***OFFICIAL 'The Walking Dead' TV Series Thread*** (5 Viewers)

From the Talking Dead, Kirkman says the last 3 episodes are indicitive of the pace in season 3. Sounds like good news to me, can't wait.
THR: Last year there was a lot of behind the scenes turmoil with Frank Darabont's departure, with Glen's addition coming during in the middle of the process. How are you approaching not just your first full season(3), but also your biggest, with 16 episodes?

Mazzara: The show is a bear to produce, but we have a great team that now has figured it out. What we've done in these past seven episodes is make each a thrill ride. I guarantee there is no filler in Season 3; there's no stretching it out. Every episode is going to land a punch. Every episode is going to continue to be just as packed, just as dense as these last few episodes. We've hit our stride and I'm looking forward to the challenge. I'm not nervous about it at all.

Kirkman: We've pretty much completed the bulk of the first half of the season. So, the first eight episodes are pretty much locked. We're moving forward full steam ahead to try and make sure that Season 3 is as explosive and just as dramatic and awesome and compelling as the last half of this season has been. I think we've got some really cool things in store.

Danai Gurira cast as Michonne.
hmm, looks like she could pull it off. i got nervous when they talked about Tara from True Blood being cast for it, but this lady looks like she may pull it off. I don't want to look too much into her though, I learned my lesson when I thought Khal Drogo from Game of Thrones was a real bad ###, than i saw him in some interviews and stuff and it completely killed the character for me. Drogo should not be wearing a scarf, no matter the situation

Great season finale.

No so Spoiler Spoiler - don't read further if you want to wait for next season (as I believe they'll divulge this then):

There was one other thing that the CDC guy told Rick. When you carry the Walker virus you get superhuman powers of marksmanship. Sorry to spill the beans.

According to The Talking Dead one of Merle, Daryll, or Morgan will appear. I would assume that means Merle as the other two are a pair.

Let me stress with the utmost urgency. If you do NOT want next week spoiled, do NOT click on the following synopsis of next week. I'm a sucker for spoilers. I always hate reading them afterwards. But this one is a DOOZY. Can't wait for Sunday.

Shot opens in Atlanta: a group of walkers are feasting on what looks like Rick's horse, or what's left of it, when they're startled by the sound of a helicopter flying overhead. The horde migrates over several days, weeks, a great distance, and eventually comes to a fence. The fence bows and breaks under the relentless forward motion of the walkers. The herd presses on. Wandering aimlessly in the forest, the walkers turn as a gunshot goes off like a beacon, leading them to dinner. Soon they are closing in on Rick and Carl, as they leave the scene of Shane's murder.

Daryl and Glenn arrive back at the farmhouse. They explain that they heard a gunshot, and share their confounding findings about Randall. As they walk back to the house, Carl asks Rick about what happened to Shane. Soon after, they notice the walkers bearing down on them, and it's not long before they are overtaken and have to make a run for the barn.

Back at the house, the rest of the survivors are just figuring out that Carl is missing and walkers are approaching. Lori is panicking. Hershel passes out the guns. The horde is making quick work of the barn. Rick dumps gasoline everywhere, busts open the door to lure the zombies inside, and climbs up to the loft with Carl. Carl drops a lighter into the gasoline-soaked hay, igniting everything in sight.

Meanwhile, the men and Andrea shoot from their cars in a futile attempt to corral the herd and buy time. Finally, Daryl figures out that Rick and Carl must be in the barn, and instructs Jimmy to drive the RV to the barn to rescue them. Rick and Carl manage to barely escape, while Jimmy is devoured inside the RV. Blood is everywhere, coating the windshield.

The survivors are starting to run out of ammo. The horde is too large. The women hold hands and make a run for it as Hershel makes a last stand for the farmhouse. They are just about clear when Patricia is attacked from the side and is devoured while Beth is still holding onto her. Carol is headed off by a few walkers and backed into a corner with nothing but a plank of wood to defend herself. Andrea saves her but is attacked from behind and gets pinned under a walker. T-dog pulls his car around, but quickly has to leave the scene with Beth and Lori before the car is overtaken.

Glenn tells Maggie that the farm is lost; they have to get off the farm, now. Hershel comes to the same realization, almost too late, as a walker sneaks up from behind. Rick saves Herschel and they along with Carl head out in their own direction. Glenn and Maggie take off as well. Daryl finds Carol about to collapse from running, and they speed off together on Daryl's motorcycle. Andrea is abandoned. The barn collapses into the flames. And we're not even halfway done.

The group is now scattered. Glenn and Maggie switch places in the car as Maggie breaks down and can't continue driving. Glenn says they need to make their way to the highway, but Maggie protests that the herd came from that direction. Glenn finally tells Maggie that he loves her. Rick, Carl, and Hershel arrive at the highway, where they left the care package for Sophia, hoping that the others will think to rendezvous here. Hershel is ready to part ways, but Rick wants to stick together.

Lori and T-Dog argue over where to drive. T-Dog wants to head to the coast, but Lori threatens to jump out of the car if he doesn't turn around and go back to the highway. A walker appears on the highway. Rick is about to give up on waiting any longer, but… in the nick of time, the other survivors arrive. Time for a head count:

Shane - dead

Andrea - missing

Patricia - taken by the walkers

Jimmy - splattered all over the RV

Meanwhile, Andrea is running for her life in the woods, but the walkers pursue her tirelessly. She can't keep this up for long. Walkers are emerging from the trees in random directions as Andrea shoots to clear a path. The survivors leave the highway, pushing onward, but soon run out of gas. Several people start to panic and are on the verge of giving up. Rick tries to pull everyone together.

The conversation turns to Randall and Shane. Rick has to come clean. He reveals that the secret Jenner whispered to him at the CDC was that everyone is a carrier of the infection. The group is not happy that Rick has kept this from them. Lori and Rick talk privately. Rick tells her what went down with Shane, and confesses that it wasn't just self-defense… he wanted Shane dead, he was tired of Shane dogging him and acting like Rick stole Lori and Carl from him. Lori freaks out when she finds out Carl's role in Shane's death and withdraws from Rick, refusing to let him touch her.

Andrea is exhausted. This is the end of the line. She can't carry her gun-bag any longer, her pistol is out of ammo -- she bashes in a walker's head with it -- now she's down to knives, another walker practically on top of her… enter Michonne to save Andrea at the last minute, towing two armless walkers in chains, samurai sword in hand.

The rest of the survivors set up camp in the middle of nowhere. They may have found each other again amid the chaos, but the group is still broken. Many are ready to run off into the dark and leave Rick behind, fend for themselves. They are on the verge of splitting up again, when Rick takes back control... he says they're not going anywhere; he killed his best friend for them. This isn't a democracy anymore.

The camera pans up… in the distance looms a prison facility.

End of Season 2.
:headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: Woot! Cannot wait!I'm real glad i was able to skip this during the week. It certainly was accurate

I still think they have some errors with previous shows, but to those predicting the CDC whisper correctly, kudos. Got things to do, or I'd post more.
Cool, I didn't think Rick put the head shot in the fat guy to prevent another zombie from appearing. From Mazzara's comments tonight, the seemed to me to be saying Rick didn't believe the (crazy guy) from the CDC until Shane turned. To me this means he was just killing PEOPLE in the bar and not worried about future zombies, and that he wasn't waiting around for Shane to turn, only grieving over what he had to do to a former friend.Yeah, I get that it's easy to say, "no, I'm right in thinking exactly the opposite way" now, but I think the writer's comments tonight back me up a little more. For all my concerns about the acting and writing in this show, I think they at least had the foresight to develop this point of contention into the show for fans discussing on various forums and internet media. I previously thought the actor playing Daryl was the only good actor on the show, but a person pointed out to me they thought Rick was poorly written so far. I thought he shined tonight.

Pretty sure we're going to be losing some more of the group next week. Some predictions:Maggie's sisters boyfriendOtis' wifeT-DoggT-Dogg was involved a ton this week, so i thought they were going to kill him off this one. but combined, these 3 may have 1-2 minutes of airtime average for the season. Maggie's sister is close to the chopping block too, but i think she'll stick around. her boyfriend seems real useless though
:bowtie: 2 out of 3, not too shabby

Kid in the RV got a raw deal. Rick should have pounded on the RV roof for him to get going, once they climbed on the roof. Or he should have pulled up door side out, but there might not have been time for that.

Carl is being really annoying "I'm not leaving without mom." "I'm freezing."

A few Observations and questions:

1. Remember when they first got to the farm and Hershel said "No Guns" , do you think he was worried about walkers hearing the gun shots and coming or was it just because of the walkers in the barn.

2. Why was Lori mad at Rick after she told him he had to kill Shane? Isn't that what Lori wanted him to do after they had the conversation in the tent.

Should've been Carl in that RV

1. Hershel is Rick's dad.2. Lori still wanted Shane's member. She doesn't love Rick anymore, and Rick and Shane both knew it. That's why Rick killed Shane.

I thought Lori was mad because Carl finished off zombie-Shane.

Lori is an irrational shrew, and she's not even hot enough to overlook any of her flaws. She is comprised of equal parts bad writing, bad acting, inconsistent tendencies, annoying facial expressions, #####y rants, horrid parenting, whiny complaining and insufferable entitlement. She is an instrument used to create drama by reacting wildly and unpredictably. None of her emotions or responses have to make sense or be built up to. She is probably the most unlikable, poorly conceived character in the history of fiction in all its forms. Much of the motivation of the main characters revolved around the conceit that Lori is worth fighting for, worth dying for. She's the object of desire for the two strong males, the mother of the lone child, that what must be protected at all costs, and she is not only unappealing--she is an insult of stupidity, aggravation and below-average attractiveness.

Season 2 recap ( link has some season 3 "spoilers"
Lori’s disgust over Rick killing Shane confused me a little. Didn’t she just a few episodes ago all but order Rick to whack him?

A lot of that anger [she's expressing] could be directed at herself. I think she feels partially responsible for sending these two men on a path. That’s the moment where she found out that Shane was dead. And not only did she find out that Shane was dead, but her husband totally killed the guy! This was a family friend. This was a guy that used to come over on weekends and watch football in the house and things like that. It was a really emotional moment that is going to drive her a little batty. Having to handle those emotions and looking at the guy that kind of caused the situation, she’s not going to be considering, “Oh, yeah. I did this. I should calm down.” She has these emotions and she doesn’t know what to do with them.
I was just as  last night as most of you, but this explained it.

Great Finale!!! :excited:

Loved how they wrapped up some of the questions..

The secret from the CDC guy, which most of us figured, they are all infected.

Where did the Horde of Zombies come from.. They followed the noise in the air.. While wandering through the woods they heard the gun shot that killed Zombie Shane and changed direction.

Glad someone posted the spoiler above about the person in the hooded cloak. The Season 2 recap brought up that it was Michonne, but not having read the comics yet I wasn't sure who Michonne was.

Can't wait until fall!!!

Aside from some of the stupid stuff that I can overlook in the name of suspension of disbelief -- scoring perfect headshots from moving vehicles, shotguns that never need reloading, "hey, let's set the barn we're trapped in on fire!," no good rendevous location despite having had weeks to plan for this contingency, etc. -- this past season has been light-years better than the first. Looking forward to some new characters in Season 3.

So the helicopter going to ??? caused the migration of zombs to HershalFarm? Ok.

I hope a hooded, armless zombie enslaver person comes to my aid someday when I am in dire straits.

Laurie prego with zombie child, chilling.

Carls hat should be smacked off his head.

I'm a trained, professional chef. I'm leading a group of people who are hungry during a zombie apocolypse and need to find the perfect place to prepare and serve them a meal. If only I could think of such a place....

All this time, and even during that speech, Rick never had the thought: "Hey, we should head for a prison!"

If Rick had read The Zombie Survival Guide, he would know:a) Don't try to set zombies on fire.b) Prisons make great fortresses.

I dont know... I've been watching and have really enjoyed both seasons, but last night's episode wasnt that good (IMO). The walker's abilities really seem to vary from show to show. Sometimes they can run, sometimes they can only walk slowly. In season one, Rick was shooting at them from an upstairs window. They never tried to push through the door, but now - no house is safe. Rick and Carl are running through the hundreds of walkers - but none of them really notice - or can pick up speed to catch them.

They spent all that time on the farm and never even discussed what they'd do if a horde showed up? No rondevous point? No root cellar that they could hide in? No idea that there were more walkers than they had bullets?

Lori's series of reactions was ridiculous. Nothing about her character makes sense. The way Rick told the crowd that he'd killed Shane was ridiculous. How about starting out with "he had me at gunpoint and was going to kill me." Instead he goes with something about killing Shane for them because its what they all wanted. Also, if Shane was leading Rick way into the woods, howcome the Rick/Shane scene went down in the field just past the front yard.

I also dont like how everyone is willing to lay themselves down so that Rick, Lori & Carl will survive. The dude in the RV didnt need to fully stop or open his door. He didnt need to wait for Rick and his moron son to climb down the ladder. Hershel is now of the mind that there is nothing more important than protecting his own family - but apparently this only applies to Rick and his family because Hershel certainly had no problem sending his family out to fight off the horde - Mad Max style.

Why cant they keep an eye on Carl? Carl is certainly old enough to understand that he shouldnt be walking in the woods alone.

Frankly, if Rick was concerned about the group, he'd shoot his wife and use the handcuffs to lock Carl up until he learned not to wander off.

This episode reminded me of an old horror movie where the 'soon to be victims' completely irrational behavior leads to their demise. I'd like them to advance the story based upon circumstance and good writing - rather than relying on people acting totally irrational.

Comic book nerds wanna explain the zombies on a leash thing?
:goodposting: with no arms
Bump.
A mysterious African-American woman armed with a katana, Michonne first appears when she saves Otis from a group of zombies. She used to be a lawyer in Atlanta, Georgia. She had a father, a mother, two sisters, a brother, an ex-husband, two daughters, a boyfriend, a mortgage, and a whole lot of other things. When the dead returned to life and began attacking the living, the first place Michonne went was her neighbor’s house. His son, a high schooler, was a sword junkie that used to cut up the fence between their yards, and killed their cat. Michonne grabbed one of his katana swords. It was easier than finding a gun, and it wouldn’t draw any attention to her. She had taken fencing as a child, and then again in college, and had gotten pretty good at it. Not to mention that it helped work off some of the steam of her seventeen years of college.Michonne herself had two zombies in tow, her boyfriend Mike and his best friend Terry. Both in shackles and having had their jaws and arms cut off, Michonne mentions that after a while they stopped trying to attack her and their presence decreased the chances of other zombies attacking.
 good spoiler tho
