John Keim

The Redskins selected Alabama defensive lineman Jonathan Allen with the 17th pick. It was their dream scenario, selecting a player who can help in the run and pass game. It helped that other teams were scared off by issues with his shoulders. Allen played high school ball at nearby Stone Bridge.

"I want to prove that the Redskins were right to draft me, rather than proving any teams wrong [for passing]."

So much better than Watson's "I'll take offensive if I'm not the first QB chosen" or Garrett's "I'll punish the Browns if they don't select me."

Redskins shopping Matt Jones around for trade in advance of second round. 

I wouldn't mind seeing them try to use Matt Jones to move up in the second round to get one of the better RBs still on the board like Cook or Mixon.  I'm sure Cook is gonna go early in second and maybe Mixon, as I think all the hand wrining around his "character" is gonna evaporate pretty quickly when teams consider his talent and the available players they have to draft instead of him...

I'm intrigued by Mixon because he's first round talent that can be had in the second or third round.  Something tells me he doesn't make it out of the second, though...

Obviously I don't like the fact that he punched that girl and think it really does say pretty damning things about his character.  On the other hand, I'm not so naive to assume that there aren't tons of character issues for many, many players in the NFL that aren't so high profile.  The NFL/media tends to like to make a big example out of a few guys as opposed to acknowledging more broad concerns...

I don't think any team will want Matt Jones enough to trade for him. The Redskins drafted him higher than other teams had him rated, he fumbles and he gets hurt. I doubt he'd make the team this year.

And I really don't want Mixon. Behavior like that (when he punched the woman) isn't a sudden aberration; it's an ingrained part of who someone is and how they handle things. He'll miss more time in the pros due to similar behavior, and who needs a talented suspended player who looks bad to fans?

You are probably right on both accounts. We will probably trade Matt Jones for the proverbial "ham sandwich."

:confused:   I don't remember it like that at all. He was always going to be a guard.

You know what, Sebowski DID disappear for a while when we were at a Redskins game.  I think he ran upstairs to make a trade.

If there is a LB that would go right in to the starting lineup in round 2 that would be my choice. If not, hopefully Cook or Kamara are there at RB.

Gruden said they drafted him as a tackle, right after the draft.

Gruden eliminated any suspense about where Scherff will fit into the equation in Washington. The coach said when they kick off the rookie minicamp two weeks from now, Scherff will do so at right tackle.

Once the full-squad practices begin a few weeks later, Gruden expects Scherff to take the first-team snaps at right tackle in those sessions as well.

“That’s the exciting thing about Brandon is he’s very versatile. Heck, he could even play center if he wanted to,” the coach gushed. “But I think Day 1, we start him out at right tackle. Obviously, we have a Pro Bowl left tackle, and we’ll start [Scherff] out at right tackle, see how he does, and I’m sure he’ll pick it up quickly.
