What a crazy fickle game in my two game set against SNC.

Get shutout with 3 hits on the AM game as Pete Alexander ruled in the scoring haven that is the Bakers Bowl.

Then, we blow up for 15 runs on 4 HRs including two grand slams at the HR eating ATT park.

If anyone has a Lefty 3B, perhaps a guy who is underperforming, I'd be willing to work something out. Could possibly include Rickey Henderson if its a top 3B back, work something else to get me an OF (preferably L). Could also look to move someone else if you have an idea, something smaller where I could get you back one of my righty 3B.
I might be willing to move Ventura. I like him because he gets on base and has 1B and 3B eligibility, but I could be convinced to trade him.
I'd need someone decent at least, and Ventura's real numbers are considerably below the two guys I have. I'd want a lefty that is at least close to (if not better through a package deal) than the guys I have now. If you want a minor upgrade at 3B and/or a righty for your platoon, I could trade Matt Williams and Frank Robinson or Jeff Heath for O'neill but i know youve wanted to hold onto O'neill before.

I have 1998 Vinny Castilla at 3B. I think I'll be ok. :hophead:

The amount of errors are unreal. Is this the norm in the sims?
Not usually. There are many, many more poor fielders in this thing than usual. Also, I think the sim engine now punishes poor glovemen more than it used to. I remember getting by with the odd D-glove guy in the past without too much harm being done. But now? Nuh-uh.

Looks like my team has decided to mail it in. 6 game losing streak and in danger of falling to third in the division. All three of my starters have an ERA near 5. Maybe the return of Hank Aaron to the lineup can provide a spark, but to believe that is laughable at best.

The division was ripe for the raping and our team simply doesn't want it anymore. My lack of concern for pitching in the draft and the inevitable scramble and pawning off of Foxx and Henderson to get pitching is what killed me. I'm convinced that Steve Carlton/Wilbur Wood would have been at least as good as Mathewsuck. I thought the solid rolls for Wood and Bill Donovan would have saved me, but they both ended up sucking, with Donovan on another team. I thought Lee Smith would have been my closer seeing as he's one of the best closers of all time and his RL numbers aren't shabby, but he sucks. In fact, with the exception of non-elite season **** Radatz of all people and maybe Sid Fernandez, my bullpen is so ####ty, a real life team would have already fired it's GM, the pitching coach would have committed suicide after committing hara-kari on his manager, and the owner would have put the team up for sale because no one wants to see their home team blow 4 run leads in the late innings.

And RPGLibrary can still suck it.

I wouldnt have counted on Carlton. Guy was a gas can and has been inactive or mop up almost all year. I have NO starters under 5.50 ERA. I thoguht offense would be some question mark which is why I traded away Randy Johnson, and I have been somehow keeping my head above water (though that can change at any moment), but as Ive stated a thousand times, my pitching ineptness (and not just at home where runs are expected) has utterly confounded me.

I'd have a 6.5 game lead on the team who is currently in first in the NL East. Has there ever been a worse division than the NL East? Has their ever been a better division than the NL Central?

If anyone has the balls for a major deadline deal, I can deal Hack Wilson (seems to be on track going .308 .388 .582 for me since the trade) for a stud starting pitcher.

As long as you don't have a park that kills HRs/Power, Hack should do very well, and his real life numbers and log numbers are awesome.

ETA - I believe all trades must be accepted prior to the AM game that is this coming overnight.

Hack Wilson for Hank Aaron, straight up.

thought we might have a decent race in the PL central between the oso dihigos and HoosFirst's team. both at only 500 going into this week's crucial 3-game series between the 2 teams, but tied atop their division. HoosFirst proceeds to sweep us out of the park, in rather convincing and demoralizing fashion (think Brewers/Cubs), winning games 16-1 and 12-6, with a 2-1 squeaker thrown in.

from tied to 3 games back in a 24 hour period. just like that.

Stretch run is here and there seem to be some good races though a couple division leaders are way out in front. IN THIS FORMAT I suppose that was to be expected.

I don't know if I can hold off a very slim wild card league but all in all this may be my best managing job, personally, of all the sims. A couple key trades were key but even so, if you told me that my two luckiest rolls... Spud 6 era Chandler and Larry 1 whip my ### gura would suck I would tell you that my team would be well under .500. I seem to do well against lesser teams but really struggle against good ones... Thank god for the very late Lenny dykstra roll as his first half all star production helped get me another big bopper in the lineup as outhitting is my teams only chance.

Should be some exciting final weeks for wc while a few division leaders enjoy the show from atop.

and just like that you are 1 game behind again. Its going to come down to the last day or two.

Good news: I've put Big Unit in as my closer since his innings are dwindling.

Bad news: I'm 6 games behind and my team has completely tanked. Meanwhile, I think pik has forgotten how to lose.

Sound like me, although my offense probably is just "pretty solid" instead of "awesome".Hank Aaron> die.

BTW, in a stunning development, my team blew a lead in the 9th and lost.

Sid "I now have an ERA above 6!" Fernandez> die.

we have a 3 game set on Labor Day, the penultimate series of the regular season. we should try to play it live over the weekend. btw, i am 1-9 against you.

I will have to let u know. Im going to UVA/USC Sat, then local draft on Sun, then work Mon.

WOOT.

Clinched the wild card with my 92nd win of the season and I must say this is probably my most proud season considering how my draft started so terribly and my strength... Pitching... Was anything but. Had to do a lot of maneuvering with the staff before it settled in a little during the final third of the season. Trading average, on base and steals for power in the hack Wilson deal was perfect for my park as well.

I don't see much chance to overcome the true kings of this season but good luck to all in the playoffs.

Fitzy... Great great run. Shame one of us couldn't make it. Damn East.

84-78, not bad. If I was in another division, any other division, I would have won 92 or more.

No more volunteering for live play league again, that didn't work out well. Did someone trade Jimmy Fox? How did that work out?

:goodposting: That would be me and I also dealt Rickey Henderson in the deal. Hank Aaron turned it on when the season became meaningless, Mehthewson was meh, although he gobbled up a ####load of innings, and Unit was my best pitcher, which isn't saying much. Despite that, I don't think Foxx and Rickey would have saved my season, my pitching was beyond awful. And Trosky did a good job in replacing Foxx as he was an All-star himself.

In conclusion: NO MORE DICE ROLLS FOR PLAYER SEASONS EVER AGAIN

(Yes, I'm MrP. I don't want to post my whole name because I don't want Joe to catch it in a search.)

Kinda been on cruise with this since the All-Star Break since there was really no danger of my team missing the playoffs. :lmao:

Now comes the important part. I like playoffs to be done live. Hopefully Pik/AI will be around for the fun opening round.

Thanks to Koya for winning the wild card, btw, and giving me the good draw.

BE AFRAID

Where the hell is everyone?
In what may have been my best season ever during our run here on WIS, I not only had the matchup against an 82-80 dirtyhalos team, but I romped him going up 2-0 in the series. This team was definately stronger than my team last year (compared with other teams in the league that is) with Brett, and may have been stronger or as strong as the team in the all time (maybe all seasons?) rendition with Pete Alexander and Walter Johnson's best years leading the way.

Well, 2-0 quickly became 2-2, and then the end of my season with a quickness as Halos went on to win the unlikely crown.

My best regular season (w/ 104 wins) ended in a first round playoff loss. It was in Sim# 3 or 4, whichever one had the 50s & 60s players.I've always thought the five game opening series are weak in real-life and pretend baseball. It's especially sudden with WIS' three games/day scheduling. Three months of drafting and simming can come to an end in 24 hours.
