In case you couldn't tell, I got hit hard at work today....thus, I'll continue to be spotty throughout the week. I have a meeting during lunch  tomorrow, so I won't be able to check in for a lengthy period of time like I hoped. I also have a semi-work function to attend around dinnertime, so I will be essentially without internet (unless "emergency") from like 8 AM until 8 PM. Derek/Boubucarow/Sebowski/Jmon (as you now have my number), please let me know when I am on the clock and if there's an issue. I'll do my best to respond to any texts if anyone needs anything.

I do apologize for the cluster#### this afternoon. No shtick, I got Boub's text while on the ####ter, and after cleaning up to go back to my desk, was called into the boss's office to discuss a project. By the time I got back, I sent out a frazzled text to a still unknown person in the 617 area code.....hopefully that won't happen again

really gotta get the priorities in order here. tell the boss you'll be with him in 5 minutes after you take care of your world cup draft.

2.10 David Silva, MF, Spain
:lmao: big fan.
He should be one of the starting 4 midfielders for Spain.Well, I hope so anyway... That means Cesc is likely on the bench.
I really love watching their midfielders play, even if I'm not really a fan of the team. Great to watch; Silva might be favorite of the bunch.
For a guy who plays with only 1 foot, he does very good for himself.

Really? I've never liked him and never understood how he gets time over Cesc.

So about 24 hours between my picks, lets see how rounds 3 and 4 go.

2.14 Lukas Podolski, ST, Germany

The most prolific international goal scorer left even if he hasn't figured out club football yet.

3.01 Gianluigi Buffon, GK, Italy

Trying to figure out what will be left at the end of round 4 seems impossible. Might have went Cesar if available but Italy's group should be prime for Buffon to get some points.

... and now it appears Spain's entire midfield is off the board before Landon Donovan gets a sniff
Before anyone from Concacaf or Asia gets a sniff. It will be interesting to see who breaks the seal by moving off the chalk.
Not me, yet. Almost went that way this round but needed surer things with the huge wait.
Not criticizing. The winner is going to be the guy who gets points from an unexpected source, IMO, but there's no way to know what team that player is on now. I might have made a wild pick by now, but that's probably my ADD talking.

Case in point, the NHL Pool, Cam was a late round selection, but helped me win the pool.

No, I know what you mean. I have an itchy trigger finger and wanted to take some surprises and might have if Podolski didn't fall to me. Buffon/Cesar I felt I needed before all the good keepers disappeared in the next 26 picks. If those two were gone along with practically the entire Spanish midfield, it would have been a crapshoot on who I would have chosen honestly.

tempted to join the GK run, but can't pull the trigger and will wait another day.

I like sharp elbows in my midfield:

De Rossi - MF - Italy

ciao!

3.3 Glen Johnson - DF - ENG

No idea if he would still be there coming back, but I like his chances of getting clean sheets and possibly some offense as well. Plus, I am going to know like 0 defenders left in a few rounds.

Our teams are looking to be an interesting contrast. Next to each other in draft position, you take a defender and two midfielders while I take 2 strikers and a goalie. Be interesting to see how it turns out.

reminds me of the time I got Davor Sukor at 8.07 in my big money league in '98I'll be damned if that crafty Croat didn't bring home the muther####in golden boot

Good times. I nabbed Hristo Stoichkov in the final round in 94. He wasn't even on the magazine cheatsheets the guppies in my league brought.

Of Course my 2 picks are gonna come up at 3pm ET just as my wife comes home from work and wants me to go out with her. :wall:

3.05 Sergio Ramos, DF, Spain

That makes 2 Spaniards for me. He's also one of my favorite players (even though he plays for one of my least favorite clubs).

I forsee a run on attacking fullbacks. Ramos is one of the best. Put a gun to my head, and I can't say he won't outperform Maicon. I can think of a few more in the mold who I would have probably selected ahead of Johnson.

Both Ramos and Maicon have put up far better offensive numbers for their clubs than for their countries. It will be interesting how that plays out.

Can't get ahold of him. We really wanted Ramos or Casillas.

Going with my next best after Ramos at his position:

Philipp Lahm FB Germany

Who does score for his country. I still think he's a disaster at the back and I die a little inside everytime I see him on a World Best XI team, but he's a great choice for fantasy, IMO.
