***OFFICIAL WIS XIV DRAFT THREAD*** (1 Viewer)

If anyone is interested in a change of scenery trade (your headache for mine), these guys available:Bill Delancy (1/2 time catcher)Algie McBride (very good D OF)George Watkins (Poor D but "allegedly" good-very good offense OF)Joe Orengo (SS-2B-3B)Hughie Critz (2B)
remind me please... how do trades work when the teams have played an uneven # of games, due to simlive?

The SIM will prorate so if you played 50% of your games and traded for someone, you have half a season of theirs to work with. If you trade away a player to a team with 30% of their season done, they will have 70% of the season remaining.FYI, Appreciate the offer but its a bit too much for me to give up now and more importantly, I dont have the catcher PAs to go to only 100 from Delancy's 300. Ill check out your roster to see whats there. It seems my bats have awoken, at least a little for now.

does it matter how much that player has already been used by the team trading him away? iow, does his current fatigue factor come with him in the trade? would assume so, but cannot find any place that shows how much a player is currently fatigued. i can obviously see such for my own team, but not for other teams.

A players utilization by the team trading him does not matter. If you trade me a player that you completely overused and fatigued, I get him fresh with his full (prorated) complement of PAs/IPs after the trade. Likewise, if I trade you a player that Ive never used, you still only get his prorated share, no extra PAs/IPs.

HUGE early season sweep for me against Mr.P after losing 3 of 4 to TU. Keeps me in the early hunt. Bats doing a little better and I seem to have settled in on a "rotation" for now, though it needs a good deal of attention.Anyone want to trade stadiums?

is that a loophole for a team like Messersmith that has a depleted bullpen?

It takes two to tango

I'm around tonight. Drinking vodka and working on some projects. I'll be in live until midnight probably. Come get some nerds. :goodposting:

22.11 - Fred Tenney, PH/Really Bad Backup C

I think Gene Green gives me enough ABs at C in the 8 hole, but it not, you'll see the sweet, sweet, D/D/D+ glove of Fred F'n Tenney.
Tenney is famous for stealing 1st base. In a 1908 game, Tenney is on 1st and a teammate is on 3rd. Tenney steals 2nd, hoping to draw a throw so that the runner on 3rd can try for home. There's no throw. On the next pitch, Tenney runs back to 1st, so that he can try it all over again on the next pitch.Never mind that Tenney's team (NY Giants) were up 9-2 in the 8th at the time.
one more anecdote about Tenney...in 1908, Tenney was traded from the Boston Beaneaters/Doves to the NY Giants. In that 1908 season, Tenney started at 1B in all but one of the Giants games. The one game he missed - due to a back injury - was a key matchup with the defending champion Chicago Cubs, in the midst of a heated pennant race. Tenney's replacement was a 19-year-old rookie named Fred Merkle. Yes, this was the famed Merkle Boner game that ultimately cost the Giants the pennant.

Since the Giants won the World Series this year, I'm officially over Merkle's Boner. Snodgrass' Muff on the other hand...

That is all.

Team has stabilized nicely. Offense has gotten going and working it to have at least a couple big bats in each day. Still some disappointments (Ernie Shore and his .98 WHIP which yes, will normalize up but still) - but im not firesale-ing him for Buice. Still need some more pop from my early drafted bats, Dale Alexander and George Watkins - better than before but not where they need to be. If they can take off, I should be in decent position.

I'm just trying to make sense of these splits:

Pitching:

Home (16 games): .262 OVA/1.46 WHIP/4.19 ERA

Away(20 games): .206 OVA/1.15 WHIP/3.05 ERA

Batting:

Home: .242/.298/.345 - 7 HR, 5 3B, 24 2B - 3.12 RPG

Away: .267/.339/.373 - 12 HR, 5 3B, 32 2B - 4.65 RPG

So playing in hitter friendly Chase Field is having a predictable effect on my pitching staff, but my offense is somehow 33% worse at home?

Radatz is still fatigued from Hoss' riding him in Wis #2 :deadbanana:

oso novato leads the entire league in "expected winning %", which i assume is the Bill James' pythagorean formula based on runs scored and runs allowed. This formula expects us to have a winning % of .643.

Instead, we are 2-11 in one-run games, and are barely above .500.

Guys must be playing tight. Need to loosen them up.

Other than SimLive, there's no way to get a good hitting pitcher into your PH hierarchy. I think I tried with Doc Crandall in the deadball sim by force resting all my bench hitters, but the sim still picked them to bat.

The sim picked Bambino here with his 1.030 OPS ahead of the rest of my garbage on the bench. I was shocked.

True, but he was the starting pitcher. You can always uncheck PH in advanced settings if you don't ever want a player (even a pitcher) replaced by a pinch hitter.
