***Officially Unofficial Week 17 FBG Kicker Contest!*** (1 Viewer)

  • To qualify, your selected kicker *Must* make a FG.

Also does making only a PAT satisfy the "must make a FG rule"? Or must there be a 3-point field goal?
Yes. You can guess 1 point if you think your kicker would only have a single PAT.

And since distance isn’t scored for PATs, your guess would be formatted “1 point, 0 yards”

Man, I’ve been running some variation of this contest for 4 years - how has this never come up?

A PAT is a made kick, but it is worth 0 yards. As such, I’ve reconsidered that. It’s a cheap way to get around the requirement to guess a distance.

it violates the spirit of the contest. Any entry with a PAT-only guess will be DQ’d.

This has never come up and I made a bad call initially when asked. I’ve changed my mind. The rules in the OP actually cover this since there’s a yardage minimum (greater than 0)

TL/DR: A field goal must be made to guess distance of a field goal.

PAT-only submissions are invalid. It’s not fair to contestants who have to guess both distance and points.

I have deemed PAT-only as “shenanigans”. This is my final decision on the subject. No further shenanigans will be tolerated.

ETA: guesses must be greater than 0 points, 0 yards. Also, the kicker must be active at game-time, and must kick a minimum of 1 FG. This should all go without saying, but….yeah. :oldunsure:
This was added to the rules shortly after the shenanigans started.

As such, my subsequent answer regarding PAT-only was incorrect. Must be greater than 0 yards. For this contest PATs are 0 yards. As such logically a guess may not be PATs only.

Please see last posts. I’ve changed position on this. Your kicker *must* make a FG. It was in the rules already. You *must* have a distance guess, as the rules indicate “greater than 0 yards”.

Please delete, and re-enter, thanks. And apologies for my knee-jerk bad call when initially replying to you. That was my bad.

DQ’d. “Yardage must be greater than 0” is in the OP rules.
:penalty:

My answer to “what’s yardage worth for PAT” is not a loophole to not guess a long FG.

Please delete & Re-post a valid entry, thanks.

Well, frick. The shenanigans well is running pretty dry.
New submission.

Wait, basketball players make "field goals", and a basketball player would be a "kicker" (a "sudden, surprising turn of events") in this contest ... would that ... be considered shinoonergoops, or ...?

Bullock: 5 points, Long FG 41 yards

FG 45
FG 30
1 XP

Total 8.5 points - 3.5
4 long kick difference

Total 7.5

Probably good for 3rd place and one bottle of hot sauce.
:penalty:
There is no 3rd place.

SHENANIGANS!

Your dad?

No sauce for you.

4 xp + 4.3 + 2.4 + 2.3 - 1 = 12.0 - 8.3 = difference of 3.7
43 long - 43 = difference of 0

Total difference = 3.7

  • Pick a kicker. He's your pony for the week.
  • Guess that kicker's total points, and longest FG kicked using decimal scoring. Example: 45 yard FG = 4.5 points, 37 = 3.7 points, etc.
  • For this 1st contest MPAT (missed point after touchdown) and MFG (Missed FG) = -1 point. Often these contests are decided by less than a point, so choose that K carefully, because 1 MPAT could kill ya! ☠️
Note: blocked PAT or FG are not -1)
  • The predicted K entry to the contest who's guesses are closest to BOTH total points, and long distance will be the winner.
  • To qualify, your selected kicker *Must* make a FG.

I’m thinking that last night’s game will not be included, unfortunately.

There’s no other way to do it unless everyone wants me to wait to see if that suspended game is to be resumed?

Not sure what to do here.

Don't see how you can hold off--it may never be resumed. I'm biased by my current standing, but I'd chalk it up to "them's the breaks".

You could allow those that picked Bass/McPherson to pick someone for week 18 and just leave the suspense for the winner for another week. Any hurry to find a winner?

That’s how I’m leaning, but I’d like to give it until tomorrow to see if the NFL announces anything.

Apologies for the delay folks. There will be a winner & 2nd place awarded.

I appreciate the suggestion, but I don’t feel that’s fair to the folks who guessed for week 17.

Why not? They were waiting to see what Bass/McPherson did anyway so what's another week? or just keep the Bass/McPherson guesses and transfer to the week 18 games?

ETA: It's kind of a disadvantage to the Bass/McPherson guesses because they are against different teams so all the high level research won't be applicable that led them to their totally scientific answers. hahahaaa
