Saw an interesting thought, what if we just backload all the contracts? I know this got the Skins in trouble before, but with reports that the cap could be over $150M in the next few years seems to make it seem like that may not be a terrible idea. Now, if the cap doesn't increase like that, we'd be SOL.
I am 100% against backloaded contracts. The Redskins are in transition and they should be thinking they need 2 or 3 years to re-tool the roster. Backloading the contracts gets you the maximum players now and less players in the future. I think next year or the year after, you may think you are one or two players away from contending and then it's worth it to go all out and get that player. They are not there now.
Actually, I am not sure it is ever a good idea to use massively backloaded contracts. If the player does not work out, you end up with a massive cap hit and a year with no free agents at all. That is not a good way to go.
