Keep living in denial, son and keep hoping that LJ gets more than his 9 carries a game.  True sharks know the situation, others think they do.
LJ would have had more carries if he hadn't done so well. You guys who keep harping on the fact that LJ only had 9 carries should realize that if he had averaged 5 ypc instead of 12+, he probably would have had twice as many carries. He was in as the RB for those series, and because he was so effective, it took fewer carries to cover the yards and get in the end zone.To assume that LJ will only max out at 9 carries a game after week 1 is silly. If he only gets 9 carries, it's because he's doing amzingly well like in game 1. He's much more likely to get 10-15, and maybe even more if he has the "hot hand" relative to Priest and they pound the ball late in the game. After week 1, they've indicated that they'll have to play LJ more, especially if he has the "hot hand" -- 2 series for Priest, 1 for LJ, then lean on whoever's more effective.

Priest is a stud, but he turns 32 next month, and Vermiel wants to keep him healthy by not overworking him, especially when not necessary late in games that aren't close. He'll remain the starter while healthy, but that doesn't necessarily mean he'll always be the highest scoring fantasy RB on the team (as seen in week 1).
Wouldn't the same argument hold for Priest as well? They do rotate series and not posesssion, correct? So having said that, if LJ is not ripping off 40 or 50 yard runs, wouldn't Priest be getting extra touches there as well?
Priest averaged 3.86 ypc, so I don't understand your point. If Priest averaged 12+ ypc, he'd have had fewer touches, not more."Rotate series and not possession?" What's the difference? A series of downs is a possession for the Chiefs.

I saw the game. LJ picked up all the yards running through gaping holes. not by making something out of nothing. Priest broke a few for 6-10 yards when the blocking collapsed. IMO the better back is still Priest.

That said, in a keeper league I totally agree. trade an older productive back to get LJ on your roster for later.
Sorry but if you watched that game you really can't honestly say Priest was the better back.
I have both in different leagues and both in the same league in one. I also watched the entire game from start to finish because I live in NY. LJ was far and away the better RB imho, and it wasn't even really all that close.

For those that missed the press release, Holmes has scored 69 TD in his last 40 games played.
And THAT is A LOT of wear and tear and the same kind of comments were made about Falk just a short time ago. You know RB CAN greatly decrease from one year to the next.
I think you are sniffing up the wrong tree.Holmes was not a starter until he got to KC a few years ago. People always like to use the wear and tear and age excuse when they talk about Holmes. Who will have more wear and tear at the same age: Tomlinson or Holmes? The answer would be Tomlinson because he has started games from day one.

Yudkin hit the nail on the head. Vermeil respects Holmes and he will not start LJ over him. It's plain as day and crystal clear. Keep living in denial.

BTW, I own both.
No doubt that Priest will start but that has nothing to do with this, please try and stick to the topic.

I have to say that you can quickly tell who watched the KC game last week and who didn't. Pretty funny to see people comment about the game when they didn't even watch it. No skin off my back, I have LJ.
 YOu have LJ?????

No kidding!! The tone of all of your posts suggests it. It also blinds your objective view of the situation. Keep living in denial, son and keep hoping that LJ gets more than his 9 carries a game. True sharks know the situation, others think they do.
I've said plenty of times, LJ worth or not has little to do with how well my team will be this season. Do a search to see my other RB.

Come SNF you are going to see LJ's "official" coming out party. For those who watched last week's KC game, it was cristal clear who the better back was, the tougher, fresher back..and it wasn't Priest. If I didn't have LJ I would definitely trade a CMart or older type back or WR to get him NOW. For those who didn't get to watch the KC game, please don't chime in until you watch it first.

We'll need a quarterback. QB Chad Pennington should fit the bill well here.

I think it's funny that I'm being advised to buy Larry Johnson low after a game where he averaged over 10 yards a touch and a TD every 5.

What, is he going to average 15 yards a touch and a TD every 3 this week? I mean, that's pretty much what he'd have to do to drive up his value right now. No player is ever available "cheap" after they put up 10 ypc and 2 TDs on 10 touches.

I suppose I should be looking to buy Keenan McCardell, Carnell Williams, and Willie Parker cheap right now, too, huh? Maybe I should try to trade for C. Anderson before his value goes up? Make a move on Jimmie Smith while he's still a bargain?
Come on SSOG, I normally agree with your posts, but not this time! All the guy is saying is that he thinks LJ's cost will only get higher. I don't see that as a bad assessment. Can you get him cheap? NO!

Can you move a CuMart or Dom Davis to get him? Maybe

Could you move a couple of quality players to get him? Probably

All of this is assuming the original poster is talking about a keeper or dynasty league.

For a re-draft, no, I wouldn't be moving CuMart for him. In dynasty, absolutely!

It is obvious that there are two camps out there in FF. One says Priest is still the man, and one says LJ is gaining playing time each game.

So, if you can get LJ from one of the non-believers or "sharks" hoping to prey on your "over-exhuberance" or manlove for LJ, and move him a top 20 WR from your depth in a keeper or dynasty league, then I say to do it!

For every one bashing the original poster out there for this thinking, there is someone else out there looking to secure the better of the two backs going forward.

Just my $0.02.
I'm pretty sure hes talking about a redraft when refeencing C-Mart for LJ trade. In a dynasty league, I can't imagine that trade gong through without several owners complaining of collusion- and I would be one of htem. In a dynasty, LJ is my #1 ranked overall player just ahead of LT2.

Just to add, I would easily trade C Mart fo LJ in a redraft league. i think that LJ will definitely have more FF pooints this year, and I'd be willing to back that up with a sig bet.

I'm an LJ owner it the 2 leagues that count for me. I don't own Priest. The bottom line is production. They are both productive and as long as it ends in results Vermeil won't nor should he make any type of change. These guys are going to split carries until:a. one of them gets hurtb. it stops workingc. the coach gets pissed off (LJ complains)d. they are out of the playoff hunt. Both backs are gold.....for the time being.

I was figuring this would require explanation. My take on your point was that LJ only had 9 carries in the game, to which he had some big runs that shortened drives. The point I think you (and others) have been trying to make on this board is that LJ would have gotten more carries if he wasn't so productive, i.e., the drives would be longer thus more opportunity for carries. My point is that assuming LJ isn't as productive in his carries and the drives were lengthened, wouldn't that allow for more carries from Priest as well. Bear in mind, they rotate series, not drives. If LJ gets two runs for 5 yards and gets a first down (rather than, say the 35 yard TD run) doesn't Priest come back in on that first down? I believe that's how it works.

No, that's not how it works. A series of downs is the same as a drive. They don't rotate each first down. That would be silly. They don't switch until they either score, punt, or turn the ball over. Series = drive.

The LJ owner in my league has K Jones and Jordan an his RB1 and RB2, and he aint coming off LJ. No way, no how.

Yep Priest sucksIts a COMMITTEE this season why wont people get that thru their skulls. No one guy will get 25 carries a game. I dont care if Johnson gets 30 a carry, he will still split with Priest......same thing the opposite way.

Classic LJ owner that does not have Priest. As Grandpa Joe said while Charlie was dreaming about getting the golden ticket: "Let him sleep, let him have one last dream."
:lmao:

I just dealt LJ away. Feel free to crucify me. I know this is not a popular decision on this board.
Totally depends on your needs. There isn't one player that should be 100% untradeable.

I needed a RB to play. I had Andre Johnson stinking up my flex spot. With this trade I can put Westbrook at my flex.I dealt LJ and Tatum for Edge. 100% of my league is freaking out about the trade. Half think I ripped off the other guy, the other half think I got ripped off.

I am happy with the proven commodity. I just think with Priest there, LJ wont get enopugh carries to be consistently worth starting. I know he'll have some great games. But there are going to be games where he gets 11 carries for 39 yards or something and I don't want that.

Yep Priest sucks

Its a COMMITTEE this season why wont people get that thru their skulls.

No one guy will get 25 carries a game. I dont care if Johnson gets 30 a carry, he will still split with Priest......same thing the opposite way.
I bolded the most relevant point. No one guy will get 25 carries a game ON ANY TEAM. That's 400 carries on the season.ALL TEAMS in some way have a committee. The closest non-committee teams are IND, CIN, NO. Everyone else has a rotation for the most part.

Does it really make any difference how many carries Johnson gets if Holmes gets 300? Holmes could get 300 carries and LJ could get 150 . . . I suspect any Holmes owner would be happy with that.

Like I said, this rotation will only prolong HOlmes for the season. I was hoping that he gets most of the carries during the games like last year and he burned out and then LJ came in permamently like last year. This 2/3rds thing won't amount to more points per game for Priest but you have more of a chance to have him later in the season.

I have to say that you can quickly tell who watched the KC game last week and who didn't. Pretty funny to see people comment about the game when they didn't even watch it. No skin off my back, I have LJ.
Hey I think it's funny you can tell who watched the Cleveland game last week because they're the idiots who are giving me Frisman Jackson for such pocket change as Drew Bennett. What idiots, if they'd watched the game it would have been clear that Frisman Jackson is a stud and clearly the best WR on the entire team by far.
I remember when Faulk got hurt a few years ago and Trung Canidate stepped in and had over 500 yards and 4 TD in 3 games. Did that get Canidate much beyond that and did he kick Faulk to the curb?

I watched the Chiefs game. Johnson looked fantastic. Holmes didn't look bad. IMO, many of Holmes' carries he had little running room and got hit in the backfield or right at the line of scrimmage. In Johnson's limited carries, he did have a burst but his long runs he had the Grand Canyon to run through.

Either back will rely on his OL to be able to move the ball. The stat sheet shows that Johnson did better last week, but it doesn't show Holmes with 30 yards on 22 carries and 0 TD either.

NFL coaches don't think like fantasy owners. Holmes will continue to get a ton of carries and touches. Johnson may get more of a workload than a typical backup.
Oh and Priest burst did anyone come close to tackling him? To be honest Priest didn't look that impressive. He was solid, but he clearly didn't look like the elite back he has in years past. LJ clearly did.I find it funny when people comment that LJ went through gaping holes but fail to mention that the ONLY time Priest picked up any signifigant yards it was when nobody was within a snif of him. I saw LJ bowl over people, Priest didnt.
It's funny that people keep saying things are funny when they really aren't.P.S. Did you see that TD run of Priest's? Sure, it should have been ruled down at the 1, but I don't see Johnson gaining yardage in that situation, and I don't see how that classifies as Priest picking up significant yardage when "no one was within a snif [sic] of him."

I totally agree. I watched that game closly and LJ had a burst that priest didnt. There is no question who the better back is.
Dude I totally agree I was watching the Cleveland game did you see Frisman Jackson get that separation I think he's the #1 WR in all of football right now I really do and I think if you disagree with me it's clear that you just didn't watch that game.

Great point about Frisman -- the man is a beast. There would be very little hype surrounding LJ if only for Week 1. The current love affair with the guy has to do with the fact that EVERY time he has been given an opportunity (multiple games now), he has performed exceptionally well. Had he not peformed the way he did at the end of last season, there might be 2 or 3 threads rather than 25 on this subject. He has displayed the talent and abilities of a superior NFL running back in his 6+ regular season games played. Whether people want to attribute that success to his actual ability or the team's O-line doesn't matter at all...he continues to put up huge #'s and score TD's. As long as he plays in a KC uniform the #'s should continue to look great. If not, then he goes back to the bench in Week 3...plain and simple. But how can you leave this guy on your bench in Week 2 in a game which promises to be high scoring with many red zone opps? I've slowly become convinced (or call it brainwashed) throughout this week that his numbers may not drop off from last week's. So he's in over DD. I don't think its too much to risk.

Id wait till after the week to get LJ. He will really come back down to earth after last weeks ### whipping - Willie Roaf is going to sit this one out. My suggestion is to wait till Monday - Then make your play for LJ.

Yeah.

Plus, bumping your own thread about 10 times is just not cool.

I suppose if he goes off huge, you're going to advocate hurrying up and getting him "on the cheap" again, right?I don't think you really understand the concept of buying low. The trick is to buy a guy BEFORE he has a good game, not after.

Not completely true, he could probably be had for a Djax or Michael Clayton, no way that will be the case by week 7-8. Like the original poster said, LJ can still be had on the cheap right now, maybe not as cheap as he could have been had 2-3 weeks ago, but much cheaper than he will be in a few weeks when he is getting the majority of the carries.

I assure you, in every league that I own LJ (3, 2 are dynasty) both DJax AND Clayton together would get you a :lmao: response. For example, I gave up T.O. and the 1.08 for LJ and the 1.14 in a 20 team keeper league. No way Jackson or Clayton even makes me consider it.Colin

:goodposting: In fact I have Clayton and LJ in a league but if I didn't there is NO WAY I would trade LJ for Clayton. I think my point still stands.

Last time I've looked, only 5 RB has more Fantasy Points than LJ in my league. He's currently top 5 in standard leagues.

In a dynasty, i agree, i dont think anyone would, but in a redraft, if someone was thin at WR and deep at RB, i think alot of people would trade LJ for DJax.

I suppose if he goes off huge, you're going to advocate hurrying up and getting him "on the cheap" again, right?I don't think you really understand the concept of buying low. The trick is to buy a guy BEFORE he has a good game, not after.
Either you've got him now or you don't. Too late if you don't.
No way Jackson or Clayton even makes me consider it.Colin

i'm trying to aquire LJ in a 12 Refraft and the LJ owner wants Harrison. He's throwing in Braylon Edwards. Very tempted to pull the trigger. LJ could be huge this year.

But, agreed with prevous post. Obviously the LJ owner in this case would be laughig as well.... I still can't pull the trigger.

Hope you get him, especially since he's most likely a top 5 back so far in your league.

Fact-In one of my leagues I CAN get Harrison for LJ right now. Not about to as I need him until I feel comfortable about Parkers ongoing status. The point is, Stud WR's can be had for him.

I wouldn't give up a stud Wr for him.

 Some coming out party.....

I thought Sunday night was the "official" coming out party. What happens after Monday night when he still gets the same nine carries and Holmes continues to carry the load? Are you going to say "Wait until this Sunday"? It's laughable that you even keep responding to this thread when you have were :own3d: 3 pages ago. Give it up already.

he's getting carries starting the game
8 carries for 13 yards :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Better get him now.....

Give it a rest already.....
Question for you:After Week 3 who has the most fantasy points?

A. Larry Johnson

B. Priest Holmes

:bye: Night

Maybe this thread should be changed to last chance to get both LJ and Priest cheap because neither is worth a first round pick at this point.

I have LJ stashed away on the bench for the playoffs. he's sat there every game and will continue to sit there until priest goes down
