this point.  Have Strand fly into the mouth of an Andre the Giant zombie with a chainsaw.  Have Tara Reid and Cassie Scerbo show up to fight off the zobmies with their cleavage hanging out.  They could really turn this series around if they wanted to.

you are making me want to watch this show now

There was a two minute preview/commercial for this season that DVR recorded. That looked great, but  at the comments in here.. looks like I'll keep staying away
