*** OFFICIAL WIS XVI Draft Thread *** (1 Viewer)

This draft ended for me the minute I figured out I could not roster Kiki Cuyler with my last pick.Tomorrow and Thursday I am out all day at the Pentagon, limited phone. You can text me but if I don't answer in 10 minutes, skip.
I too have been looking at Cuyler for about 7 rounds. There are still several OF options I like a lot -- just not quite as much as ol' Kiki. Couldn't make myself pull the trigger and instead of been filling in more scarce teams/positions.

How many IP do you need from each start to go with a 3 man rotation? 330+?I have a 4 man right now with:342314230306Just wondering if there's any chance of dropping to a 3 man sometimes.

I'll probably regret this as I don't need the depth. But I can't resist the urge to get a useful Met.

Cleon Jones, OF, Mets

The Mets were heavy underdogs in the 1969 World Series but took a 3–1 series lead. The Orioles were ahead 3–0 in Game five when Jones led off the sixth inning. Dave McNally struck Jones in the foot with a pitch, however, home plate umpire Lou DiMuro ruled that the ball missed Jones. Gil Hodges emerged from the dugout to argue, and showed DiMuro the shoe-polish smudged ball. DiMuro reversed his call, and awarded Jones first base. The following batter, Donn Clendenon, hit a two-run home run to pull the Mets within a run of Baltimore.

Following an Al Weis solo home run in the seventh to tie the game, Jones led off the eighth inning with a double, and scored on Ron Swoboda's double two batters later. With the Mets leading 5–3 in the ninth inning, Orioles second baseman Davey Johnson lifted a lazy fly ball which Jones caught to win the World Series

342/314/306 is pushing it. It would work as long as you have a deep bullpen. My team is 314/382/379.

Is 365/256/226/193 enough for a four man or am I going to need a 5th?
I would say 1000 is probably a good target. That's going to be a little less than 6 innings/game. (6*162 = 972, but we'll have high pitch counts).

Gotcha. May grab another to be on the safe side. Plus, Ojeda scares me.

Steve Ontiveros P The OaklandsIt'll probably mean another worthless expansion team roster spot in the end game but I'm rolling with quality over quantity.

Was eyeing ontiveros which on the bright side allows me to punt the As unless eeph wants to work a trade. Need a few

Really wanted Oliveros, but will go with a decent Arm who can also start and a weak franchise:

Tom Murphy, P Palm Springs Angels

14.11 Cy Williams - OF - Phillies

my favorite part of this draft has been learning more about Cy Williams. Was once the career HR leader in the NL, passing Roger Conner, until surpassed by Rogers Hornsby. Other good stuff in the bio link.

I'm looking to trade for a different stadium:I have the Vet-2 singles+2 doubles+1 triples0 HRLooking for a more negative HR stadium :coffee:

Steve Ontiveros P The Oaklands

This is a dangerous dance. Not sure if I'm doing it right and probably won't be until the end.
I'm at 4000 PAs and 1300 IP and we're just past the halfway mark. I figure the guys drafted after round 20 in this format will mostly be roster fodder. We all survived with some wasted spots in the alphabet and dice rolling sims. There was a big dropoff between Ontiveros and the best available expansion team RP. Surprisingly the A's lead with 20 players drafted already. The team is pretty picked over considering they had four very lean decades after Mack broke the great Philadelphia team up.

thought his 1924 season looked the best, but then i noticed that his 1923 season has been played over 1300 times in WIS leagues in the past 4+ years.
That looks like a glitch in the matrix to me.
High normalized HRs in 1923 season
So the 116 HR season is legit?
+4 HR park  Williams' log5 HR/100 rate in 1923 is higher than Sammy Sosa's in either of his 60+ HR seasons.
