***OFFICIAL 'The Walking Dead' TV Series Thread*** (9 Viewers)

A lot of setup, I liked it. Especially the raining zombies set piece. Thinking the kid had the flu just like the hog then passed out, fell and smashed his skull. We'll see lots more dying soon and probably a few betrayals such as whiskey grabbing new guy. Fences will fail before much longer I bet as well. Lots of hints about more and more walkers at the walls. the junp 5-6 months ahead was the time they spent establishing this safe community, we get to come in and see things just as they start to fall apart.

I know after a few months you may get comfortable but I'd be sleeping with my cell door closed at all times.
You really think the kid smashed his skull? I'll bet he's running through the cells biting people in the first 15 min next week. (edit, on re-read you probably meant that's how he died, I figured he was dead when he hit the ground.)Good call on sleeping with the cell door closed. Only smart.
Yeah, I was thinking knocked his skull but didn't smash the brain. I guess it makes more sense that the illness/fever he had just straight up killed him. Not a big deal either way as I agree he'll be munching on someone soon.

As for Rick being alone, I'll easily let that pass. They were pretty easily moving in and out of the gates, even with the buildup of walkers which Carol pointed out was the worst it had been in at least a month. I think we can assume that we are jumping into the story when a large herd has stumbled on or gotten close to the prison.
Will put this in a spoiler in case people are avoiding the season previews:

In the season preview trailers they showed a bunch of dead animals leading up to the fence line and someone saying " Someone's leaving a trail right to us"..

They saif that this is the set up episode to the entire season and that many of those little throw away moments are just foreshadowing things for the upcoming shows. I am waiting for the real roller coaster ride to begin.

Ok gave this show another shot after I quit watching in season 3.

1). Again didn't like the woman in the woods - very predictable.

2) The Airborne zombie attack was funny, complete with a paratrooper stuck in the tree thing.

3). Blonde girl (whose boyfriend died) - she is pregnant. if there are two types of infections (A and B) then the pregnancy will be a mixed AB. It will become a zombie and eat out of the mother at the end of the season.

4). Glad to see ninja black woman still around - was it ever confirmed that her and Lori had a thing? Also who is the new black woman ?

Also don't think Carol's line of the walkers no longer being scattered was just a throwaway. Guessing that's going to foreshadow a possible change in their behavior.

I hope this "new breed" of zombies that they seem to be forcasting are not "fast zombies". I really hope they don't go that route.

I don't read the comics so I'm not sure if Kirkman has dealt with this at all but it does make sense that the walkers would evolve in some fashion over time.

 they didn't show what Eddie was.. baby zombie or just eddies head.
Seriously? The chick said they were on their way to their honeymoon. You think she was taking her baby on a honeymoon?
She said a LOT of :loco: things.. I was hoping for some twisted thinking like.. Husband Eddie died and was lost, but baby Eddie lived, then died and she kept it..

In reality.. I was just hoping for our first Walking Dead baby :kicksrock:

It was pretty clear as to who Eddie was and what/who was in the bag.

I'm not even going to bother learning New Black Guy's name.
:lmao: My mother-in-law used to live on this little piece of horse property in the high desert. There were always a bunch of semi-feral cats running around. She called them "barn cats". I asked her what the name of one of the cats was. She said "I don't name them. The coyotes pick them off at a pretty decent rate."

Well we know that they will have to leave the prison. So what would force them out? A couple of things I noticed. First, there are more people inside the prison then there was at the end of last season. Rick got credit from bringing some in during one of the exchanges. Second, they have plenty of food with the plants, farms, and animals. As the old guy said, pretty soon they wouldn't have to go out at all. So that leaves water as the only thing short of a wall breech to get them out. I don't think Daryl is the carrier of some disease. I think its in the water. One of the first scenes Rick dumps the water over his head. But that water looked like it came from a rain barrel. I guess we will see as the season goes on.

Oh, and btw, who walks around a darkened supermarket alone and in the dark??? Nobody thought to bring any sort of lanterns??? Idiots..

Helicopter in season one, that crashed was a Huey. This looked more like a Korea-Era helicopter. I don't think it was the same one...

The last shot spent a long time lingering on the water coming out of the shower head.

Yea, the water will force them out. Probably some floaters in the water supply or something simple.

maybe creepy lady from the woods WAS a walker.. the new breed can talk and think like humans?
when she came on I asked my son if she was a "talker walker".
Until they got to her campsite I wasn't sure if she was real or in Rick's head. But she did look more walker than human...

I do remember them saying that they boil water before they drink it. So if they get the water from a stream, river, etc...I think they have that covered. But water from pipes inside the prison? Not sure how they filter or clean that.

Pretty sure the conversation was about Daryl regularly bringing in survivors. He deflected by saying Rick brought in a bunch from Woodbury.

 They're not using water from the pipes. The shower water was coming from the barrel sitting right there, which is why the shower stopped eventually.

Any chance that helicopter is the one Rick saw in Season 1 and the one we saw in the Season 2 finale?
I believe we are suppoused to think the one Rick saw and the season 2 finale one was the one that crashed early in season 3. The pilot said that they had been hold up in a base protecting people for a while but that recently somehow a walker got inside (safe to assume they didn't know everyone is infected) and caused a chain reaction and pandemonium. In the chaos, he and his unit abandoned the base and were now on the move.

Minor detail, was the pistol Rick dug up in the beginning the one that Herschal dropped when he was pinned down in the grass when the Govenor attacked last season?

Yeah I know. I just meant that I didn't know if that water was rain water or what. Like the one they showed with Rick outside. Usually barrels like that are from captured rain water.

Not sure what the water has to do with anything. The kid left story time because he said he might get sick. I assume something he ate. It might have nothing to do with walkers at all. People die of natural causes and then they become zombies.

Now, this might be part of the growing accustomed to a routine, but I always thought one of the great parts of living in a prison was the ability to have doors closed, etc. You would think that they would have latches, etc. on every door just in case and close them all.

I'm not even going to bother learning New Black Guy's name.
I keep thinking he's a plant from the Gov. Something is off about him.
I was thinking he volunteered to go on that run b/c he knew about the heli crash and was looking for something.
I think he's a drunk.
I thought for certain he was hiding that he was bit when they showed him laying in his bunk, turns out Waldo was sick instead. I like the Govenor plant idea.

It could just be that he'll only look out for himself (they said he was alone when they found him) and he'll end up leaving someone to die or betraying them somehow.

at this point, with as much time as this series spends on foreshadowing, I am assuming the sick :porked: has something to do with what got the kid sick..

Guessing a virus of some kind, possibly infected food though..
