Don't think so.  In fact that was the whole point of this new "narrative" - Choice.  Ford even said,  "birth of a new people, and the choices they will have to make.  And the people they will decide to become." - "begins in a time of war, with a villain named Wyatt (Dolores) and a killing, this time by choice."

So to become free Delores listened to herself and killed Ford.

And I think he's really dead, but will live on through his children.
After 1Q...

6 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists.

It does bother me a little that the hosts 30 years ago (william) seem so similar to present day, but the old timer Ford would visit in livestock was severely limited.

Also, I think Logan is dead. He was the accident in the park 30 years ago. Nobody else knows about Arnold. And William saved the park from the ramifications of that accident (that he caused, but nobody knows that either).

Finished last night. Great first season!

I recorded the whole season over the weekend and actually watched the first episode last night too. It's definitely going to be fun watching this all a second time.

I have it on my dvr now. Plenty of room with the DirecTV Genie system.
  I've gone opposite direction lately... pretty much only record sports and stuff for the kids that isn't on demand.

But I get the idea of skipping the on-demand stuff and just hitting the dvr. I'm lazy too.

Have not read the whole thread.

Has anyone considered that Arnold was ahead of Ford - and had created his own Arnold robot to be shot by Dolores - and Arnold is living off the grid in the park.  If he was first to duplicate a non-host nobody would have suspected the dead Arnold was a robot.

Or maybe he is living in ninja land

I've definitely developed a Hybrid of my recording habits.

I'm finding now that premium movies don't hit On Demand right away all the time .  For example the last few HBO Saturday night movies have hit On Demand later in the week.

But some of the SHowtime premiere movies are still not on demand. So I try to record those

oh- forgot... TWD is a definite dvr. Not going to watch that drek PLUS commercials live.. it was made for DVR.  plus any other shows that are "live" new episodes that I want to watch in the days before they go on demand (TWC/Spectrum takes some time getting these things up... but it's random, and sometimes they'll skip episodes).

The real Arnold could be the third guy in the picture.

it's on HBO... why record it?
If you're viewing through cable tv HBO On Demand they will remove the series at some point.  I think it says in the "info" under each episode.  For some reason January is sticking out for Westworld.  I also think it's a cleaner FF/RW on the DVR, but maybe that's just me.

So you can't FF forward through those.  BUT you can page up.  If you reprogram your remote/box to skip ahead 30 seconds instead of 5 minutes.   voilà  skip commercials

we use HBO GO... has every TV show they've ever shown. didn't realize the pulled it from cable services.

I dunno about that.  I'm binge watching through all seasons of curb right now

Rewatching the series: Episode 1

Teddy asks Delores how do you make the herd of cattle go where you want. She points out that the lead one is the "Judas steer. The rest will follow wherever you make him go"  Teddy asks "How do you pick him out?" and Delores says" I just know these things. Same as how I knew you'd be back" Leading to the slaughterhouse?

MiB dialogue is so great now that we know he's William.

Clementine had the best boobs on the show although there was a blond that was with that group that lured Teddy away from Delores that had beautiful small ones.

So why did the photo of William's fiancée short circuit Delores' dad? Charlotte chooses him, and I remember it being intentional, to bring data outside the park. Could he already have been outside the park and that's why he can see the picture while Delores doesn't see anything? Theresa asks Sizemore "What do you think management's real interests are" A lot more going on with the hijacked data that I guess will be a big part of Season 2.

How did MiB know that Kissy had the map under his skull? I don't remember if that gets answered later on.

"Not gonna die this time Arnold" First mention of Arnold during milk guys killing spree, going out of his loop.

Ford telling Bernard that he's a product of a million mistakes but passing it off as a discussion about human evolution. Great dialogue between the 2 in that scene.

At the end, after the short circuit, Ford asks Delores' dad to access his previous configuration, at which point he calls himself Delores' dad but freaks out saying he has to warn Delores that she has to get out. When Ford asks him to access his current build, he begins to threaten Ford (and Bernard) Ford passes it off as the reveries recalling an old role but why was it during a current build.

Really fun show to rewatch.

Rewatching Episode 2:

When William and Logan arrive at Delos, Logan says, as he walks away "It's not like my sister didn't ride her share of cowboys when she was here" So, William's wife was at WW before he was. Can't think of how that is relevant for the season though.

Ford to Bernard "Is there something else bothering you? I know how that head of yours works"

Ford meets up with the host version of himself as a kid. Do we ever find out what happened to Ford's brother?

Knowing the timelines helps so much on rewatch.

Other than it could explain Abernathy's freak out if he was one of those cowboys back in the day...

Holy ####! :lmao:  I didn't even put that together even though I asked that question after the episode 1 rewatch. Makes more sense than me thinking he escaped the park somehow.

Somehow I doubt she was hooking up with old dudes with a wife and grown kid...
His previous narratives were as a sheriff and The Professor, from a horror narrative called "The Dinner Party". He was the leader of a group of cultist who turned cannibal.

Do any of those sound/look like the kind of "Cowboy", a wealthy young minx would spend big bucks to ####?

When Abernathy threatens Ford, he was quoting Shakespeare. Ford then says that The Professor had a fondness for quoting Shakespeare.

The photo triggers Abernathy who then gives Dolores the "violent delights" quote, which is from Shakespeare. Romeo and Juliet

Seems to me there's a connection between Abernathy and William's wife.

I really can't imagine how they stretch this out for 5 seasons if they don't leverage the other worlds in some way.  I mean who is gonna go to a theme park where the workers are gonna try to kill you?  If I wanted to be shot at I'd just go to Chicago and leave the extra 200k to my kids.

Another sort of gap in the story is the ammo used to be basically blanks.  How did they get real ammo?

agree about the first part.

ammo- delores got the special gun from Ford. I thought the rest of them were in cold storage and so could have loaded up on real guns in the WW warehouse (*assumption).

If the first season taught us anything, it's that everything we see has been very carefully orchestrated in order to tell the story that is unfolding. Sure, there were lots of "gaps" going from episode to episode but once we got to the finale all the pieces fit together perfectly.

In short, I wouldn't worry too much about plot holes. I think they have it covered.

If the maze is just a journey for the hosts towards enlightenment, how does it "present itself" to MIB after stabbing Maeve?  What is the point of it being on the inside of the scalp of the one host?

Actually, Arnold gave her that gun first. Do we see Ford give it back to her later on or know he buried it? Just before she digs it up, she asks herself "here?" Was that Arnold talking to her or her own voice and she buried the gun after killing Arnold?

Also noticed that William dropped the picture of his fiancée near the buried steeple but Dolores' dad found it at his ranch.

This was the cheesiest part of the show imo. They had to show it falling out? We know it get's left behind. Then it stays is great shape over 30 years? If they just let you forget about it after Logan tucks it in Williams shirt, we still know it gets left behind.

There were alot more cheesier elements.

Nobody questions where Ellen Page (never got her name sue me) and Theresa went?  I mean I'm not sure I ever heard a single person ask where Theresa went, they asked where ellen went a few times.  Even in the last episode where you'd think she'd be front and center.  You'd think this was a big deal, furthermore the idea that they could make a bot so lifelike that you could be a developer and NOT know that you were ####### one is stupid.  All of those are a little more implausible.

They could easily have tied that photo off cleaner by implying he came back with her photo in a later trip, but whatever.

What?

She died, everyone knows she died.

The tech girl was "on leave" with two episodes left iirc, so just left open for now i guess.

You mean where Theresa was going when she was killed?  They had a whole discussion about her dying but didn't know why she was at the location where she was found.
