A little surpised at Rice going 4th with the week 5 bye.
Could be a rookie mistake for me in the first time I drafted for Ultimate Survivor. Figured I would recover from week 5 later, but it looks like that'll be the make/break week for me.

With Rodgers you won't need much so you got nice late value with McNabb. Good job on the QB pairing. Neither one has a bye week issue. RB: Green, Grant, Bush, and Hightower. i like it, 2 of them off week 5 but you should be OK and I think this is solid. WR: VJax, Collie, Boldin, gets a little thin after that. TE: Dallas Clark should lead the way for youAgain this is a pretty solid team. I like the way it is put together. You might have a tough go in week 5 if you make it that far.

QB: Brees, Flacco, Fitz...that is terrific and you really don't need much behind Brees but you found a nice way to round the group out. Like it. RB: Gore, DWill, Moreno...I am not a fan of Knowshon but you run full strength the whole way with this group. Good job of putting it together. Running game not looking great in SF and Car at the moment. WR: Calvin, Brandon Marshall, Lance Moore, and you found a bunch of Rams WRs late to splash in more points. I like this a lot, looks real strong. TE: Pettigrew, Hernandez, and Gresham. This is a strong TE trio and I think you will have fun with this most weeks. Very solid throughout. Like the overall team, you should be there at the end.

MOP, would welcome your assessment: League 1 Teams

Here's my walkthrough:

[*]1.04: Ray Rice. I debated between him and McCoy here. I opted for Rice as I had Rice ranked #2 overall by my projections. I felt that if I grabbed him here, I would draft elsewhere to make up for the weakness at Week 5.

[*]2.09: Reggie Wayne. I wanted a strong value play here. I debated on Tom Brady, but thought he would come back the following round. In addition, I felt Vincent Jackson would be the play here, but he went earlier than expected. With that in mind, Wayne was the last in my current tier of WRs and I had him ranked higher than where the RBs were at.

[*]3.04: Jahvid Best. This was where I was planning on Tom Brady, unfortunately he went 2 picks earlier. Steven Jackson was still on the board, but also with a week 5 bye, so that ruled him out. Because I took Ray Rice, I needed another RB that would do well in PPR and also help make up for the loss of Rice in Week 5. With that in mind, I saw Jahvid Best as the best fit for this spot with PPR. I keep telling myself. I believe in Detroit.

[*]4.09: Jason Witten. Okay, had Peyton Manning all keyed up to grab here, and he goes 2 picks earlier. Damn. So now the last of the big QBs are Romo, so I figured I was definitely going to take Romo. I figured he would come back the next round and I saw Witten out there, ranked as my top TE and there were several TEs that already went off the board. The problem, week 5 bye. Ugh. Still, I thought him the best value on the board, and figured I would go with the risk.

[*]5.04: Tony Romo. He came back. Finally a player fell where I thought they would. I wanted to have one of the Top 7 QBs this year. Romo was on target for a phenomenal year last year before his injury and hopefully he will continue. With the loss of Barber, I see a lot of swing passes going towards Felix Jones, so I expect Romo to be in contention for Top 5. Week 5 bye again. After this pick, I have to switch game plans to target best value with bye weeks other than 5. This is where the draft dominator complementary features are so powerful. If you aren't using them, you really need to look at them. Great tool!

[*]6.09: Santana Moss. Definitely has to be a WR as I grabbed TE early. Targeting 3 players: Collie, Manningham, and Julio Jones. All 3 of them go in the 4 picks before me. Damn. Looking at the best WRs, I find myself looking at Moss, Thomas, Boldin, and Rice. Rice I don't have as much confidence in because of the QB situation. Boldin seems to be hit or miss, so it comes down to Thomas and Moss. When I reviewed the last few years, Moss has constantly put up 90+ receptions. Great for PPR. As usual, week 5 bye. How ironic. Well, with Wayne already there, figured I will run with it as I felt he was the best value.

[*]7.04: Josh Freeman. I don't have my full WR squad yet, but the Week 5 thing is really bothering me. I have to have some solid production to make up for it. When I looked at what was on the board, I considered AJ Green and Lance Moore, but based on their ADP, I figured they would come back. RB would be a backup and Lynch, Addai, Wells, and Hightower were still available, so I figured one of them may come back as well. When looking at QB, the backup QBs haven't started going yet, but I figured at 6 pts per passing TD, it was going to start soon. I saw Freeman on the board and felt his production could greatly complement Romo and hopefully make up for the shortfall during Week 5.

[*]8.09: Jacoby Ford. Glad I took a QB at 7.04 as the run started. Now at this point, I HAVE to get a solid WR to fill out my starting lineup. When I looked at everything there, I've been a fan of Jacoby Ford, he had a bye week that wasn't a 5 and he was the highest ranking WR out on my board. What also made this decision easy was that all the WR and RBs I were considering at 7.04 also went off the board, so that made the decision easy.

[*]9.04: Mike Tolbert. I was targeting Brandon Jacobs here as he complemented my RBs nicely. Unfortunately, Pasquino snagged him right in front of me to backup Bradshaw. Not really any WRs worth taking here, so I decided to back up my RBs. I like Tolbert's situation. I think he's sharing carries with Mathews and hopefully will get a nice set of touches here. I also considered Reggie Bush and Daniel Thomas, but they both had bye weeks in 5, and I couldn't afford that. So Tolbert was the pick.

[*]10.09: Malcolm Floyd. Need to add depth at WR, looking at the board, some of the guys I liked all had bye weeks of 5 (Greg Little, Amendola, Bess), so knowing I really couldn't afford week 5 guys anymore I went with Floyd.

[*]11.04: James Starks. Defenses started coming off the board, but I felt it was better to add depth yet. Starks has great upside and has looked decent in preseason. I felt he could be a lead back in a few weeks if Grant isn't doing well. At the 11th round, his upside is tremendous.

[*]12.09: Darren Sproles. Continuing to add depth to my RB squad. I was targeting 5 RBs in this league and Sproles rounded out my last RB. Figured NO will use him similar to Bush, which means he will have some value in PPR. Felt he has good value to add on a power offense, so I went with him here.

[*]13.04: New Orleans Defense. There's been about 7-8 defenses off the board by now. I felt it was time to snag a defense before I was left with the true bottom of the barrel.

[*]14.09: Brent Celek. Needed a backup to Jason Witten that would have a shot and Celek was still available. Celek is good for a potential TD on any week, so in the 14th round, solid depth pick here.

[*]15.04: Matt Hasselbeck. Most folks have their second QB, which means the QB pool is fairly scarce. I wanted to have 3 QBs in this league format due to potential injuries. When I looked Hasselbeck was the only QB left that I felt would remain the starter for the entire year. Definitely didn't think he would come back, so I pulled the trigger here.

[*]16.09: Kevin Boss. Still looking at WR/TE. I saw Donald Driver and I knew the guys picking after me already had a number of WRs, so I gambled thinking he would come back and went with Kevin Boss. I feel that Kevin Boss has tremendous upside in that the TE position has led in receptions for OAK the last couple of years. In addition, Campbell trusted his TEs in WAS, as well as with Miller last year, and I felt there was no reason Boss could not excel in OAK.

[*]17.04: Mason Crosby. Apparently I was wrong about Donald Driver coming back, thanks Pasquino for sharking me again there. A couple of kickers had already been chosen and I figured I would go with one of the top PK here on a high power offense that may add some great value for my week 5 fiasco.

[*]18.09: Eddie Royal. Need some more WR help. Maybe Royal will have a good year at some point. If the league is planning around Lloyd, maybe he could surprise and I felt was worth the draft round here.

[*]19.04: Oakland Defense. Starting to build some depth defensively. OAK was ranked as best available defense for week 5. See a trend here? Everything is about offsetting week 5 as much as possible.

[*]20.09: Terrell Owens. What? TO? Are you for real? Well, he's been talking about coming back faster than ever. Seems pretty risky, but then again Welker came back with only 9 months and nobody keeps in shape as much as TO. For a 20th round pick, I felt that if he does come back midseason, he can really add firepower to my team if I make it past week 5. All in baby!

[*]21.04: Billy Cundiff. Just adding PK and TDs at this point. Cundiff should have a decent year with Baltimore.

[*]22.09: Cleveland Defense. Wanted 3 defenses, less than 5 left at this point. Felt they were best available.

[*]23.04: Riley Cooper. I'm an Eagles fan. Going to have one of those guys on my team. I believe in Cooper!

[*]24.09: Olindo More. Last kicker to round out 3. Figured CAR will struggle to score TDs, so maybe Mare will be kicking left and right.

So my plan going in was to have 3 QB, 5 RB, 7 WR, 3 TE, 3 PK, and 3 TD. Pretty much what I ended up with. I debated about going 2 depth at some places, but in survivor format I prefer having 3 depth as much as possible. I also considered 6 RB and 6 WR, but with the start 3 WR, I wanted an extra WR that could make a difference. So hope you enjoyed the read, but that was my rationale.

Overall, pretty happy with my squad. Unfortunately with the way things fell, I think Week 5 is my nemesis. I liked the picks there, and if I changed any pick, ironically enough it would be pick #1 and I would have opted for McCoy. So for those that don't think the round 1 pick matters that much, as everyone is rated really high, I beg to differ. It could be the difference in moving on or losing in this format.

Edited to Add: Now that I know you redraft past week 5. I DEFINITELY would have taken McCoy earlier. Always good to know how the draft works. Bring it on! :football:

Well, after a couple of days to let this roster sink in... I still think I did plenty enough to survive into the next round. I noticed a couple spots where I maybe could have chosen differently but all in all I will outline my targets and how well they matched up.

Roethlisberger, Ben PIT QB (P) - 11 5.10

Campbell, Jason OAK QB - 8 13.10

Smith, Alex SFO QB - 7 15.10

AT QB... I was really hoping for Rivers to fall slightly to me in round 3. I missed by 5 picks but still had my 2 other target QB's left (obviously I would have grabbed rodgers @ 1.10 if it was possible, or vick @ 2.03 or brady @ 3.10) I let Manning got through @ 3.10 and 4.03, figuring I'd let his injury concerns be someone else problem. With Romo going in the 5th round I figured I better jump on Big Ben now @ 5.10. I love his matchups in weeks 2-5 and I figured I could get some value QB's that also have favorable matchups in weeks 1-5. I would have liked Eli as his #1 compliment but knew the price was too high. So I went with Campbell and Smith who I ultimately (looking back) also took too early but at the right parts of the draft to do it.

Addai, Joseph IND RB - 11 8.03

Barber, Marion CHI RB - 8 16.03

Jackson, Fred BUF RB - 7 6.03

McFadden, Darren OAK RB (Q) - 8 1.10

McGahee, Willis DEN RB - 6 12.03

AT RB... I had my pick between 2 of my targets in McFadden and Gore and chose McFadden at 1.10. At 2.03 I wanted to go WR to get a top tier guy and chose to pass on Gore (I am still wondering whether I should have taken him or not and looked for value WR's later) Anyways, I believe I made the right move and managed to pick up 3 more backs I was targeting in Addai, Fred Jackson, and Barber. I also picked up McGahee with full intentions on getting Ridley in the next round but alas he didn't make the turn back and I figured I could snatch Barber late to round out my RB corp. I also missed on a couple backs earlier that I wish I could have gotten in Bradshaw who went 2.10 and Ryan Grant but at pick 5.10 I figured Ben was a better pick for my team.

Cotchery, Jerricho PIT WR (Q) - 11 23.10

Edwards, Braylon SFO WR - 7 11.10

Fitzgerald, Larry ARI WR - 6 2.03

Gaffney, Jabar WAS WR - 5 20.03

Garcon, Pierre IND WR - 11 7.10

Holmes, Santonio NYJ WR - 8 4.03

Smith, Brad BUF WR - 7 24.03

Washington, Nate TEN WR - 6 18.03

AT WR... I feel good about my WR corps.. .I got a top tier guy in Fitz... really wanted Nicks at 2.03 but he went at the turn. I question whether I should have gone WR at 3.10 where I went TE but got Holmes at 4.03 and was hoping to grab Manningham at 7.10, he would have had to slide a bit, but I knew he wouldn't. At 7.10 I was hoping for Eli Manning, Felix Jones, Santana Moss, or Boldin to slide after Manningham went, but I ended up with Garcon who I had as a targeted guy but with a downside due to Manning's health. in round 11 I was happy to get Braylon who very well could be SF's #1 WR due to Crabtree's injury. With those 4 as my top guys I let wr go to shore other areas on my team till the later rounds where I believe I got some guys that could provide me with 1 or 2 games of stats( especially Washington if Britt gets suspended). I also took a last round flier on Brad Smith who sounds like he will be a wild card in the Buff offense... maybe he'll throw in a TD pass or something. :)

Gates, Antonio SDC TE (P) - 6 3.10

Gonzalez, Tony ATL TE - 8 9.10

At TE... I think the picks speak for themselves... I think Tony was a steal in round 9.. I had every intention of taking 3 TE, but with these 2 I figured a flier WR would be better than a flier TE.

Barth, Connor TBB PK - 8 19.10

Henery, Alex PHI PK ® - 7 17.10

Kaeding, Nate SDC PK - 6 14.03

AT K... Very Happy with this group, I got 3 kickers off of 3 teams that should score alot... went in wanting to make sure I got at least 1 good kicker and 3 total, but this exceeded my expectations.

Bengals, Cincinnati CIN Def - 7 21.10

Patriots, New England NEP Def - 7 10.03

Seahawks, Seattle SEA Def - 6 22.03

AT D.. I knew I wanted 3 total and to have them all have good week 1-5 matchups.. mission accomplished. I wished I could have gotten ARI D as I believe it will be fairly decent at least for their week 1-5 schedule.

Going in to the draft I knew i wanted to draft top tier talent at every position possible while staying with my target groupings and without reaching tremendously. I wanted to make sure my team stayed balanced and didn;t have to rely on any one position to make or break my weeks. I think I may have reached on a couple players like Gates, Rothlisberger, NE D, and Kaeding but also believed they wouldn;t be available when my next pick came up. and I had each of them targeted, so well worth the reach. This team, IMO is solid throughout and should easily coast to the next round. I would welcome anyone's critiques or dislikes as I would like to hear them or flaws in my drafting strategy.

Nice break down Saint. I agree with most of what you wrote. Not a fan of Best or Ford right now but overall you got a solid team constructed.

FBGs, How about a little commentary on your draft. I am sure many would like to hear your thoughts on your choices.

QB - Stafford and SanchezBoth have favorable early schedules, and Stafford better be able to last for 5 games.RB - Charles, Bradshaw, Jacobs, RJennings, Redman, RidleyJeff T screwed up my NERBBC by taking Woodhead, but I got the TD guy I think with Ridley. Bradshaw/BJacobs a solid pair with the Giants along with JCharles. Harrison and Redman are fliers to get a little TD love or PPR love here or there and upside w/ injury.WR - Driver, Lloyd*, Mason, Meachem, MThomas*, MikeWilliams TB*Probably the weaker area of the team, but in best ball that works. Meachem offers big play ability, and Mason is a solid PPR guy with Thomas. Need Lloyd and Williams to hit a HR now and thenTE - VDavis, Heap, ShiancoeDidn't get a high upside TE2 so VD must carry me here. He should be able to, but Heap and Shiancoe are not terrible.PK - Bironas, Akers, Prater3 kickers covers variability. I should get a high score from one.D - NYG/Car/TN - Love TN/NYG pair early. Third D might get a score for me.As long as WRs contribute OK, I should be good. :)

I would have liked this a little better if I hadn't fat fingered a couple selections late in the game (Mark Clayton & Massaquoi) but it was late and I didn't want to stop the draft.Getting Calvin in the first and then Gore, DWill, and Brandon Marshall later than they should have gone (IMO) helped me out quite a bit.
