Thank you both. Will do.
You'll end an episode and say to yourself... OK one more, then I have to go to bed. After a while you'll be like, #### it, I can go a day without sleep.
No you will say, I will give it one more episode to get better or I am quitting...OK one more episode...Promise, the payoff of the season 2 final episode is worth it
:goodposting: Almost gave up multiple times. I stuck around after the changes were announced in the middle of season two.Glad I did. Night and day, imo.

Saw that today.. The Photo's and the below "spoiler" have me :excited: for season 3.
Not having read the comic books I thought the Prison was going to be a semi-safe zone similar to the Farm.. But then saw this quote:

What’s important to us is the prison itself is now a character in the show. It’s a haunted house, it’s scary, it’s frightening, and there are parts of the prison that are always terrifying, that are always inaccessible to our group. It’s not necessarily the blessing that the prison in the comic book turned out to be.”

So juat how awesome is this show? I'm gonna start watching it via Netflix next week. Is it on the same level as Breaking Bad (in terms of awesomeness)?

No, not close. It is a step or two down from Breaking Bad or Mad Men. But it has it moments and finished really strong at the end of Season 2. And season 3 looks to be really good

Honestly, the show is really terrible. But nonetheless extremely entertaining.

I disagree 100% on that.personally, I thought the darabont eps were best, and the s02 finale was weak.I was a walking dead junkie, but I don't hold out much hope for s03.

It's a terrific show. I was surprised at how much better it got in Season 2 after Darabont was fired given how instrumental he was in developing the show and delivering the first season. But I think the show has gotten better without him. It's progressed at an impressive rate and the second half of Season 2 built and built to an outstanding finish. I haven't read the comics but by all accounts the upcoming storylines which will be the centerpieces of Season 3 are the meat of the books so things could get even more amazing next season.

there was some stuff floating around the net about the budget issues for s02, and what most likely led to darabont's departure.the network wanted to cut budget after a hugely successful s01, so they were sending them shownotes asking if maybe we could just hear the zombies instead of seeing them to save make up budget, etc.

here it is

I think the show's great. You don't. We disagree. Funny how that works.

There was also stuff posted in this thread about Darabont's plans for the premiere which in my opinion would've sucked. So from the sounds of it there were a lot of issues on both sides which resulted in him getting canned.

In any event, I don't think the show misses him at all which I acknowledged to be surprising given how significant his role was in developing the show and bringing the first season to life.

You know you are in a small minority here

I have no idea what the % is, but I have heard a lot of people who have both liked and disliked it.then again, an assload of people like two and a half men, and michael bay, so I'm not sure if number of people liking something is much of a measure.

I think you're the first person I've ever seen that prefered the earlier parts of the series to the later installments. This is hard to wrap my mind around.

a ton of people complain about s02, but that's kind of a pointless conversation.

I liked s02 a lot, but the darabont eps were better.

the question is the s02 finale, in particular, and it was phoned in.

edit: the finale was more like the previous ep.

I remember watching the first few episodes when it started, it wasn't bad but was kinda slow IIRC. Does the pace pick up, or is it a slow build with character development?

s02 is actually slower than s01, which is generally the source of complaints.but, what you should know is that kirkman, the guy who created the comic, wrote it not so much as a zombie story, but as a story about people, using zombies as furniture.so, if you're looking for just a bunch of L4D action, you'll probably be disappointed, although some i sprinkled in there.

It's more of a slow build without character development.
Middle of season 2 is tough to get through. It's easier if you are not watching it weekly though. I'd get through the first 2 seasons and try to watch it in real time in season 3. End of 2 was pretty cool.

Once you get to the end of Season 2 and see everything that's gone down the deliberate pacing earlier in the season makes a lot of sense. There were so many huge payoffs in the season that I think needed the time that was spent setting them up was necessary and ultimately effective. Because of that the deliberate pace never bothered me while it was going on but there were definitely fans and critics who wanted more "action" than the season was delivering early on. There's definitely no shortage of that in the second half of Season 2 and the last two episodes are very intense because everything reaches a boiling point and (literally in some cases) explodes.I think it's worth noting that the slower-paced episodes of Season 2 came when Darabont was still in charge. The pace certainly picked up in the episodes following his firing but by all accounts that was the plan for the season all along - slower pace in the first half/more intense in the second half.

I got through the middle of season 2 by mockery. There was some major terrible there, but I chckled my way through it. Second half of S2 is much better.

That's a little unfair. The episodes devoted to T-Dog really do a good job fleshing him out.
He gave it everything he had during those two sentences in Season 2.

Bottom line is if you love zombies then this is a show you will love. The zombies are some of the best ive ever seen in any movie or show. The special effects are top notch . Enjoy the gorefest !!!!!!

you guys can laugh all you want, but I'd be hiding too if I overheard a bunch of white people talkin' about lynching someone.they were all in there in that room deciding that kid's fate, t-dog walks by with a plate of waffles and that's the last we see of him.

btw, for those who haven't seen them, there is a series of 2 min shorts on the amc website that chronicle a little side story as the plague hits.

there's a cool ending that ties it into the main series.

When do they get to the CDC(?), I missed that part of the series and would like to catch it. End of season 1 or beginning of season 2? Or did I miss it already?

Hungover today where it hurts to move and like water to wine, The Walking Dead marathon on. I've been meaning to finally watch Season 1 so it was good getting the backdrop on characters. Look forward to catching up on this thread and answering any questions you losers may have.

Character development? :lol:I enjoy the show but the characters are awful and there is very little development of almost all of them. That, and the writing is cheesily terrible. But it has zombies so I keep watching.

Man, I am zombied out. I have spent ALL day catching up. I'm currently watching the third episode of season 2 (episode 9 of 19) and I need just one thing answered which I'm unclear on. Please don't spoil anything I haven't seen yet in your answer.

What I want to know is, does every person who dies eventually become a "walker?"

I know the doctor at the CDC said it the transformation to zombie can happen in just a few minutes, or it could take up to 8 hours. But when Rick left the hospital in the series premiere, there were bodies on the ground everywhere covered in sheets. Why weren't they walkers? And the dead guy in the car on the highway who Carl took the knives off of... why wasn't he with the zombie herd walking the highway?

Etc.

Thanks.

I stopped after S2 E1 but have the rest DVR'd now. I wanted to watch when they were originally running S2 but knew I had to start from the beginning, so I'm glad they ran the whole series this weekend while it's 102 degrees in NC. I also watched a little of the beginning of 28 Days Later last night, such a great movie. I know they're not technically zombies but they're much faster & more violent, I'd rather face the Walking Dead zombies! I'm not knocking the show, just sayin...

yeah, that's answered later, but the army had been at that hospital you mentioned, so all those bodies under the sheets might've been shot in the head.

Walking Dead rocks. 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later are two of my favorite zombie/horror movies, could and have watched them repeatedly. Danny Boyle ever gets around to doing 28 Months Later, I'll be right in line to see it at the movies.
