***OFFICIAL 'The Walking Dead' TV Series Thread*** (1 Viewer)

They're in a prison for God's sake...it's already secure. Lock the gates...all of them and put on the stinking riot gear whenever you go outside.

It's just ridiculous.

If I'm going out on a run, I'd be damn sure to be wearing two pairs of Levis, flannel, leather jacket and gloves. Some of these guys are running around sleeveless for christ sakes.
It wouldn't make very good TV if they always did the smart/practical thing.

Given the number of times we've seen ankle/lower leg bites on the show, it would make a ton of sense to use heavy canvas gaiters, much like were used in WW2 by American Rangers. Flexible enough to move, but the material is tough enough to withstand a human bite. Other vulnerable areas seem to be the forearms and the shoulder/back of the neck. I don't think a full set of armor is needed, but developing forearm bracers would be pretty practical. ( you could also have a dual use as a storage area or place to rig a watch or map on the inner forearm) Inside the compound, weight should be negligible ( you can just ditch it if you have to and it's still available to the community later) so they should be wearing heavy flak jackets and heavy kevlar helmets when dealing with the zombies, esp to consider friendly fire. Any designated driver should be wearing some type of ballistic armor. Hard to escape if you've shot your driver with friendly fire.

The use of skateboard helmets or ProTecs would be very practical, esp in conjunction with heavy duty goggles. They offer no ballistic protection, however they save on head trauma from getting thrown around, falling to the ground, or having things crash on top of you. All of them should be wearing shooting glasses. If you want to infect someone with tainted blood, easiest way to do it is through the membranes in the eye.

Real tactics would get pretty boring on the show pretty fast. Practical movement would be to move in teams of three, using stack concepts for single engagements ( i.e. all three directing their fire on one target) or, in an emergency, three can go back to back and form a small defensive circle and split their fields of fire.

At the prison, clearly the zombies are attracted via sight and sound. They could tarp over the innermost chain link gate, at least giving them some shielding from view. Also, a concept from the comics, using abandoned cars as barriers would be a good way to funnel zombies away from the fencelines.

The trap truck used by the Governor would be interesting to use as well. Structurally reinforce the cab area, then build a couple of gun towers on the roof. Use bait to get zombies onto the ramp and up into the large truck, then lift the ramp by some device on the roof to close it, now they are trapped. Drive them somewhere where you can back the vehicle up, and them open the ramp. Have some inner device used to bulldoze them out. If you can find an embankment, a good 60 foot drop would pretty much shatter the bones in most of the zombies falling.

A more practical living space would be inside a football stadium. They don't have the manpower to effectively defend the prison.
Why do you still have these keys?
Seriously, why would you put forth the effort? Are you 15 yrs old?

Who is feeding the walkers rats?

A Woodbury/Governor spy?
The little girl. She called him 'Nick'.
That's my guess too but who knows.
I thought that comment by her and the comment by her younger sister was quite clear.
What?
At the fence, with Carol, after her dad died. She complains that Nick the zombie is special and will probably be killed. Carol called her weak. Little sis said she's not weak, she's screwed up.

I rewatched those couple scenes and I don't think it was clear that they were blaming the rats on the girl(s). It seemed like everything was around Carol trying to make them stronger and not meant for a secondary meaning. Doesn't mean they couldn't have been doing the feedings, but I don't think those scenes were meant to say that.

I had a little bit to drink and also don't really pay attention to stuff, but what was the deal with the final scene tonight?
Someone killed and burned the 2 sick members who were quarantined. Scenes for the next episode suggest it was ninja black girl #2, which means it 100% wasn't her.

Were they people we knew? The lingering shot on the lance armstrong bracelet or whatever made think yes but I'm really dumb.

It was Karen from Woodbury (Tyrese's love interest) and Dave from Decatur (red shirt).

Definitely more intriguing this season to start with. A new threat that is much more vague than "that bad guy down the road." I like the approach and feel they're getting back to what made the show good. Zombies and how zombies #### up everyday life.

Lots of good pictures this week.

- focusing on the worms and then later the graves. Why are they not burning these bodies? Doesn't matter if the bodies are "far" away, worms still move. The conclusion of the show solves this equation... Burn the dead/sick. But, it may be too late as the worms spread the illness to the plants/animals and the soil is contaminated.

- fire. It's okay to burn the pig pen but not the bodies?

- baby crying. Noise attracts the zombies. Do anything possible to keep zombies away from the fences.

- defense (get it... fense is in that word). Do these people know nothing about defense? Some of them saw the Morgan's defenses. C'mon people. Defend the fenses by adding more barricades. And, use fire.

- canned food. Get it, store it, ration it. That is gold. Note, see above... Fire.

It really is a mystery how people so dumb survived this long.

They haven't shown it but I suspect cannibalism.

Would make sense. Also explains how they got sick.

I agree with most of this, except the fire bit. Last thing you want is burning zombies walking around, human (well, former) torches, lighting things on fire.

They have trucks, with limited fuel supply I presume, but Morgan wheeled the zombies to a place not close to him. Anything to keep them off the fences so that remains as secure as possible. Maybe the integrity of the fence can be fixed now that they found someone feeding them and can address it but anything to remain as safe as possible should be key #1. Unfortunately, the prison has been compromised from the inside.

Also, I know it would take much effort but trenches should also be an idea either now or in the future. Capture loads of zombies and then putting those on fire should be easier.

Why don't they use the boom box or car radio technique from the store to draw the walkers away to a hole/barn/bldg and keep some sort of attraction / distraction going to allow proper fortification of the prison.

Here is a thought. Lock your doors at night. I lock mine and I don't even have a world of zombies outside trying to eat my brains. Even if you used a clothes hanger lock, its better than a darn sheet as a door! Stupid people...

Lots of good suggestions here. I was thinking of having an animal suspended from a tree brach or artificially made post over a cliff. Blast music, have them see goat, reach for goat, fall 500 feet.

The thing that bugged me about the :porked: part was.. It's only a temporary move.. once the pigs are consumed the dead will return to the fence. Rick's look over to the fence seeing the dead back at it was a  moment.

Like many said, dig a trench, lead them there and have some of the pigs in the bottom of the trench.

The ending was a "what the.. " .... should make next week intense as they track down who did it.
