OK, so Jamal Lewis sucks... (1 Viewer)

But after Billick's comments, is it possible he makes a full time move to Musa or Mike Anderson?

If so, and I for one believe he might, who do you target?

Musa hasn't really impressed me, but Mike Anderson looked awfully good vs. Denver.

So do you target any of these RB's?

What were Billick's comments again?

Sorry...Ravens: Lewis to share carries?10/13/06 11:17 AMTHE NEWSThe Ravens may get both Mike Anderson and Musa Smith more involved in their running game, following a second straight outing in which Jamal Lewis struggled. "We need to run the ball better," Ravens coach Brian Billick told the Baltimore Sun. "I've said it a number of times—and I don't mean to be insensitive—I don't give a flip on who carries it as long as we get the productivity and as long as we get the number of runs out of the running game."www.fanball.com - Newsbreakers

Sounds like a full-blown RBBC which really sucks cause I have Lewis, Anderson, and Smith, and in that scenario all three are useless. No reason to try and figure it out until after this weekend.

Anderson has shown flashes, but hasn't gotten a lot of work. Musa has also shown flashes, but it's not like he's clearly out-performing Lewis (I think Musa's ypc is around Jamal's). Though Musa is more useful on passing downs.

I agree though - looks like it's RBBC bound. None of them will be very valuable, but I think Lewis will still be the most valuable.

Lewis was supposed to be my steal of the draft this year, and he looked awesome in the preseason, but after watching him in a couple of games, he just looks tentative, slow and EASY to tackle.I'm not sure what the F is going on with him, but if he'd hit the damm hole with a little fury, he might actually punch a TD in once in a while.I have a gut feeling that somebody is gonna win this job outright, and may be a viable fantasy producer, because it's obvious they can't solely rely on their passing game.Oh, and McNair STILL sucks. Man, he's the calmest looking choke artist I've ever seen.

I too think Lewis has looked slow, indecisive, and just plain mediocre the past few weeks. That being said, he faced SD (#1 rush defense) and Denver the past two weeks, so it's not as if he's not performing against weak run D's.

I'd pick up Anderson if I owned Lewis, but personally I think Lewis' downfall is a bit premature. We'll know more after the Saints and Bengals games.

 Just unloaded Lewis and the biggest TE disappointment of the year (Heath Miller) for a WR upgrade in Toomer. Only time will tell, but I think this one just might blow up in my favor!!

That said, Lewis is pitiful and he has become a weak runner. I mean seriously, the dude is 245 pounds and he can't even bowl over defensive backs anymore. Not sure what's up, but the guy just ain't got it anymore. :X

He just does`nt run HARD anymore...almost like he`s afraid of real contact and would rather fall down at the first touch rather than take a few hits as he tries for more yards...........

This is all a carry over from last year when I thought he was going to blow up.

All last year, he looked tentative, hesitant, reluctant to go through the hole, etc.

I really just don't think he has it any more for whatever reason.

If Musa can stay healthy he'll be a beast, but that has been his MO from his UGA days, he has never been able to stay on the field long enough to find out.

Agreed. Take Mike Anderson out of Denver, he's worthless. i can't see Anderson over Smith at all.

Even though the Ravens also look playoff bound, could see them with an eye toward next year and giving Musa a look to decide whether he's worth resigning.

Bal probably learned their lesson a bit watching Priest and Taylor blow up on other teams with nothing to show for them.

Here I was pondering if I should trade Julius Jones or JLew for Chad Johnson. The RBBC in Dallas with Marion Barber stealing carries was the clincher and that is why I shopped JJ. Looks like I dealt the wrong guy. :wall:

Moving forward, what is fair trade value for Lewis these days?

Musa Smith is still taking up a roster space on my team, but I think he'll be most useful come FFL playoff time. Unless JLewis dramatically improves, I think Smith will eventually be getting the more carries out of the 3.

Last year Chester Taylor was supposed to take over and be the primary carrier. It didn't happen. I'll believe more carries for Musa/Mike when I see it. Billick is loyal to a fault.

you don't need a news clip to tell you Lewis is getting phased out. If you watched MNF you would've seen him come off the field on 3rd downs and didn't even touch the field in the 4th qtr.

full blown RBBC from here on out...

jamal lewis has, ok brace yourself, one TD this year and one reception. one. freaking. reception. not sure how his upside exceeds the other 2 guys mentioned.

i traded him for the Vikings D this past week, and i play in a start 3 RB league. couldnt be happier. kept Musa and sent the tub of goo packing.

if 14 carries for 40 yards a game with one TD per month sprinkled in is your thing, he's your guy.

Jamal Lewis always comes out on 3rd downs... along with Shaun Alexander, Willie Parker, and Rudi Johnson to name a few. Jamal is starting to be called out publically and if he doesn't have a good showing going in to their bye week, it may be RBBC the rest of the season. Unless Jamal gets hurt, it will be RBBC at best. Anderson or Smith will not take the job outright.

Funny, I seem to recall him dropping a pass in the 4th quarter of that game, that would've given the Ravens a first down.In any case, he sucks.

Yup, Mike Anderson sure looked useless last Monday. Although, I suppose technically you could argue that he was still in Denver at the time... :lmao:

Jamal just hasn't been the same since the legal problems. Has that messed up his head? I had him the year before all of that when he topped 2000 yards. He just isn't the same anymore.
