***OFFICIAL*** Washington Commanders Thread (1 Viewer)

Sometimes it's hard for me to believe that we are only a year or so removed from Dan Snyder and Ron Rivera.
Speaking of which, they just cut another Ron Rivera draft pick (Phil Mathis).

Ben Standig
@BenStandig

Commanders' playoff-clinching victory snaps:
* Offense 83, Defense 64
* DT - Payne (48), Newton (30), Allen (27) Day (18)
*With no Lattimore, replacement Mike Davis played 77% of snaps. BSJ took the other 23%
*Six receivers played at least 16 snaps while TE3 Sinnott played 8

So Jonathan Allen actually played. And Mike Davis was terrible playing in Lattimore's spot

Important to win this next one. The path the the NFC championship game is a lot easier going through LAR than PHI. Stafford scares me a lot. He could carve up our D. But not as much as AJ Brown and D Smith. Assuming I am reading the likely seeding correctly.

Jayden Daniels is currently 4th in QBR, 7th in QB rating, and 7th in completion %. He is also 20th in rushing yards. Please stay healthy young man. A 6.5M person metro area is happier with you at the helm of this team.

Yep. I guess if Hurts is still out then maybe Philly would be the preferred opponent, but I don't want any part of them. I think TB and LAR can still swap at 3/4. I worry about any team with decent receivers. We just aren't good at DB.

And 7-2 at home with what sounded like great crowds most weeks. Yeah, there were lots of visiting fans as usual, but multiple TV commentators mentioned the crowd noise this season.

Next step is to start to see people proudly wearing apparel around town. At HS football games, the student section have themes each week. One week might be neon, another week it's a black out, and another a white out. One week is jersey night. At my kids' HS, there have been very few Washington jerseys worn by the student section. Winning and a guy like Daniels can change all that. The team truly did lose a whole generation, but they can try to get the next one.

“Marcus Mariota said something very interesting today that we'll have audio for tomorrow but he mentioned that teams are throwing a bunch of unscouted looks and other stuff at Jayden Daniels and he's figuring a lot of it out.
Some of the slower starts can be attributed to this.”

It's Dallas week and it finally matters again. They're good enough to beat us again so tomorrow is a big game. Don't want to go into the playoffs after a loss and I think a win gives us a better chance to face the Rams.

Inactive list for today's game
QB Jeff Driskell, WR K.J. Osborn, T Cornelius Lucas, C Tyler Biadasz, LB Jordan Magee, CB Marshon Lattimore, S Quan Martin

So Ekeler is active, O-line will be a mess as will the secondary.

Wow, who is this up-and-coming young stud, Marcus Mariota? (young compared to me at least). His sevices could be in demand this offseason. It's getting to the point where I expect the Commanders to win. After so many years in football wasteland, it's easy to love this team. Now keep it going deep into the playoffs, Commanders!

“Washington scored 485 total points this season and finish tied with the 1991 team for the second-most points scored in a single season in franchise history.”

I really hope kingsbury stays one more year. I don’t think we are ready to truly compete for a superbowl this season(secondary, line, lack of wr talent outside terry, etc). But with the cap space we have we should be able to sure up the secondary, get line depth and get jd5 another wr. Then i think we can compete for real.

I've been thinking a realistic wish list for next season is: 1-2 OL, 1 RB, 1 WR/TE, 1 DB, 1 Edge.

I think they need top notch guys at 1 of the OL spots, the WR/TE, and a pass rusher. I'm good with spending big money there in FA. I think they can get away with just solid additions at another OL spot, RB, and DB. RB should be easy enough to find in the draft. Get someone in the 2nd round or lower on a cheap contract.

We are a much better team than when we played the Bucs earlier this season, but TB is probably a little better than they were.
We have a chance in the highest scoring game of the weekend: 38-35.

Washington definitely has a few holes personnel-wise but they seem to really believe in themselves and the ball just tends to bounce their way more often than not, unlike past seasons under different management, and with lesser QBs. They will probably lose to Detroit ... but maybe not - wouldn't that be something? Regardless they are really fun to watch. Very pleased with this team, it was almost worth the wait.

They had more roster turnover than any other team between last season and this season. I credit Adam Peters for that. Once he finalized all the "this is the best I can do to make this horrible roster better" moves he could make in one year, Quinn seemed to take from there with "OK, this is who we got, let's see how much we can do," and I credit Quinn with that.

And then there's the players, who keep refusing to play like they're not good.

Although I had them banging real well earlier this evening, I don't currently have access to those soup pan lids in this holding cell.

But he was smart about it by not blowing all of their cap space in one year. Now they have a much better idea of how to attack the offseason and they have the resources to do it.

I expect another close competitive game. The Lions biggest weakness is defense, specifically passing defense so that gives us a chance. I hope our defense can ball out they have the much harder task vs the Lions.

I’m not expecting a win. But our ability to produce long drives can help reduce the amount of times Detroit scores. We would really need to be firing on all cylinders to win this one. But hell with Jayden anything can happen i guess!

What’s crazy is how cap room we have.

The Washington Commanders are in a strong position regarding both salary cap space and draft capital for the 2025 offseason:
## Salary Cap Space
The Commanders are projected to have approximately $89-96 million in salary cap space for 2025, depending on the source. This puts them among the top teams in the league in terms of available cap room:
- Over The Cap projects $96,028,698 in cap space (3rd most in NFL)[1]
- Spotrac estimates $89,640,464 in cap space[11]
Only the New England Patriots and Las Vegas Raiders are consistently projected to have more cap space than Washington across different sources.
## Draft Picks
The Commanders are also well-positioned in terms of draft capital for 2025. They currently hold 7 total draft picks:
- 1st round pick
- 2nd round pick
- 3rd round pick (via Dolphins)
- 5th round pick (via Saints)
- 6th round pick
- 7th round pick (via Falcons)
- 7th round pick (via Eagles)[13]
While not at the very top, this gives Washington a solid collection of draft picks compared to many other teams. They have extra selections in the 3rd and 7th rounds from trades.
## Overall Outlook
With their combination of significant cap space and a full complement of draft picks including some extras, the Commanders are positioned as one of the teams with the most resources to improve their roster in the 2025 offseason. This flexibility should allow them to be aggressive in both free agency and the draft if they choose to do so.

I'm rooting for you guys. This team reminds me a lot of the Texans last year. Coming out of nowhere, making the playoffs and winning their WC game, getting a franchise QB, new coach, etc. It is funny to me that CJ is a year younger than Jayden though. Just hope he doesn't see the sophomore slump that CJ did.
