One Hundred Pushups (1 Viewer)

By the way, I was talking to my dad over the weekend and I told him I was trying to get to 100 pushups. Rather matter of factly he told me that when he was in the army he could do 300 straight. :eek:
Did he walk to school 15 miles uphill, both ways, too?
No, you don't know my dad. If he says it, he did it. I believe him. He's always been a pretty strong guy. Even at 78 and after 2 open heart surgeries and a stroke he's still pretty strong.
yeah, well, my dad could do 1000!!!

I'm just making fun of people from his era.
 
I've been doing 3-4 sets of 30+ pushups a night for at least two months prior to this, figured I was ok. What is killing me is the rest between the sets.
I'd commented much earlier that I've been doing pushup routines over the past three years (450-500/week or so) ...but I've been changing the focus to the quicker pace used in this program, and I can sure tell the difference! Instead of spreading out my reps (30-40 each commercial break, for example), I'll do the sets quickly with some situps or stretches for a minute in between. We'll see how it goes. Last night: 25/25/15/15/40.
 
Even though I did not always hit the minimum for the last set in week 1 I decided to continue on instead of repeating. It appears that has worked since I just finished week 2, day 2 and exceeded the last set min.

 
Fell back down to 66 on my max when I had 72 last friday. That most likely has to do with tubing all weekend and my arms being sore.

 
Just did 72. Didn't warm up at all, so I bet I could have hit 90 or so with no problem.

eta - highest max before that was cacksman at 60. weaklings.

Did week 1 day 1 again tonight ( should have been last night). Managed 17 on the max last set so that is some improvement. Definately feel a lot better then last week after being done and felt like I got more out of it this time.

 
Starting to feel like I have my max in my head from last time and need to better it, and as soon as I get that one additional up my arms turn into mush and it's over. Guess one more each time is better than nothing though.

I finished Week 1 Day 2 yesterday. It was tough going while doing it, but surprisingly I don't feel sore at all otherwise.

Yeah, I struggled a bit last night myself. I think I was just tired. But I did manage to max at 22, so I'm pleased so far. But I'm looking at the jump next week and having my doubts.
 
Just did W1D2. Struggled on the Max at the end. Went 12/12/10/10/12. W1D3 should be interesting. Here's hoping I can make it through. Might have to repeat W1 if I do though, looks like W2 is quite the step up.

63 more days and you will reach 100.I have decided to give this a shot. Will do the test either later tonight or tomorrow and start on monday,
 
I did w1d2 on wed night: 12/12/10/10/6/6/7/10. I couldn't hit the minimum max of 10. So I kept trying additional sets with 60 sec wait time and finally got to the minimum of 10. I didn't feel too bad after. I'm hoping w1d3 tonight won't be too rough.

 
Finished up WK2 this morning with 15/15/12/12/22. Still not seeing much progress on the last set but it's been a really long layoff since my shoulder surgery several years ago.

There isn't another max test after W2 is there?

 
Week 2 done and passed all of the minimums, but I do not think my overall max has increased too much. I will see on Sunday. At least I know I have gone up a few since my initial max was 10 and today I did 12 on my last set.

Crap. So on Sunday I need to just crank out one max set and start W3 on Monday. Great. I'm pretty confident I'll get to 45+ this time but still.
 
W2 D3 15/15/12/12/23

My max has stayed pretty much the same after the initial 4 sets, although the number leading up to the max has increased. We'll see how that transfers to an overall max on Sunday. I'm not feeling real confident about week 3. 25/17/17/15/25? I can't see that happening yet.

Go ahead and enter your data into the spreadsheet. It will help track your progress. Looks like you are doing well. As for the totals, they are meaningless in this program.
