Don't worry, he will start hitting when it no longer matters.
0.120/0.241/0.240 for the postseason. 0.077/0.250/0.077 for the LCS.Does this hitting matter yet?
:toilet: pretty big hit today. maybe you should wait until the playoffs are over before making your asinine statements
Yeah that big hit, in a loss, brings him up to 0.174 for the LCS. Saying that you are happy with that is the asinine comment. If the Yankees somehow choke this thing away, the spotlight falls heaviest on this idiot and his timely "slump" in the offseason.Hope you enjoy playing both sides of this argument. When things go your way, you sure are quick to repost. Things aren't going your way, you make up excuses. Typical BS from a Yankee fan. Dude, I know you have issues outside of baseball right now, and I honestly feel for you. The entire working wife/daycare situation I had to fight for a year and it is no fun. I would rather just bury this topic and move on. Agree to disagree. It's not fun anymore. Your call.

In fairness, and I'm seriously not just saying this because he's a Yankee fan...but you did re-post when Tex was in the middle of his worst slump of the year, and then you accused him of doing the exact same thing.

That thread was dead in June, and then he brings it back up Oct 9th just to show how smart he is because Tex hits a walk-off homer. I brought it up again on the 20th because I realize I keep seeing 0-fers next to Teixeria every night. You can not seriously look at his numbers this postseason and as a Yankee fan say you are happy with him because of his "superior defense." The guy is Doug Mientkiewicz right now.But what do I know, all of my comments are asinine.

Dumb post. Every Yank fan wants Tex to rake a bit more, but ### ####, it's nice to have him pickin' it at 1B. I'm not the least bit worried about this, and he is in the bottom half of my concerns about the Yanks moving forward.

Teixeira has been in a pretty big slump this entire postseason, I don't think anyone really would argue that

That said, he HAS had two huge hits now, the walkoff homer in Game 2 of the Twins series and the bases clearing double in Game 5 versus the Angels

And he has been phenomenal in the field, saving several errors

Hopefully he is coming out of it, with two hits last game

So when do we admit that they destroyed Joba? You play games with his innings and then pull him out of the rotation for the playoffs so that he is fresh, then you keep him in the pen and now there is talk that he isn't dominating the pen anymore either. Hoe about we just keep him in the pen, tell him he's staying there and work from there?

If he ends up being a bright flash and then just another ritghy with solid but unspectacular stuff in a rotation - or worse, a middle reliever - the Yanks will need to revamp the entire method of dealing with pitchers in the organization.

Other then that, I have no complaints about the year now that the American League is over. That was my only gripe all year and it continues to be my only gripe. OVerall they picked each other up actually found some fire and drive and are fun to watch again. Yes, winning helps.

I dont think they destroyed Joba at all. The fact is he had phenomenal stuff as a starter last year until that bout of tendinitis. After that his mph dropped and that continued this year. He either is still hurt or he complete altered his mechanics.

Is this pretty much the worst Yankee OF in some time? I didn't really pay attention during the season, but everything is magnified this time a year, and there is not a single bat in the OF that would scare me. And their defense is not much better.

Is it a given that Holliday is a Yankee ASAP? Abreu back for another tour? Vlad? Jason Bay?

Ring or not, this has to be a priority for this team, or am I just seeing things wrong?

Like I said, I didn't get to see many Yankee games during the season. Can only go by the boxscores. It just seems during the playoffs, they look like the redheaded stepchildren to the infield.

Yep theyve certainly been struggling during the playoffs but when the Yanks infield is as good as it is (best infield ever?) their outfield doesnt have to be that great. During the regular season Damon & Swish had very solid seasons and did not hurt the team offensively at all.

You might want to tap the brakes a bit. They have the chance to be up there, but not yet. I'm a huge Hornsby fan and I know he was part of a New York Giant infield where all four players are HOFers. Bill Terry was 1B. The 70's Big Red Machine might have something to say about best infield as well (Rose, Morgan, Perez and Comcepcion).EDIT: I have a bad WIS addiction. I really need help.

Thats why I added the ? mark there. Slow down buddy. Jeez people look for any little thing to find fault in what I say.

Can we get an updated list of the "true" Yankees? A-Rod and Sabathia are made, I assume? Swisher and Teixeira not there yet?

NY has to at least try to make a run at Holliday, no? It sounds like Bay and Boston are hammering out a deal, it's pretty slim pickings in the OF after those two. I'm no NYY fan, but watching Johnny Damon throw makes my teeth hurt.

THANK YOU JOE GIRARDI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Genius Maker has just made you the next Genius....

I may be happiest of all for Joe.

The Man has Managed for 3 years - 1st year Manager of the year. 2nd Year was a Yankee team in transition and 3rd year WORLD CHAMPION.

In retrospect Torre was still learning how to tie his shoes in his 3rd year managing.... People forget stuff like that - Managing is something you grow at... But, Yankee fans are rarely patient.

That's all media contrived BS.... Texiera is all about New York the way he plays 1st base alone.I'm not sure the Yankees get this far with Giambi at 1st thru the playoffs, let alone the season.

Probably Hideki's last day as a Yankee. Thanks for the memories Godzilla.

Talk is they will probably try to bring Damon back although I'm not sure I agree with that.

Was this Pettite's last stand? If so, I will miss him about as much as I miss Paul O'Neill though not nearly as much as Don Mattingly. Just a great player and the only regret sad memory type thing I have with Andy is that he left for those 3 years for Houston.

Cheers to the BOSS!!!!!

While other owners pocket the revenue sharing, the BOSS pumps his profit back into his passion. Cheers to the greatest Yankee Fan of em all and the Greatest owner in professional sports!

 :lmao:

Well, one things for sure. If you throw enough #### against a wall, eventually some of it will stick.

:D27 and counting! :D
Rivera is freakin' amazing. I mean a few years ago we thought he might still be pitching, but he would be winding down and not be all that effective and here is still the best and a huge difference maker in the playoffs. Even more nuts is that he is the only pitcher in the history of the game to throw one speed and to so effective is just mind boggling. Every player thinks that 91 MPH pitch will be hit and time and time again they end going back to the dugout with a splintered bat. He is the best without question and because he makes his managers look like a genius, this is why I call him The Genius Maker tm

I'm fully on board throwing ALL of Matsui's money coming off the books Lackey's way...and then some if needed.

Sure we could use another big bat too, but bulldogs on the mound pay dividends in the playoffs, no matter how old they are.

So, NOW Joba becomes a dedicated Set up Man?

I think Marte could be even better if he can stay healthy a while.....

Hughes back to the rotation.

Is Wang gone? or is that something you have to monitor health wise.... Funny seeing him around last night, felt like forever since we've seen him last.

Sheesh.. I could be on board with throwing Damon and Matsui money around and getting some real outfielders.... Sounds like that might upset the Yankee Wives club though.Maybe the Yankees can CUT payroll again?

Good Lord I love how all I'm hearing right now from the national media is how much money this championship cost. What perplexes me though is that A-Rod's trangressions never came up once during his 'hot' postseason.

The Angels signed Abreu for 2 years at 19 mil.

Wang definitely gets another shot in the Spring.

NY Times story from a few weeks ago says he's hoping to be ready by May. Doesnt seem very optimistic. It appears the Yankees will non-tender him.

I doubt hed even be back to the Yankees

My predictions on what the Yankees do in the offseason:

1. I seriously doubt they go after a big time FA. I think they know last offseason that they were going all-in and that the FA money would dry up next season.

2. I think they'll sign one of Damon or Matsui to play DH. My guess is Damon.

3. I think they will resign Nady on the cheap as a backup OF/DH

4. I think theyll sign someone "cheap" to play LF. By cheap I mean like a Bobby Abreu deal and not a Matt Holiday. I have no clue who is available.

5. Theyll platoon Cabrera & Gardner in CF until Jackson is ready hopefully by midseason.

6. Swish is gonna be the RF still.

7. I think theyll go all-in with Joba & Hughes in the rotation. The rotation will be CC, AJ, Pettitte (who they will resign IMO), Hughes, Joba.

8. They will sign a veteran starter on the cheap that they can stick in the bullpen just in case one of the young guys falter.

9. They will give Joba until midseason to see if he can make it as a starter. If not they will move him to the bullpen permanently.

10. Cervelli will be the backup C

Not sure if everyone saw it but, for those not convinced yet, and as a Bleed Blue Yankee fan, I gotta say I agree with those who say Joba is a bit of a ####....... Every time I saw this guy "celebrating" it made me wince.... Guy has no class. And I'd bet that guys like Jeter and Damon aren't good buddies with this guy.

I'd have no qualms at all about trading Joba if you could get something back.

I wonder how people in the organization felt about Joba the past few years attitude wise - Cuz, as a fan, It pained me to even think of trading away young talent like Joba but, If I knew him personally and knew he was a #### that would weigh heavily with me being fine to package him up somewhere.....

I don't know about number one. With a huge core of this team being up there in age..... I think that if they get the chance to sign a young superstar....they will. It's not like this team in its current state (like the Phillies, RedSox, Rays) to compete at a high level for the next 4 to 5 years.

I mustve missed it. What did he do? Joba did get raised in a different background as most of the other Yankees. Grew up poor, raised by his father, estranged from his meth head mother, had a baby at a young age.

Just rubs me the wrong way... Has to go in front of the cameras and scream like a dumb ###....They were interviewing Damon and he kept pouring Champagne and beer on the guy and the had to put it down his shirt... The Look on Damon's face was like "Really, guy"..... That's funny the 1st time.Just oozes Zero Class IMO.... I guess he's young and he acts like it but, the way he rubs me plus the way he acted on that DUI, I have a feeling there's even more to it than that - I can't see this guy being much of a gentleman.....

Let's not paint the rest of the team out to be angelsMost professional athletes are #######s at best

I'm all choked up over here

Funny thing I was thinking during Game 6..... When Matsui went off and had the 3rd hit. The fans were a bit quiet... I guarentee you at least 20,000 people were trying their hardest to come up with a Cheer for Hideki Matsui....

I tried MAT - SU - I ... MAT - SU - I ... MAT - SU - I

Kinda works but doesn't roll too easily - And then the Andy Pettite cheers started. Much easier.

Don't forget to save some money to sign Bay and Holiday (maybe throw Halladay in there too for kicks and giggles) :blackdot:

I admittedly haven't given a ton of thought to it and haven't checked out all of the available FA, but I think I agree with all of this.
