The only thing that's come out of this year for me is the understanding that the only reason RG3 is here is because of Dan Snyder.

That fact alone gives me zero hope for the next 30+ years as a fan of this team.

I just hope he has an ebeneezer Scrooge moment one Christmas and learns to keep his hands out of all football related activities.
Please. Any owner/GM would be keeping RG3 around at least until the end of this year. OROY and led the team to the playoffs. Last year could easily be considered a throw away due to knee injury and rushing back, no preseason, etc. So you're saying after that, RG3 should have been cut or traded and the only reason he wasn't was Snyder? That's not realistic at all. There was a lot invested in RG3 and initially it looked like it was gonna pay off. You don't throw that away after one bad season.

Gruden looks like he has some juice in the matter anyway. If Snyder was truly the evil overseeing dictator, would Colt McCoy have gotten the start last week?

RGIII's comments weren't bad at all, they were unfairly lifted out of context by NBC in the Sunday night pregame and the story took off from there. It's documented pretty well here ... including RGIII explicitly acknowledging his role in their poor performance. The idea of a coach reacting like that to a PC and making huge personnel decisions that affect the future of the franchise so significantly in part based on that blows my mind.
That's how I felt about it too. It wasn't the typical post game presser where a guy will put all of the blame on himself and not mention anyone else, but I didn't really take it as disparaging - it seemed taken out of context as part of a bigger rah-rah type speech that Robert likes to give. I wasn't surprised the media ran with the negative angle, but was surprised that Gruden mentioned it and then Desean did the instagram post presumably referencing it as well.

At this point, I just want to see RG3 thrive, even if its somewhere else. He's a good kid, and has been villainized to an ABSURD degree. He deserves better and was so much fun to watch a few years ago.

I agree. If/when he's not on the Skins anymore, I'll still root for him. Was he arrogant? Sure. He had reasons to be. Don't tell me all these successful QBs aren't arrogant to an extent. Did he try to capitalize on his brand? Of course. Can't knock a guy trying to maximize his earning potential. He experienced success so quickly and the ones who built him up (media) are the same ones kicking him when he's down now. Dude is not even 25 years old and people are already closing the book on him. The guy that was supposed to help him and act as a barrier between him and the media instead decided to throw him under the bus and gave up on him after a handful of games.

If he gets a chance to go to some place like the Eagles, he'll do it just to play the Skins and Chip Kelley will know how to use him. If he can get production out of Sanchez, you know he can get it out of RG3. It will suck if that happens.

But seriously, if Griffin ends up not being the guy, who in their right mind would let Allen have anything to do with picking the next QB? In 5 years he's used, 3 first rounders, 2 2nd rounders and a 4th round pick on QBs. The thought of giving him another swing in the first round is sickening.

I don't know....other credible scouts had RGIII as an almost can't miss prospect coming out of Baylor. Many people were drinking that KoolAid.

Aldrick Robinson cut to make room for Gabe Miller.

Doesn't even make sense why we wasted a roster spot on such a one dimensional WR with iffy hands when he barely saw the field with this WR corps...especially with a promising young fella in Grant, a vet in Moss who obviously would be active if there was an injury, and since we decided to keep Hankerson.

The fact that we don't even get rid of Robinson until, coincidentally, the week Desean gets hurt (the one guy whose role he might be able to attempt to simulate) is a joke.

This FO really just had no idea what it's doing. Can't even roster the right scrubs at the right positions.

Jason Reid was on the Junkies today talking about the article he wrote, it's segment 7 if you want to listen (~11 minutes) - http://washington.cbslocal.com/audio/the-sports-junkies/

Main things Reid said that jumped out at me:

- Any notion that Gruden didn't want to work with RG3 from the beginning is false, was not an issue to start

- Gruden was especially annoyed at RG3's comments about everyone needing to play better after the Tampa game

- Gruden thinks RG3 has not acknowledged his part in the issues here at all (one of the main points of the article)

- Snyder is not ready to move on from RG3 yet, wants to know "what can be done for him mentally to get them to 10-6"

- Said if RG3 doesn't work out Snyder will likely "have wrath" and Bruce Allen was heavily involved in the trade for RG, seemed to insinuate maybe it could lead to Snyder getting rid of Allen because of it? This was speculative, was not saying he'd heard anything

- Reid said a big issue with Cousins is how he "gets too down" after turnovers, said it lingers even after the games. (if true those weeks he started must have been hell for him)
Thanks for the summary; that's good information.

The part I bolded is troubling. We have a head coach who blabs anything and everything on his mind to the press, who is at the same time basing major playing-time decisions on what-player-says-what in the press. Really, that's beyond immature. Gruden should be coaching a sorority.

I came post that Robinson had been cut and you beat me to it. I don't know why Robinson, Moss, and lately Hankerson have been on the roster taking up space and contributing next-to-nothing when other positions clearly need help. I guess coaches who love a passing game just need a certain number of WR's to sleep at night or something.

I'm suprised they didn't sign a DB or 2 from the practice squad, but we probably don't have any. We literally may run out of DB's this game. Minnifield and Porter are hurt.

Have any of you noticed how many Redskin injuries now are lingering, and comebacks from injuries are slower now? Players are checking out, bit by bit.

Wide receiver DeSean Jackson missed another practice as he continues to nurse the lower leg contusion that forced him out of last week’s game, and the Redskins have officially listed him as questionable for Sunday’s meeting with the St. Louis Rams.Jackson, who leads the Redskins in receiving yards and touchdown catches, wasn’t able to practice Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. Coach Jay Gruden said a chance remains that Jackson could feel good enough to practice Saturday, but that his availability remains in doubt. If Jackson is unable to play, veteran Santana Moss will likely see an increase in action. Moss took over for Jackson late in last week’s game, recording three catches for 30 yards.

Defensive end Jason Hatcher was limited in Friday’s practice because of a right knee injury and will be listed as questionable, as well.

Also limited in Friday’s practice and questionable for Sunday: cornerback E.J. Biggers (concussion) and nose tackle Chris Baker (chest).

Inside linebacker Keenan Robinson again did not practice because of a MCL sprain in his left knee. Robinson will be listed as questionable.

Starting strong safety Brandon Meriweather missed a third straight practice with a sprained big toe and is listed as doubtful. Safety Phillip Thomas would start in place of Meriweather.

Ruled out for the game: backup defensive lineman Kedric Golston and cornerback Chase Minnifield.

You just have to laugh at memories like this.

People often forget this now, but for a couple months in the fall of 2008, Zorn was not a punchline. The Redskins started that season 6-2. They won in Dallas and Philadelphia on back-to-back weeks. Zorn was quirky and an odd choice to be head coach, but players seemed to be enjoying him, fans were loving the wins, and media members were taking note.

The Score gave Zorn its midseason Coach of the Year nod, writing that the Redskins were “the most efficient group in the NFL so far.” ESPN’s Matt Mosley named Zorn the midseason NFC East Coach of the Year, writing that “Zorn is the one who’s caught everyone by surprise. When I talked to Joe Gibbs on Monday (you like how I did that?), he couldn’t stop talking about the job Zorn has done.”

Leonard Shapiro included Zorn among the runners-up for midseason coach of the year, listing “Tennessee’s Jeff Fisher, New England’s Bill Belichick and any of the four rookie head coaches — Zorn, Mike Smith of Atlanta, John Harbaugh of Baltimore and Tony Sparano of Miami, all with winning records.” And here’s Boz, after the win over Dallas:

Jim Zorn may not be a made man quite yet in this town. Seasons are long, much less entire coaching careers. But he’s moving up the ladder awfully fast after a 26-24 victory over a Dallas team that’s touted as one of the Cowboys’ best and a Super Bowl contender.

Yeah, no ones rushing back to get hurt again for these clowns. It's every man for themselves.

$3 and $4 tickets

As of Friday, thousands of unsold tickets remained for Washington’s game against the St. Louis Rams.

According to SeatGeek — a site that tracks ticket sales to sporting events and concerts — the Redskins’ tickets are selling on the secondary market for as little as $4 apiece, with the standing-room-only tickets listed for as little as $3. Lower level tickets are on sale for as low as $25, and even the “Dream Seats” behind the Redskins’ bench are listed on the re-sale market for well below their value, at $91 per ticket. Those tickets normally go for several hundred dollars apiece.

The average price of the tickets to the game is just $31, which would represent the cheapest average price for a regular season Redskins home game since 2009, according to SeatGeek.

Since September, Redskins ticket prices have dropped 64 percent. Originally, tickets went for an average of $87 apiece, and the figure dropped to $51 in October, $38 for November home games and then $31 this week.

THe dream seats - the ones on the sideline with free food are only like $185. :lmao: TBH i hope people boycot the game. Im sick of this. Im not buying redskins gear, im not going to games until this staff gets their #### together. Im ok with being bad. But the disfunction within the organization is what really bothers me.

That whole comment has nothing to do with RG3. Just the observation that even after all his comments about staying clear of making any personnel decisions, Snyder still clearly wants to be a big part of turning this franchise back into a winner, including going after the guys he believes will make this football team better.

That makes me sad, as I will have to spend my entire adult life hoping that one day Dan Snyder will wake up and realize he should have more competent people other than him and his lackies running this organization.

So if Gruden is fired (which I still say about 25%), would that ensure that Super Bob is still the QB on the team. I mean what is the purpose of firing Gruden and getting rid of the QB that caused the mess in the first place.

Of course firing Gruden and keeping Super Bob proves what every one is really saying and that the HC is nothing but a figurehead

What's tomorrow's BREAKING news going to be? What will "sources" tell Shefter or Lacanfora or Rappaport?
Funny you should mention that.

Even TMZ is getting into the act:

TMZ jumps aboard the anti-RG3 bandwagonPosted by Michael David Smith on December 6, 2014, 12:33 PM EST
griffin7.jpg
Getty ImagesThe hits keep coming from all quarters for embattled Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III.

Stories citing unnamed sources questioning Griffin’s ability and work ethic have become so commonplace that even TMZ has jumped into the mix, with a story quoting an unnamed player on the team ripping into Griffin.

“No one is happy . . . no one gets the hype around him anymore. . . . I don’t see him being in the NFL for that long. . . . I think he goes into politics. He’s good at that kinda thing,” the player tells TMZ.

It’s surprising to see TMZ report on this kind of story because when TMZ covers the NFL, it’s usually breaking stories about players’ lives away from the game, be it in the Ray Rice and Adrian Peterson legal cases or stories about players’ personal lives. It’s unusual to see TMZ report on a player’s popularity within his own locker room.

As Dan Steinberg of the Washington Post notes, however, one particular Washington player seems to have a relationship with TMZ: DeSean Jackson, who talks to TMZ about everything from his side business breeding dogs to how much money he spends on jewelry.

The TMZ headline also refers to the unnamed player bad-mouthing Griffin as a “star.” There aren’t many stars on the roster in Washington (some would say there aren’t any stars on the roster in Washington), but Jackson is about the closest thing the team has to a star. And one TMZ quote in particular, in which the unnamed teammate says he’s frustrated with Griffin because “We don’t have that real rapport,” sounds like the kind of thing a receiver would say about a quarterback. Jackson’s stats this season have been better when Kirk Cousins and Colt McCoy are throwing to him than when Griffin is throwing to him.

We don’t know and may never know who the player talking to TMZ about Griffin is, but just as Steve Young’s criticisms of Griffin seemed to be coming from Mike Shanahan, it doesn’t require a huge leap to infer that TMZ’s criticisms of Griffin may be coming from Jackson.

In any event, this surely won’t be the last time we see a story in which unnamed sources in Washington bad-mouth Griffin. It’s open season on RG3.

Danny ,you hire a coach then let him do his job as he decides.

Why doesn,t Danny just appoint himself as coach and avoid the middleman.

Sick of all the drama.

Hey guys lets get all excited again next year right before the draft and during the preseason. You know because we're only one draft away and teams come out of nowhere all the time!

I don't think so.

If a truly bizarre thing happened to Dan Snyder and he came to his senses, like Wile E. Coyote dropping a piano off a cliff onto his head, he'd just hire a full GM and let the GM decide who to bring back.

Come on piano!!!!!

I don't know how to feel about either one coming back. It looks like Griffin is a bust, which wouldn't bother me as much if I had any confidence in Gruden at all.

Gruden wasn't brought in with total football control. He's not the GM. His job is to coach the team and so far he's failed miserably.

DeSean Jackson's not playing today. No word yet on the others.

Honestly, would anyone be mad if Gruden, Allen, Haslett and the rest of the coaching staff we fired after this season?
I keep looking at that list, and I don't see a name on it that makes me think "you really need this guy; he's good".

There's a lot of dead weight and overpaid weight on the roster, too. And nobody around who knows how to improve it.

People everywhere are checking their couches for loose change this morning.

Nice to see that Gruden has cleared all this up.

Gruden told the Washington Post he’d like to have a franchise quarterback in place for next season, and he’d like to see McCoy emerge over the last four games of this season as that franchise quarterback.

“You don’t want to have competition at that position all the time,” Gruden said. “You’d like to have a guy you can say, ‘Hey, this is our quarterback, fellas. Let’s build our team around him!’ And then you have the competition between No. 2 and 3. We’ll see what happens these last four games. Then as a staff we’ll have to talk about the future of the position — whether we’re going to build around Colt, whether we’re going to have a competition between Colt and Robert and Kirk.”
Yeah, we'll just write this season off, it's no big deal, and then we'll evaluate things next preseason.

Here is my overall take on the Redskin's saga:

1. Gruden says he wants Colt to show he is a franchise QB in the next 4 games. He is staking his Redskin coaching career on it. It is clear Gruden does not like Griffin based on his comments a couple of weeks ago.

2. Why are there leaks that Griffin could start again this season? Because Snyder wants to get the message out that Griffin is not done. It is clear many of the leaks are sanctioned by the owner. But neither Snyder or Allen will talk to the media during the season. So the only form of communication is through leaks. Of course, in an environment of leaks, some times the opposing side also leaks out.

3. One of the keys to building a franchise is having the front office and coaching staff work together. It is called teamwork. I just don't see it here. Instead, Gruden is laying out one position and the front office is leaking out another position. Last year was the same thing, although it was not quite as obvious until all the leaks started coming out.

4. If the front office and coaching staff cannot work together as a team, why would anyone expect the players to be able to work together as a team.

If you look at it like this, the whole organization is in disarray and it would be difficult for anyone, players, coaches, GM, to succeed here.

So based on Colt's play these last four weeks he can lock up the job as starter for next year? $5 tickets for next season opener sounds about right.

smdh @ building around colt.

The whole QB controversy is just a glittery diversion.

This team is a wreck. Roster and coaching.

Jim Zorn was a better first year coach than Gruden has been so far. And we all know Zorn rode a unicycle and wore greasepaint and big floppy feet.

Since its been such a painful train wreck of a season, do you think it's asking too much to get great fatasy outputs from Reed, Morris, and gulp.....Garçon?

Redskins guys, is Garcon worth a start this week?
There is no way to tell. With the Rams having a good rush and the Redskins having a weak passblocking line it's likely that the Redskins will try a lot of short passes. Garcon is good at short and midrange passes over the middle. But there's no way to tell. Gruden may send him deep and let McCoy get killed, may throw 25 passes to Roy Helu. Who knows?
