***OFFICIAL 'The Walking Dead' TV Series Thread*** (2 Viewers)

I thought Rick was a Sheriff's Deputy, not the full blown Sheriff?

It does seem a little funny to me that we are arguing so passionately about logic and rational thought processes in a world where the dead come back to life and eat people. And not from the standpoint of "oh, it's just make believe fantasy" but from the standpoint that if the dead did rise, everyone would be freaking the #### out. I would expect the vast majority of survivors to be bat-#### crazy or pyscho's like the woman in the woods or the hermit with the dead dog last season or Rick for a while when he was seeing Laurie or the sociopath Govenor.

I don't need to be part of a group for 5 years to know that I should shut my door during the zombie apocalypse.
This has all been covered.
Yeah, I know, only two sets of keys blah blah.

Here's the thing. Zombies aren't really adept at much beyond walking straight and growling. You don't need to lock or even shut the door all the way. Just shut it enough that a zombie can't get through and tie it with a piece of rope or chain. But, it's not like these people are a huge drug empire so it would probably be impossible for them to learn how to tie a knot.
So, what are you gonna do if the walkers do get inside the prison and hundreds of them come to your cell door? Are you going to ask them to leave? Wait them out?
That's like asking what would you do if 100s of prisoners escaped from your local prison. Doesn't happen does it? That's because the security measures of the prison are in place, i.e. locked doors. At most one or two prisoners occasionally escape from any given prison and you'd be protected from the occasional zombie if you'd just shut your damn door.

I think we can all agree that the writers decided to write a show where the characters don't think logically. I've accepted that and am going to keep watching this cheesy zombie show.
FWIW they came out and said this in either season 1 or 2 and it was talked about much earlier in this thread. Or at least that they said they write the characters to make mistakes and to not always make the best decisions, otherwise it'd be a boring show as someone else posted a few pages back.
No matter how good the show, these types of complaints just continue to happen. If everyone did everything perfect the show would suck...plain and simple. Same with The Wire, Breaking Bad, Sopranoes etc.People in general have flaws--open the internet and you'll see what I mean.
The characters in the Wire didn't take stupid actions. Take the early Barksdale empire. He had a good system in place. No using the pay phones, get new burners every couple of weeks, have the bar in someone else's name with no record, etc etc. The characters mostly behaved logically in their best interest. It took leg work on the part of the police to identify the guy running burners and exploit a weakness. The entire Barksdale organization didn't run around constantly doing stupid things that made no sense in order to move the plot. The individuals weren't perfect, but they were believable when they made bad choices that caused problems for the group.
Exactly. Bad things can happen even when people make great plans and do everything the best they can.
Thank you!

You're comparing the actions of a criminal empire thats been operting together as well as the police, versus the actions of random people lumped together due to the world ending and you're wondering why one set does this logically and another doesnt...

We expect logic from Barksdale and the police given their circumstance. It's stupid (IMHO) to expect it from random people, from random places, who did God knows what before being tossed together behave logically given their circumstances.
I would expect logic from the group of individuals who has been together for months surviving in a zombie apocalypse. Kind of like the organization they displayed at the Big Lots in episode 1 (minus the not working in teams once inside). Just like a group of individuals in a criminal organization trying to avoid the law. And going back to last season, remember there was a scene when a walker was inside the Woodbury compound and Andrea had to take it out. The idea of being in a safe haven and having someone turn isn't completely foreign to the people in this show. And with all the old people who came to the prison after the governor abandoned them HAD to give someone the idea that someone might just kick off in the middle of the night and be dangerous.

Spend the next six hours poking them in the head with my poking stick...all the while, snacking on my mre's and bottled water.

Keep a crowbar in my cell and bash their heads through the bars. Duh.
Like at the fence. Yeah, I guess that'd be simple. But then the little problem of them piling up, and the walkers behind them not being able to get to the door. I guess then you'd have to go out and move the dead walkers (haha), but then you'd have to deal with those behind them, away from the confines of the enclosed cell.
I guess everyone is also bombarded by the thousands of zombies and can't get out of their cells in order to help you clear yours?

Another thing about this show, how come they never say who's a Republican and who's a Democrat? Kind of hard to know who I'm rooting for and against.
Let's see...they don't use money and everyone shares everything.
That's actually an excellent point.
Let's see...they try to protect what they have and the zombies keep trying to tear down what they've established and bleed them dry.

Sorry of this has been answered, but who was feeding the mice to the zombies?
Still a mystery. Some suspects are...

Crazy teen girl just adopted by Carol

Carl to get his gun back

Military guy that seems shady
not a mystery at all. It was obviously #1. Do they have to spell put every single thing for you people? Maybe they should do obvious dexter voiceovers.
Disagree. I don't think Sophia 2.0 knows how to get past the first fence. The rat feeding obviously happened at the second (outer) fence.
Well at least you have some crack staff on guard duty at night who will notice someone with a flashlight in the dark at the fence after twenty or so more nights.

These aren't trained professionals and Rick's town was so small, they didn't even have flashlights...how can we expect them to consider having a night watch? It's not like they're constantly bombarded by zombies or have even been threatened by a one-eyed maniac who's still on the loose. Just pull your sheet closed and sleep like a baby.

Exactly. These people aren't Navy Seals. Next you're gonna tell they should stop sticking their hands in their mouths and shaking hands with each other.

Do the zombies sleep at night now? They have a huge buildup during the day and almost knock the fence down in broad daylight but there's no mention of them at night. Maybe they're tired of walking all day.

Hey is that big black prisoner still alive? I don't recall if they killed him off or not.
There's only room for one real black character at a time guy. He either died or they just eliminated him without mentioning it. The new guy's days are numbered.

Any suggestions for the setting of the coming companion Walking Dead series?

A winter/snow setting would be cool. Kind of like The Wall on GoT. Know it's cheap to shoot in Canada. Perhaps set in Minnesota/Wisconsin, somewhat close to Atlanta for a possible merge down the road?

Love finally getting to see the head in the basket. Still not understanding why not drop all the walkers that you see, they have to be dealt with sooner or later.

Didn't even think about this; good point.

Iirc, about 1 of every three folks in Atlanta are black. So wtf are black folks in the show? Just makes zero sense for everyone to be white. It's far from the most ridiculous aspect of the show but for some reason it really bugs me.

and no southern accents.

Is it really so difficult to get someone to appear on the Talking Dead that they've resorted to Marilyn Manson and Jack Osborne?

I've not caught the show before; are guests typically this terrible?

They might be better served by simply allowing some uber-fans to sit in.

I wondering if the guard duty has gotten lax and they sleep in the tower thinking that they'll wake up to the noise of the zombies reacting to anyone approaching. Zombies outside work as watchdogs.

I love Chris Hardwick.

How bout we just drop some banana peels Manson so they fall hilariously? Or hit them in the face with pies Manson?

No Marilyn Manson zombies cannot get pregnant.

:lmao:

These were the worst I've seen. Nathan Fillion was excellent.

Zombies rushed the fence because there were people out in the yard. At night if nobody is out there then there isn't a stimulus to activate them.

Though the argument could be made that the they would rush the person feeding rats to them.

And next week should be better with Chris Jericho.

This mini season is falling flat on it's face. I've been bored most of the time. What was today's episode about? A plague all over again seems redundant. Bring back the governor.

Outside of seeing Tyrone hack up some zombies, which I loved, it was basically the same episode as the last. I do wonder if they will give an explanation on why there were thousands of zombies in that one spot. And why did Daryl stop there for a minute before driving again? It looked like he sat there for a minute fooling around with the radio after seeing the hordes.

eta: Tyrone would kick the crap out of Rick, not the other way around.

Glad I'm not alone thinking this. These are the 3 worst episodes of the series.

Random people dying of the flu...thrilling.

Geez, you guys have ADHD or something. It's building up.

And, when all the zombies showed up, they were by their destination. In the background were tall buildings that looked medical so there must be something going on at that place to draw them there.

Couldnt the passenger play with the car radio?

And why on earth were they arguing with tyron in the beginning? Just tell him yes we will find the person who did this and move on. That was a pointless confrontation

BUT THERE'S A VOICE ON THE RADIO!!! So since Daryl and friends are traveling back by foot, I guess we won't find out anything about that for a few episodes.

I agree about dropping them any time you can safely, but Herschel is in no position to outrace other zombies if Carl's homemade silencer isn't that great. Also, Carl is still small, so he isn't a knife wielding machine, nor is gimpy Herschel, so you also have to remember that that one kill is a waste of bullets if that zombie becomes a wall zombie (most likely by following them) and killed by a "reusable" weapon. I was thinking the same thing and then thought a bullet isn't worth wasting. If it was an adult, then knife and dead zombie.

I agree, I kind of like the start, although the sickness thing could get old. It would be nice to get that done soon. Sure, Daryl could have paid attention to thee road and backed up quicker, but obviously the radio broadcast and them getting stranded by the herd is part of the story line.
