Ok, so most of us are a decade plus invested in the FFA (1 Viewer)

All props to Otis's thread first.  Thank you Joe, David, staff and people 10 years in plus.

Well, there might not be new blood coming in but something great can be said that most have been here for a very long time, through many different phases of life.

So, why have you stayed here for over a decade(or less for the 5 other guys)

I was going to rant my reasons but I think it would be best to let you all say why.

I like reading funny stories, living vicariously through others, discussions about breaking news/ products/bands/women/etc.

After thirteen+ years i have come to appreciate the ebb and flow of life & the events shared by the people i "know" here.

Wasn't woz still an undergrad when he was sharing his saga with her? Now he's a family man well into his career.

Wasn't otis an early-year associate when he shared stuff like HBFA saga/other stories of various chicks/pics of chicks in his bed? Now he is clark Griswold the 1%er.

Many other examples, but the community is why i keep returning. I'm pretty sure that the only reason that i subscribe to FBG is to pay my FFA tax.

I have come to realize most of the people on here are argumentative miserable dooshes conatantly trolling or pushing their agendas but there quite a few that are helpful understanding and funny that make it still tolerable.

It's like home on some level or some ifamily that keeps me coming back.

There are times that I thought about pulling the plug on visiting this place as the predictable nature of how each thread seemingly turns into crap makes it feel like a waste of time. Now I just visit certain threads try to get some funny out of this place and generally have lower expectations on how threads will turn out.

I love the rally to people who need support too.

WTF else are the posters primarily middle-aged, not super partisan politically, and are somewhat humorous, yet still young enough to enjoy the yoga pants and Halloween costume pics?

I am a Stay-at-home Dad. FFA is in a sense my 'water cooler,' since I am not in an office with lots of people. It allows me to be involved in office-like non-work related back and forth with people that I don't get while trapped at home.

I don't talk about controversial topics in real life with many people, so this place gives me a good understanding of different opinions on politics, social issues and current events.

Plus, I'm sure I'm going to need to know when to start hiding money eventually.

I work with all women and my dad.

This is my water cooler also especially since the league chatter on my ffl board died years ago.

This is a deeply personal confession to make but, for me, it's because I can't remember my log in information on any other site

This is a pretty good place to talk about changes and new developments and to make fun of the "it'll never happen" brigade.

I've wondered what would happen if Joe and David shut it down - would we all head over to :e:, find some place else or just go our separate ways.  Thank god we've got the FFA buddy system to stay in touch with each other.

Generally a good place to talk about stuff I don't get to talk about in my real life.  For better or worse I am not worried about offending or being offended (Trumpers strain this  ).

Still use the Shark Pool half the year.

Otis.

Good people.  FFA has become a brotherhood of sorts (reference the response to guys like Shady, Biggie and Ham when they had to through the unimaginable).  Lots of knowledge on a host of different topics.  Fellow :nerd: s for WIS and sports discussion in general.  I've learned a lot here over the years on a bunch of different things.  Mostly by PMing Shuke.

Other boards are scary and strange or in the immortal words of Abe Simpson:

"I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too."

The FFA has adapted to my needs over the years.

In my early 20's, it was truly a place to talk about fantasy football, cars, and hot chicks, as well as to share exploits about dating strippers.

In my mid 20's it was a place to get advice on all matter of things.

In my late 20's/early 30's was the closest I came to leaving this place as I was really busy with graduate school.

Now, in my mid/late 30's, it's a place to talk about current events, house projects and office pranks, and reminisce about hot chicks and exploits dating strippers with someone other than my wife.
