***OFFICIAL 'The Walking Dead' TV Series Thread*** (3 Viewers)

Caught up on the last two episodes today - getting better. For the first time, I was pretty disappointed when the show ended.

Why didnt they scour outside of the CDC for military grade weapons? Seems to me there was an M60 right at the beginning of the bunker.

I know its petty but its the first thing I would do.

No way. You have a large group of people with you and night is approaching. You need to find shelter, stat. You already have enough weapons to fight your way past a few zombies in an emergency. If you don't find shelter it doesn't matter how many weapons you can carry.

Why is dark more dangerous than night?

What? Who said it is? I said night is approaching. Night is more dangerous than day because people get tired, it gets cold, and you can't see the zombies coming as quickly.

gotcha. Its seems to me though that guns would be really easy to get. They portray it in the show as kindof hard.

Okay, I have enjoyed the show, but the one small problem I have is where are all the zombies?

I sort of understand that they are not out as much in the day, but when Rick rode into Atlanta, there were hundreds of them in the street and then they ate his horse. Atlanta has a population of what--half a million? Don't you think they would be out in droves-especially if they are running out of food.

You just think there would be more "random" zombie encounters, but there are huge stretches of non-zombie areas.

Just a small beef, but I do think the show is picking up and hitting its stride....

I can see guns/ammo as being hard to come by. Let's face it - if a zombie outbreak hits the area gun shops everywhere are being raided. You might find one or two somewhere along the road but for the most part they'll be scattered amongst the deceased. And good luck digging through the city to find that. I think most survivors would have used a LOT of ammo in the first couple of weeks...after that it would be rather hard to come by.

I don't think it's a stretch to say the zombies would form herds. If you time it right you could probably slip past quite a few of them, despite their ability to 'smell' humans.

I think this is great news. The writing was more bad than good. Hopefully they'll focus on more zombies. I view this as AMC hearing the fans and striking while the ratings are still high, rather than doing what most shows do (milk the mediocre and only make changes once the viewers leave).
I meant "Ruh-roh" in the sense that the zombie :nerd: will be out in full force now. :ptts:

I wonder if that means Kirkman's influence is also lessened. I guess I'd be o.k. with that so long as this means the show improves in it's weaker areas, but I don't know that freelance writers are the best bet. Don't you want dedicated writers crafting a long plot, rather than writer-of-the-week type deals?

As long as there's some zombies killing people or getting their brains bashed in each week I'm happy. I didn't tune into this show to watch an award winner. I expect some cheesy, campy, gory fun.

That's good news. With the source material they have, all they have to do is make the characters believable and the dialogue not horrible. They have failed numerous times.I did think this last episode was the best one since the pilot.
^this^This show has HUGE potential but the writing has been mediocre at best (and I'm being charitable).

One thing people should take in mind is in the comic series a lot of these questions are answered as the series goes on (I think this one was answered somewhere around issue 60 - 70 or something. Not answered per se, but better understood). I think all of the questions about the zombies are on purpose and show that the survivors are in the dark and are more concerned with surviving day to day then having all of the zombie questions answered. I checked out the preview of the season finale on amc's website and I think they will aim to answer some of these larger questions on Sunday for the finale.

And I rarely stray from the wagering threads, but has footballguys become a screen writers guild? I love how people are absolutely hating on the show when the show has the best ratings for a cable TV show almost every week. I mean really, is it the writing and acting that horrible? I don't understand how people can not be thankful to have a show about zombies and enjoy it for what it is. Sure some of the dialouge is campy and seems a bit out of place, but realizing they had 6 episodes to try and sell their product the best they could, I am not surprised they took the multi-faceted appraoch to try and bring in as much of the mainstream as they could. They knew fnas of zombie movies would watch, but you have to give them credit for pulling such a huge audience at 10:00 on a Sunday night against the NFL. I can't imagine the millions who watch each week love zombies, so they must be doing a real good job at making this show a hit for a broader audience. And give the creators some credit, the story lines and questions will work themselves out fine. If the show goes like the comic, there will be more characters coming in upcoming seasons, and plenty of characters that people may like more.

As for the series, the CDC is a twist out of the blue. I had a talk today with a guy who has read some of the comics as well, and we tried to figure out what may be introduced into season 2. The spoiler stuff below is all based on the comic book, and could have some big spoilers, but i would like to hear some thoughts from people who are familiar with the comics what they think may happen in Season 2. If you haven't read the comics i would suggest not checking the spoilers because it could ruin a lot of the story lines for you:

2. I am guessing they will end next season either just getting to the prison or maybe half-way through the time at the prison. I figure they spend a few episodes hopefully introducing Tyrese and maybe trying the one housing community that didn't work for them. Then 4 episodes or so with the farm. The CDC storyline and Kirkman's "Vatos" episode showed they can stray in a completely different direction if they want, but the comics are good and i can't imagine they want to get away too far from them

3. My guess is the other big character they may bring in is Michelone (spelling may be off, sorry). I think she would be a better addition in Season 3, but there is no guarantee it will go that far. I read a comment before the series started that one of the producers was saying how excited he was to bring her into the story on the show because her character is so good.

4. I wonder how many of the added characters stick around. I was worried T-Dog would be the version of Tyrese, but he isn't like Tyrese's character at all so i doubt it. I was also worried that the black woman would somehow be Michelone, but again i don't think that could work. I'm embarrassed to say, but there are not many black actors/actresses in big character roles on weekly shows and i was not sure if they could fit in Tyrese and Michelone

I'm sure of the hundreds of shows available, people decided to tune into one called "The Walking Dead" turned in for non-zombie related reasons. :goodposting:

No, that's GREAT news. I was sort of amazed that they fired them all, but in all honesty how could they not? The writing was 8th grade bad.I expecting season 2 to be much better now.

-If I'm working @ the CDC, I'm taking extreme caution when dealing w/ acid. Why would someone stick their rubber finger in acid?

-Do they have tom tom or something? I mean, how many people actually know where the CDC is located? Maybe because they are locals they do...:dunno:

:lmao: This show has gotten a lot better over the past couple of episodes. With competent writing, they could definitely get this thing turned around.

Also, can we get a summary of the link? It's blocked @ work.

Because then you have to deal with vampires too.

I'm not sure how good this news really is. If Frank Darabont had his hand in the writing as much as the article suggests then the writing might not improve. Looking over the AMC website the episodes that don't have Frank attached as a writer seemed to be the better episodes. Regardless I'm looking for to the finale and season 2.

2. As I said earlier in post, I am very interested to see if stay at the CDC is short or long. If long it could cover some/all of the prison stuff. I believe for Grant that they need to get to the farm or equivalent at some point otherwise his character does not grow.

3. Michonne, Andrea will probably become more actiony ,as she does in the book, but I see no reason not to have Michonne. Katanas Rule!

4. Daryl for sure at least until the Merle(is he the Governor) story line plays out.

Somewhat of a non-sequitur- ( Ithought of this based on the question regarding "where are all the zombies in Atlanta?)

What happens when a zombie doesn't get live flesh?

Normal course of events, person dies, becaomes a zombie, and then gets an insatiable taste for living flesh.

BUT, if all the living are dead, there may be a "living flesh" shortage. Do the zombies who don't get the living flesh "die" of starvation?

Having just read The Passage I suspect that after a certain amount of time they would die of starvation but it would take a long time. They can still feast on animals if humans aren't around but sooner or later the supply would run out.

In The Passage, weren't they technically vampires?

Flesh is energy. They need calories to move. Eventually, they will burn through all calories and quit moving. I'm not saying they will die, just quit moving.

I was willing to let that go, thinking that as a law enforcement official the cop might have known where the CDC was

Why can't they eat dead flesh then? A big ol' zombie eating orgy?
