***Official*** Washington Redskins 2014 Thread (In-Season) (1 Viewer)

I know this can't be any fun for Redskin fans, but this soap opera is turning into one of the most fascinating things I've seen in the NFL in quite a few years. The clash of strong personalities here (Gruden, Snyder, RG3, DJax) is pretty damn riveting. I never used to pay attention to the Redskins. Now I can't get enough of them.

It is sad, though, that the franchise has fallen on such tough times. I have some great great memories of the Skins from the 80's.

There was a similar soap opera at the end of last year, with Shanahan trying to get fired, and tons of leaks from the front office, and drama over who would be fired and kept.

At the end of it you had Bruce Allen and Jim Haslett left standing, for inexplicable reasons. Yet there was a feeling that the team's endless plummet to the depths had stopped, that there was now some sort of floor and solid foundation from which to build. And there was optimism, because, well, we're fans. We love them when they're good and when they suck, and we hope.

There was no floor. There was no solid foundation. The team is completely exposed now as a wreck from top to bottom. It's not fun now.

It will be funny to see how many people thought London Fletcher was a HOF contender in this area (which is pretty hard to swallow) now tell us how overrated he was and it would be a disgrace to consider him in the HOF

Appearing on the CBS Sports Network, he was relentless in his criticism of defensive coordinator Jim Haslett, who Fletcher played under for four years.

"He’s clueless as a defensive coordinator," Fletcher said, according to a transcript provided by the network. "He lacks attention to detail. He lacks feel on how to call a game. Some of the calls he used to call when I was playing were head-scratching. They were so bad, I used to change them, like, ‘We’re not running that.’ And we’d get off the field and he would ask, ‘Why did you change the call.’ (And I would say,) ‘Because that’s just a dumb call. That’s why I changed it.’"

On Twitter, Fletcher stood by his comments when asked about them by fans, adding another shot at Haslett.

"I guess I could've done it anonymous like everyone else or behind his back like him," Fletcher wrote.

He should be on the HOF. It'll take him a while though, he was always overlooked.

I like it just fine. As I've told you and everyone else for years, there's so much 'truth is stranger than fiction' stuff going on behind the scenes with this franchise, it's just shocking.

It all needs to come out, and hopefully with Fletcher starting the trickle, more folks will be emboldened to spill the beans.

Personally, what I'm looking forward to is more stuff coming out that I've heard first and second hand that I'm hesitant to share because it might get people I know in trouble...once it's public, all bets are off.

You'd be shocked, I tell you. Absolutely F'ing shocked.

...and a lot of the negative views you have towards certain past and present members of the organization might just change towards the positive...or at least not be so negative.

If it's going to start leaking, the whole boat needs to go down.

Gotta hit rock bottom before you can rise back up. I'm a firm believer in that.

I don't usually post during the game. But my quick take:

The offense is terrible. It is a pass first offense that cannot pass block with a journeyman quarterback. Who builds an offense around that? It is clear there is so little emphasis on running the ball they can't do that with any consistency.

The defense is playing reasonably well. Of course, these are two bad teams and one of them will win the game. It will be the team that sucks the least.

Redskins guys, is Garcon worth a start this week?
There is no way to tell. With the Rams having a good rush and the Redskins having a weak passblocking line it's likely that the Redskins will try a lot of short passes. Garcon is good at short and midrange passes over the middle. But there's no way to tell. Gruden may send him deep and let McCoy get killed, may throw 25 passes to Roy Helu. Who knows?
I couldn't do it

That is awesome.

I just hope McCoy takes all the blame in the presser or he might find his way back on the bench. #thingsgrudensays

I tried to din positives this year. Maybe a qb could develop. Gruden has a decent scheme. We have talent at skill positions.

I'm done. This is an embarrassment. Snyder needs to fire everyone on the football side of the operation. Get Allen out of football stuff. Can the whole coaching staff. Who cares how it makes him look. We are at the bottom. Nowhere lower to go.

And Moss looks like he still belongs on a team.

And it looks like he was doing the "Hands Up Don't Shoot" gesture after every play. So he is going to get crapped on for lots of reasons this week. For his sake he better hope it was done to mock the Rams for doing it last week

Moss played well today, one of the few who did.

Gruden's postgame press conference will be brutal. Deservedly so. He's out of people to blame.

24-0 loss to the Rams.

Gruden looks hopeless and without a clue. "I gotta look at the film" "we're all searching for answers"

He's lost. Looks like a dead man walking.

"Trying to get this thing fixed."

Asked how he felt about his ability to turn team into a winner and just shook his head for awhile.

Then game same answer about finding players who want to play that we always hear.

Would love for someone to ask him what he thinks "his" offense is missing. Being that he's a guru and all.

Rams dominate Colt McCoy and Redskins thoroughly in 24-0 victory at FedEx Field

Missing their top offensive threat in wide receiver DeSean Jackson, and with two other starters — linebacker and leading tackler Keenan Robinson and safety Brandon Meriweather, both also sidelined by injury, the Redskins proved inept on both sides of the ball.

It’s debatable whether or not those three would’ve made a significant difference on a team that appeared to have packed it in by the start of the third quarter.

Washington’s offense went without scoring a point for the first time since Oct. 30, 2011. But quarterback Colt McCoy may not have had time to go downfield to the speedy Jackson. His line offered little resistance and he got sacked six times and completed just 1 of 9 passes on third downs. The quarterback also threw two interceptions — both in Rams territory — the last coming with 5 minutes 15 seconds left to play and at the one-yard line.

While Meriweather’s replacement, Phillip Thomas, had his struggles, there were plenty of other holes in Washington’s defense, and the Rams steamrolled the deflated unit in the second half.

Jackson, Robinson and Meriweather wouldn’t have been on the punt coverage unit that gave up a 78-yard return for a touchdown, anyway.

The Redskins simply did not have the fight to eke out their fourth win of the season.

The Redskins have now lost double-digit games five times in the past six seasons. This goes way beyond quarterback Robert Griffin III and now the heat will fall on first-year coach Jay Gruden -- and it should also fall on general manager/president Bruce Allen. But Gruden is the one who wanted to bench Griffin and it hasn't worked out the way Gruden had hoped. Instead, the losing continues and the offense looked inept Sunday. They were missing receiver DeSean Jackson, but to get shut out at home is bad. It's hard to make a case the Redskins have improved in any way over the past year and they appear headed for another 3-13 finish, their second in a row.

The #redskins say Colt McCoy will go straight from stadium to hospital to have exam - Gruden said 'sprained neck' during his presser.
You don't think Snyder is telling his best friend Dr Beanie something like "you know those neck injuries can be really serious. maybe it is good for him if isn't available for the rest of the season"
Do you honestly think it matters who the QB is at this point?

For Snyder and probably Allen it does
