Rather than pollute other threads with this, lets discuss here how the Yankees absolutely deserve an astericks for their Championships during Clemens reign....

Let the Yankee spin begin!

Sorry typed the thread from my cell phone.

Couldnt resist.

During the Yankees first 2 WS championships in 1996 and 1998, Clemens wasn't even on the team. Which would also suggest that Pettitte hadn't gotten around to using roids yet. And if Clemens was using in 1999, they didn't work.

Clemens average 1997-1998: 21-7, 282 K, 2.35 ERA 1.06 WHIP

Clemens 1999 full season: 14-10, 163 K, 4.60 ERA, 1.47 WHIP

In the 2000 WS, they beat a Mets team that had a certain clubhouse attendant who you might have heard of.

Like Shady's been saying, every team has steroid guys. Do the Yankees deserve an asteriSK if Jim Leyritz was on the juice? What about if Mark Wohlers was too? It's a bad era, but a bit late to whine about it now. Does Bonds deserve an asterisk? How about only for the HR he hit off of non-steroid pitchers? You know, since there's such an extensive list of who did or did not use. I hate Bonds, but for his personality -- not because he was a juicer.

C'mon people. We're smarter than this.

Nonsense. I doubt there was a team during the 90's that didn't have a player juicing. And I doubt there's a 'clean' team out there now.

Whatever team you root for, someone is juicing. Just like football.

Spot on.

Also, the Yankees need an * for 1950, 53, 56, 58, 61 and 62, thanks to Mr. Spitball Whitey Ford.

If we look hard enough, we can probably catch everyone cheating and wipe out all of baseball history and start over. Wouldn't that be wonderful?

:stalker: This guy gets it.

To me... As a Yankee fan....

ASTERISK THE YANKEES!!!!!

Bring it on..... Like I said to Pats fans... What the hell is wrong with an asterisk? An Asterisk means there's things "Up for Conversation" and with Roger, there are CERTAINLY things up for conversation.......

BUT, Personally I ALWAYS stood by my Point of view that A LOT of MLB took steroids and I NEVER Villified Bonds...

I'm glad I always stood by that POV and feel that a lot people who villified Bonds and now peek at this list and, oops see players they rooted for on the list have to backtrack........ Worse than that to me are the people who yesterday shut up and quieted down when they were worring "their guy" might be on the list and then afterwards jumped up and started pointing fingers when they were relieved their guy wasn't on it.....

A LOT of hypocrisy on this issue going around.

To me MLB has been a farce on this subject for a long time....

But, YES, asterisk the Yankees... Asterisk the Championships...

That's part of what baseball is about, the opinions and discussions of how and what effects the game.

The person I'd like to see interviewed as a followup is Tim McCleary. McCleary, as a Yankee assistant GM, hired McNamee back in 1993 to be an assistant strength coach for the Yankees. McCleary got bounced from the Yankees when Torre was hired, then he got a similar position in Toronto in '97. Then he hired McNamee as strength coach in Toronto in 1998, which is where he hooked up with Clemens and eventually followed Clemens back to the Bronx. Connect the dots.
