the lack of closure with the governor situation is what really got me... i don't understand carrying his storyline into another season.
(i haven't read the graphic novels and not sure how big of a part he ends up playing... but come on!)

They haven't got to that point on the show yet. He shot that kid (the twin that killed his brother) on the way to that little city that's by DC that they got recruited to.

It was kind of funny that one of the routed Woodbury commandos (Karen?) wailed about how it was a massacre... despite not one person actually getting shot, on either side.All that for Philip to run off and Woodbury to join the prison.anticlimactic.
the elderly, women, and children! woopie.
even the 10 minutes of fighting at the prison was meh... alot of shooting at nothing and blowing up towers.

No idea, but whatever it is, I hope they are all roaming. Most of the appeal (for me, anyway) of season 1 was all of the choas, trying to get to Atlanta or the CDC or anywhere else that will be safe. But once they are there, hunkered down, the story drags. I want to see them on the run every week. Let's see what the rest of the country looks like. Surely the show has a big enough budget to make that happen by now.

He has to set up shop somewhere else first though. He is with two other guys, in a military style truck with some big guns. He needs to get secure before he can worry about the prison.the governor!
The prison group still has to cover ground with some supplies and such. There will be more order in the coming season and from that order will come turbulence. What and how that will be is no one's idea right now. I wonder if the prison group is going to fix the perimeter fence now.

Just thought it was weird. Seemed like the flash bangs were preset, although maybe they weren't. But Rick, Daryl and Miccione could have upped the body count (from zero).

The best drama on this show isn't necessarily when there is imminent danger; it's when there is the constant threat of imminent danger. Walkers coming towards them on a dirt road? I agree, not that tense. But whenever there are situations where you don't know what will happen next (camping out on the side of a mountaintop and the walkers attacking the camp, hiding underneath cars parked on a freeway, or asleep in a farmhouse and a herd makes its way right for you)...those are the kind of things that created tension and drama. When they are holed up in the prison totally safe, they are just that -- pretty safe.
I remember when they were at the CDC and thinking it was actually a relief that they were able to find someplace secure, because they had been under duress for just about 100% of the series to that point and they could FINALLY take a break. And as a viewer, I felt like I could finally exhale a bit. But now, I find myself at times completely bored by the show. Aside from the Gov, Woodbury never seemed like they wanted all-out war. And with the walkers mostly at bay, there wasn't much to be afraid of this past half season.
Like I said, I don't need walkers coming from all angles and a ton of blood and guts. Just let me feel that there is danger all around them at least.

They had that whole "fight the dead, fear the living" tagline going into this season and I think they over-did it. Fortunately they did say that they agreed they took it too far with the walkers just kind of "being there" and no longer being a threat and that they were going to fix that in season 4.

Maybe somebody already said this (I couldn't read through the dreck from most of the people in this thread, and the few that I read didn't hit this), but you know what would have made sense? You've lured all of the fighters from woodbury to a particular place...maybe someplace smallish, with concrete walls and steel doors. Then you CLOSE THE DOORS AND LOCK THEM.
It's a freaking prison. They walked into the cell block. Really? Flash bangs and make them run? You could lock Tyrese's group in the exact same room, but when you're setting a trap you can't just close the door behind them? Let em starve. Throw walkers in. Let them turn on each other. Shoot them. No, you drive them out. Brilliant plan.

Am I the only one that was massively disappointed with that prison attack scene. What an utter let down. It was all setup perfectly to lock them in the prison and just take them all out or let loose a ton of walkers on them. I mean they all just ran out and jumped in the trucks and off they were.....
Best part of the episode was when Rick got his ### chewed out by his kid for being a #####. What a fantastic retort by that little ####. Really saw him grow up with that response to killing the dude with no remorse.

I think the blond girl was singing one of her unending songs to Rick and Daryl and Michonne during the attack.
How do they not at least disable the trucks while all the Woodbury donks are in the prison?
At least we had the suspense of Andrea and her toes for about 10 minutes.

I typically accept the reality of most shows if you don't they just aren't going to work, but I am with you on this. I literally said the same thing, now that they are in there slam the door shut kick over some 50 gallon barrels of gas and this is over. At first I thought maybe they just wanted to drive them away but they were going to chase them to Woodbury to "finish it". Pretty silly, then no one shooting the guv when we went all Jonestown was the other point in this episode where I was thinking wtf.

Was wondering this too. She has always been able to handle walkers before. She had the pliers, just turn them around and stab him in the eyes with the handle end.

I thought the episode was anticlimactic, but I didn't hate it. Carl storms off when the Woodbury dependents drive up. I imagine his thoughts were "great, another 60 mouths to feed."
Seems they would have been more comfortable moving to woodbury. But who knows where the gov is now. The food situation and the likely state of waste disposal has to be a concern with that many people in there.
I don't mind them having the gov's story line bleed into the next season, but it better be good. That dude is bonkers.

The whole Milton/Andrea scenes were handled very poorly.. He tells her there is a tool behind her and she takes her time.. Then, once she does have the tool near, she takes timeout to have a conversation with him..
Just seemed like the writers had a difficult time trying to figure out how to "take her out" and ended up with a mish mash of ideas thrown together..
Really expected them to redeem her character and yet all we got was

The governor kept on and on about in this world it's kill or be killed. The only one that is taking that as truth is Carl, and he isn't even with the governor. I think the writers' intentions are to show Carl growing up with this same type of attitude. He wants his dad to stop being a #### and start being more like... Shane.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Carl butt heads with his dad going forward. Rick tried to be that way towards outsiders, but his morality eventually won out. Sometimes it cost the group the lives of some of their own, as Carl pointed out. Carl's heart is hardened as a result. He is more like the governor at this point than like his own father. Maybe he will hook up with the farmer's other daughter next season and turn her into a killer like him.

I thought the coversation was ok, but yes, she should have freed herself and had the tool ready before her dialog with him. I honestly thought Tyreese was going to come in and save her from Milton. Obviously they are going to develop his character next season, but so far, he is a a bit of a non-factor.

I will say that RIck is lucky it was Tyreese shooting at him or else he would have bit it.

Carl was right to kill that guy. That guy was part of a mob that just came into the prison looking to slaughter women and children. I don't recall anyone being instructed to take prisoners.
There's a good chance the guy had a side piece somewhere. Handing over his rifle didn't remove the threat. If they take his gun and just let him go, that's just one more person pulling the trigger the next time the Gov. invades.
There are times to try to find a way to trust people, but this was the opposite of one of those times.

I like how Daryl didn't want to follow Rick's lead by surrendering at the gate. He didn't want to put his hands in the air like a girl. That was great.
I also liked how Milton told Andrea "you better hurry." If you remember back in midseason, Milton experimented on the old man who was dying. His theory was he could spark memories in those who were turning and they could be tamed until they found a cure. The gov let him do the experiments hoping it would help Penny. At his death, Milton said forget all that... you better hurry because I'm going to get up and eat you.

I agree. The guy wasn't handing the gun over. He should have just put it on the ground and said "don't shoot". It was similar to when Karen gave up to RIck and Daryl. She could have gotten one of the guns of the fallen, but she was done. Just wanted to go home.
That guy in the woods looked more like he was dealing with an old man and a child. He looked like he was trying to get closer so he could grab Carl's gun.

I liked the episode, but I was pretty torn on the Gov. slaughter scene.
I buy that he'd snap and kill them all. It's awfully convenient for the Rick and the Gang, but I could see him doing it.
What I don't buy is the 2 dudes just watching, then getting in the truck with him.
Obviously, there's an initial shock and killing your leader is a tough thing to do, but come on. I'd have have to think they put him down somewhere after the 2nd or 3rd woman he guns down in cold blood, but if not then, at least when he puts down the gun and starts the truck. You tell him you'll catch the next ride and fire a few rounds of that MP5 into his ear.

Yeah, I agree.
I viewed Karen differently because (other than being a woman), she had just seen the Gov. slaughter all her people. They were sort of saving a refugee.
The guy was going to be, at best, a prisoner that could never be trusted.

I still liked this season, but i have been a little disappointed with the past 3-4 episodes. This week, was pretty weak.
No chance i would sit there and have a conversation with Milton if i was locked in a chair trying to get a tool to save my life. Andrea fought off 3 zombies when she was running away from Woodbury and she was in the woods hiding from the gov. All she had at that time was a little pocket knife.
If i was Martinez or the Ed Reed look a like, i would of killed the gov right then and there, what was going to stop the gov from shooting them right there.
How could Glen and/or Maggie miss so many people running out of the jail, they have been gunning zombies down from 200 feet away, but they cant shoot a mob of people coming out of a doorway.
It seemed like the writers were trying to shore so much stuff up in one episode that they rushed through it all.

I didn't get that impression. But yes, it would've been a really dumb idea if that's what they were doing.
Woodbury had a lot of people and a lot of guns. No reason not to take them out when you have a shot.
Then again, this whole season is about people not taking people out when they have a shot.
