btw, Proctor traded for Betemit

Well, with Proctor gone there is quite a hole to fill. Proctor has pitched in 52 games this year already...someone needs to pick up those inningsRangers asked for Horne, Yanks turned them down. Supposedly out of the running now.Price for Gagne just went up...I imagine this takes the Red Sox out of the running for Gagne. The only question is, what are the Yankees going to give up?
I heard Hansen for Gagne was the offerre: Dye, sounds like Boston offered him 5 starts a week which he is o.k. with (originally he was against being traded to Boston)Price for Gagne just went up...I imagine this takes the Red Sox out of the running for Gagne. The only question is, what are the Yankees going to give up?

just what you want to do with your young prospect, beat the hell out him...Joba the HutWell, with Proctor gone there is quite a hole to fill. Wow, I can't believe Hansen's stock has fallen that far. That and the Sox are ready to make Drew a role player already.Agree with wilked, WMP and Hansen for Dye is a nice deal for the Red Sox. If the White Sox will play WMP they might have done well too. That guy needs consistent ab's.
Ya, I hear you about Hansen. The Sox toyed with his release and he really hasn't been the same since. He still has great potential, but it has been a while since he has been lights out. As for Drew, I wouldn't say they are making him a role player....they need a 4th OF bat badly, Wily Mo is not the answer and obvioulsy Hinske is not either. Given Dye's availability he is the best OF bat they can get, and given Drew's splits he makes a ton of sense. The only issue is just giving him the PT. If that means sacrificing some Drew ABs, then so be it. Drew is still the longterm solution though. Think of Dye as a hired gun for the championship run...Wow, I can't believe Hansen's stock has fallen that far. Seems like Dye is what is holding this up. He is in a contract year so of course he wants to play and since he can veto a trade to Boston, if they don't promise him sufficient playing time, why would he go. White Sox are not holding all the cards here.Platooning with Drew is not going to get him that many ABs.looks that way. What I am hearing is that Wily Mo + Hansen will get the deal done. IMO the Pale Hose have to trade him...Dye switching Sox?
Playing at the Ravine may keep some of his flyballs in play too. Decent AL pitcher to NL usually = gold.I like that trade for the Dodgers. Hard to find a guy who can give you that many reliable innings out of the pen.
Dye for Hansen/Pena seems like a wash to me. I'd do it if I was CHW just on Hansen's potential alone, see if a change will help him. No benefit to keeping Dye.
the offer was Pena and MDC unless it changed in the last few hoursre: Gagnehey, what else is a Rental but a hired gun? There is no doubt that Dye makes the Red Sox a better team, and if it costs them WMP and Hansen, so be it.
Oops...ESPN live right now with a special edition of BBTN.The Yankees do not expect to be able to replace Proctor with Eric Gagne, however, with the Rangers preferring offers from the Boston Red Sox or Milwaukee Brewers.
Just heard on WEEI the latest offer for Gagne is Murphy and Gabbard.the offer was Pena and MDC unless it changed in the last few hoursre: Gagne"Executives involved in the process" are telling Olney that the Sox are the frontrunners for Gagne.hey, what else is a Rental but a hired gun? No kidding. That much help w/o giving Ellsbury or Buchholz or even Bowden is pretty nice.So Gagne and Dye for Wily Mo, Gabbard, Hansen, and Murphy? Color me ecstatic
sounds too good to be true, so it probably isn't.So Gagne and Dye for Wily Mo, Gabbard, Hansen, and Murphy? Color me ecstatic

The Yankees basically traded a 30 year old average reliever for a 26 year old versatile player with power and an 850 OPS. Seems like a good deal to me but I agree they have to replace Proctor's innings. They feel they can replace his 6th or 7th innings with a combo of Karstens, Britton, or Chamberlain as they think all are better pitchers than Proctor and I cant say I disagree. Also, if you think the Yankees are going to put that much faith in an unproven rookie, you must think more lowly of them then I do. Cashman isn't that much of an idiot...
Can the Rangers really be that stupid? You laughed at me for Clippard yet this is just as bad if not worse.Just heard on WEEI the latest offer for Gagne is Murphy and Gabbard.the offer was Pena and MDC unless it changed in the last few hoursre: Gagne"Executives involved in the process" are telling Olney that the Sox are the frontrunners for Gagne.hey, what else is a Rental but a hired gun? Yeah, because just like Dye, Gagne can reject the deal.Gagne may not like being behind Papelbon and possibly even Okajima. He also will not meet his incentives this way.sounds too good to be true, so it probably isn't.So Gagne and Dye for Wily Mo, Gabbard, Hansen, and Murphy? Color me ecstatic
The Red Sox were waiting Tuesday morning to hear back from the White Sox on their latest offer for Dye. According to two baseball men who had been in contact with the two clubs, the Red Sox's latest offer was reliever Craig Hansen and outfielder Wily Mo Pena in exchange for Dye and a minor leaguer. The White Sox are believed to prefer Manny Delcarmen to Hansen, but they don't appear to have a better offer from any other club.
Depends on matchups, but I think Gagne would be the set up guy with Okie pitching the 7th. I assume Gagne would also be the closer when Paps gets a day off.I think Gagne will accept it as long as they agree to pay him the "games finished" bonus he has built into his contract - something like 1.5mil if he maxes it out.Yeah, because just like Dye, Gagne can reject the deal.Gagne may not like being behind Papelbon and possibly even Okajima. He also will not meet his incentives this way.sounds too good to be true, so it probably isn't.So Gagne and Dye for Wily Mo, Gabbard, Hansen, and Murphy? Color me ecstatic
Why? Have you seen him this year?Finless said:WEEI reporting that they believe that Dye to Boston is done...unconfirmed as of right now![]()
Wasn't Hansen considered a potential savior for the Red Sox a year ago or something?supposedly Wily Mo, Murphy and Hansen for Dye
You can't have too many shut down arms in the playoffs. Having Okajima, Gagne and Paps in the pen to shorten games to 6 innings is invaluable. It is also huge if God forbid Paps goes down, as he did at the end of last year.Finless said:This whole thing makes no sense to me either. Gagne isn't going to come in and set-up and we don't need him to come in and set-up. Most likely we'll use him in a mop-up role to keep the bull pen ERA down.Yeah, because just like Dye, Gagne can reject the deal.Gagne may not like being behind Papelbon and possibly even Okajima. According to the Yankee board, Texas asked for Clippard and Marquez and were turned down by Cashman. Not sure how true that is but he had to do that deal if true.On Gagne, Rosenthal says that the Rangers would receive right-hander Kason Gabbard and an additional player or players in the deal, sources say.

Dodgers bullpen has been getting hammered since the break. They have plenty of position prospects they can bring up, but the young pitchers have struggled. Do they bring up Chin-Lung Hu to back up SS or LaRoche to back up 3B now?The Yankees basically traded a 30 year old average reliever for a 26 year old versatile player with power and an 850 OPS.
