***Officialish Detroit Tigers Thread*** (2 Viewers)

Blogs are saying Tigers should go after Hanley Ramirez to upgrade the SS spot.
A-Rod would shore up 3B also.
Throw in Joe Mauer at catcher and you have a pretty decent hitting team.
Seriously though, trotting anybody out there besides Everett will make the Tigers look better at that position.I also have to go total :nerd: here and say that the minute Hanley did his little jag act last month I was on the phone with his owner in each of my fantasy leagues"That guy is a jerk. I wonder how long his suspension will be? Not long enough, that's for sure. Tough break for you if he's benched for a considerable period. Just saying...but would you take Carlos Marmol and Starlin Castro for him?" I would imagine MLB teams did something similar.

Tigers drafted Leyland's kid in the 8th round. He's a catcher with a scholarship offer to Maryland.

I can't believe how good Jackson is. His d is terrific.
:lmao: This trade looks like a winner already which I really did not expect. The Cabrera trade might just be the best single trade of any Detroit sports team, ever. He is just plain fantastic. Guillen to 2B seems to be a good idea and he is starting to hit now. I can live with not getting much from C or SS but Inge and Guillen have to hit for this team to be consistently good.I haven't seen highlights of the Galarraga game, and am in no rush to see the play. I lost that game on the radio in the 5th inning up north and then got a flood of calls and texts describing what happened. I was angry, but now I think it wasn't the worst thing in the world. A 28 out perfect game and that call is something most fans will never forget.

Even better than Steve Demeter for Norm Cash? or McClain, Elliot Maddox, Norm McRae, and Don Wert for Joe Coleman, Ed Brinkman, Aurelio Rodriguez, and Jim Hannon?

Or Doyle alexander for john...............

Three trades the Tigers should make now (I know these are dream trades?)

Oswalt, give the Tigers a second ACE pitcher, two top prospects will get er done

SS Ramirez, major upgrade over Adam E

A. J. Pierzynski, he is said to be available as the SOX want to rebuild, as per their G.M. is saying. A.J. perfect fit for short term catcher issue for Tigers.

Not easy to make the above trades, but if the Tigers want to blow everyone away in the Central these guys would get it done.

The first one could happen, though unlikely. The second one is a pipe dream, though we would all love to see it.And I want no part of AJ. Not only is he a total #######, but he's not good. Let Avila play every day. As bad as he's been, AJ offers nothing that we aren't already getting.

Gotta roll up some wins on this homestand or else.

Tigers may even luck out on the Washington rotation. Super-Rookie scheduled for the Indians & the White Sox series if I'm reading this thing right:

I want Oswalt if we can do it without giving up top prospects, I think I mentioned Streiby as a center piece a while ago but he's going to need a hot month to make that happen. I don't think Wells or Worth can get it done without adding Crosby or Oliver so I'm not sure what we can offer. I really don't want to give up any of our MI's or Avila and while I'd be ok with us dealing Boesch I doubt we'll do it.

I don't think I'm alone in saying I want nothing to do with Pierzynski, although he seems like the type Leyland would push for. Given the risks associated with Ramirez I don't think he's worth it unless the Sux are giving him away. If we're going to gamble on a short term fix at SS we need to start rooting against the Dodgers, for Dee Gordon, and hope they're willing to deal Furcal. I'm far from a Furcal fan because he's made of glass but if he doesn't cost much more than just $ he may be our best bet at a competent SS.

I don't get to see Gutierrez in Seattle play very often, but if he's better than Austin Jackson in CF, I wish I did.

3B Brandon Inge is slowly creeping his average up to .250. Inge had two singles and an RBI double to stretch his hitting streak to seven games. He's hitting above .300 for his last 10 games. He grounded a ball up the middle, doubled down the third base line and singled to right. Moving the ball around is something Inge does when he's hitting well.

Maybe Inge is hearing footsteps?

From who?On an unrelated note, I made a 2 for 1 deal and not being sure what to do with my vacant roster spot took a flier on Armando vs. the Bucs tomorrow. Here's hoping?

NICK CASTELLANOS, 3B. First round pick. The Greeks are coming to the rescue!!!

Cabrera is the best hitter in baseball this year, Pujols included. He's top five anyway, but he's just been amazing this season. Just wow.

Jackson out with back spasms but is considered day to day. I think we need to add a bat, somebody who can play 3B would be nice.

Max Scherzer for all the raw talent really has issues with location on favorable counts which is just maddening. That pitch to Willingham with a no ball, two strike count was as bad a pitch as you can make. It seems his fastball down in the zone is quite easy to hit, and teams have him scouted not only for that but for his poor location. He's still learning to pitch, but I'm not very encouraged by what I've seen so far this year from him outside that one fantastic game.

Cabrera ain't right and Yankee fans are moving up the dooshbag list for voting over and over again for Teixiera.

lol they can move up further than #1.Teixiera starting that game over Miggy will be an absolute joke.

Fortunately, Morneau has passed Teixiera for the lead. You can at least make the argument that he deserves to start.

The leader in home runs and rbi's with a .330 average not starting in the all-star game is lame, no matter who is starting ahead of him.

That's what happens when you let so many people vote so many times online. I'd be in favor of having each MLB ticket with a code that allows you one vote. Want to vote more than once, you have to buy more tickets. This way the people who actually go to the games get to watch their favorite players.

I'm a big Cabrera fan and wish he could get the start, but the fact is that the three best hitters in baseball this year have been American League first basemen. Cabrera has the lead in HRs, RBIs and SLG. But Morneau has the lead in AVG, OBP, OPS, and wOBA. Like it or not, Morneau has at least as strong an argument to start as Carbrera does.

Morneau and Cabrera are the two best hitters in the AL so I don't have an issue with both of them making it, regardless of who starts. Just pointed out Teixiera isn't in the conversation and its ridiculous fans in NY are voting him in there.

I completely agree. Also, just so no one understands, the third best hitter in baseball has been Youkilis. You're correct that Teixiera isn't even close.I just took issue with this sentence,"The leader in home runs and rbi's with a .330 average not starting in the all-star game is lame, no matter who is starting ahead of him."

5th win in a roll for the Tigers tonight

smokin hot, I mean red hot, especially against National league teams

The Tigers keep this up they will end up with the best record in the American League

Dontrelle Willis allowed five runs and five hits over five innings in his first game in Detroit since he was traded to Arizona on June 1. The left-hander, who struggled in his two-plus seasons with the Tigers, got a tepid greeting from the Comerica Park crowd.

Seems only right that the Tigers should get at least once chance to bat against Willis, after what he did for the Tigers

TIGERS only 1/2 game out of first place

7 wins in a roll :goodposting:

Hotest team in the AMERICAN LEAGUE

It was actually fun for once to see Dontrelle throwing a ton of balls, walking hitters, and getting knocked around. :goodposting:

Good to see them getting wins against the teams they need to beat.

Detroit, MI (Sports Network) - Mark Reynolds hit a two-run home run as Arizona snapped its franchise record 14-game road losing streak with a 6-5 win over Detroit in the second of a three-game interleague set.

Gerardo Parra hit a two-run triple and scored once while Miguel Montero added a solo home run for the Diamondbacks, who had dropped their previous four games. Edwin Jackson (4-6) got the win as he gave up four runs -- three earned -- on nine hits with two walks and four strikeouts over 7 2/3 innings.

Arizona had not won a road contest since taking a 5-1 decision over Florida on May 17.

Alex Avila and Magglio Ordonez each drove in two runs while Miguel Cabrera added an RBI for the Tigers, who had a seven-game winning streak and a nine- game home winning streak snapped. Rick Porcello (4-7) dropped his third straight decision as he was tagged for five runs -- four earned -- on eight hits with a walk and four strikeouts over 5 1/3 innings

Wow, didn't know AZ was so bad on the road. They should send AZ to KC for about 20 games

Porcello optioned to Toledo. I'm wondering who will take his spot in the rotation? Bonine or Thomas until he gets a start or two down in Toledo?
