We didn't pay any money to participate in this league, so we really don't have the right to complain about how it's run. With that said, I do think this system is unnecessarily rigid. For the first round of drafts, we had our choice of 12 different leagues with a wide variety of dates and times. Almost everyone was happy. Now we're being forced into a narrow range of dates that all fall on the weekend, which is typically when most people make their real life plans. At least three or four of us have expressed a desire for more draft date options and we're being shot down without much consideration because the system we're using to assign teams is slow. I think this could have been avoided if a Thursday draft date was included and we had been allowed to pick our leagues in the same way that we did in round one. All this stuff about seeding and picking your draft slot looks like a well-intentioned attempt at maintaining competitive balance, but it's actually skewing things by limiting the draft date options and forcing some of the drafters to submit pre-draft lists or have a friend draft for them. I realize that time is scarce and it's a major logistical headache trying to organize so many people so fast, but I do think the staff might want to reconsider the structure of this competition if they decide to attempt it again next year. I don't mean to sound like a whiny tool, but I did want to get that off my chest. I know I'm not the only one who feels this way. I'll shut up now. I'm happy just to have the opportunity to compete. The fact that I'll be winning my league with a team picked entirely by pre-draft lists will make my triumph all the more legendary.
