5 episodes in. Great season so far.
I love the development of Piper, and Soso really puts that on display.I'm on episode 3, picking up. The new little Asian has quite the body on her![]()
. Now she is a toughened criminal
They ugly her up. In real live, she is not badSo, Piper beats the living hell out Pennsatucky, yet the only damage done was to her teeth? Okay.![]()
Oh, and Taryn Manning is still ugly as ####, even with her normal teeth.
That kind of beating to the face would leave bruises, scars, etc. that would never totally heal right/go away. They ugly her up. In real live, she is not badSo, Piper beats the living hell out Pennsatucky, yet the only damage done was to her teeth? Okay.![]()

And it was over a month between the beating and when we saw her next. the bruises to the face would have healed
That doesn't come out of the prison's budget. They have insurance of some sort.<spoiler>
My problem with episode 2
You were going to pimp me out!then why did he use it as blackmail? That doesn't come out of the prison's budget. They have insurance of some sort.<spoiler>
My problem with episode 2
and Caputo's reaction
Yeah, they don't skimp on the lesbian sechs this season.Wife is watching this and holy cow it is almost pron level.
Brook has a tight little bodyYeah, they don't skimp on the lesbian sechs this season.Wife is watching this and holy cow it is almost pron level.
Yeah she's pretty terrifying. Great character. Two episodes to go. Spoiler speculation or hoping
I really hope Red convinces Boo to take out both Crazy Eyes and Vee. Esp. Vee, she is such an awful person
I was surprised at how little time elapsed during that season. The ugly pregnant chick is still hardly showing.Made it through all but the last episode over the weekend...
Good but not great. Certain aspects of the story are getting a bit convoluted. Doing a decent job of keeping "time" straight with all the jumping around they're doing.
I've still got another episode to go, but Piper said she's got another 8 months on her sentence, so only 7 months have passed from the pilot to the end of S2 (assuming no big time jump in the finale).I was surprised at how little time elapsed during that season. Actually, almost all of S2 probably took place in Feb/March. S1 ended around Christmas, then Piper spent 3-4 weeks in solitary. Valentine's Day was about mid-season and the final season arc involves a winter storm.
They could squeeze 2-3 more seasons in without having to extend Piper's sentence or move forward with the show after her release (though I kind of get the feeling they'd try the latter).

, but where is the continuity? Most of that stuff will be addressed. I think they wanted to focus on introducing new stories first, so it does seem a little out of whack. It works though I think. After four episodes, I am not sure what to think so far. I was amused by the pee hole storyline in Ep 4, but where is the continuity?
-Piper has been back for two episodes and no scene with Healey yet.
-The pregnant chick and the security guard having a baby together has barely been a factor. No mention of Porn Stache.
-Piper and Pennsatucky have had zero interaction since their fake hug. In fact, not that I like looking at her, but how has Pennsatucky been such a non-factor?
It's like they've put all of the stories that were hot at the end of last season on the backburner and introduced a whole bunch of less interesting ones. And not nearly enough focus on Piper. Season 1 had a great balance where the story always centered around her while we still got to know plenty of others, but now it's like she is just another inmate, as opposed to the main character. Strange.
Yeah, Season 3 will probably more about PiperFinished it up. I enjoyed S2 more or less as much as S1.
The Tucky/Boo scene in Ep 12 is great.
I know this isn't a very popular opinion, but I don't think it had quite enough Piper.
Fans and critics love the show because it tells the story of so many people that don't look like Piper.
Seems like a lot of the fans and critics seem to underrate and even dislike Piper because of this. Almost like fans of a band resenting the bands big commercial hits.
Problem is that Schilling is an amazing actress, and to me, Chapman is the most interesting and important character on the show. She's a worthy lead for a show that doesn't want to think of itself as having a blonde, white lead.
I'm pretty conflicted the whole Vee arc. She was a great character, and the more intense conflict was good for the show (probably necessary, really, as a show about prison was starting to feel too much like summer camp).
But I really thought it was a disservice to Taystee, Cindy, the track chick, and Suzanne. They seemed to turn them all into mindless zombies just to serve the plot.
I know I'm alone here, but I actually like the Polly/Larry thing.
Polly is a good character that's been underused. Putting them together immediately made both characters more interesting and gave them something to do.
The scenes that followed, were among the best of the season. Especially, the scene with Polly/Larry asking for Piper's blessing.
It gives some good scenes and gives them something to do. Good enough for me. It's not like a guy banging his ex's best friend is so far fetched. Espeically, if the ex is in prison and now munching her ex-GF's box

The similarities are certainly there. For the most part, it seems to take a lot of what did work on Weeds (which was significant, even if the show went downhill) and simply incorporate more interesting characters. Makes for a very good show and a lot better than Weeds, I think.Anybody else find themselves comparing this to weeds. Think it could last as many seasons?

Some great work in the finale from Beer Can Caputo.
The show departed from the book about half way through the first episode of the first season.First interview with the "real life Alex" http://www.vanityfair.com/vf-hollywood/orange-is-the-new-black-real-alex?mbid=social_twitter
They only spent 5 weeks in the same prison in Chicago waiting to testify (didn't have sex).
Piper was already an out lesbian when they met, shortly after Piper graduated college. They didn't start banging until after Piper had already gotten involved with the drug ring. Real life Alex didn't consider it a relationship, but Piper did.
Unless I'm remembering wrong S1 was all about Piper, whereas if you'd seen only S2 you'd swear this was a show about prison life in general and Piper was just a part of it. She wasn't even the main storyline (Vee vs. Red), and they spent a lot of time on the Rosa (unfunded cancer) storyline.pollardsvision said:The similarities are certainly there. 9 seasons of Orange could be a lot, but it's certainly possible. Kohan has said she could go on forever with this. That made a lot of people groan, but this show has the foundation to pull it off very well.
It'll be interesting to see if they could retain Schilling for that long. Unlike MLP, who was almost 40 when Weeds started and about 15 years removed from her most famous role, you'd think Schilling would be looking to turn this role into a springboard for bigger things.
Though, I think the best roles for women (not named Scarlett Johanson or Jennifer Lawrence) are largely in TV instead of movies, so who knows.

Was wondering if they were steering this in to a show about prison itself with revolving characters rather than squeezing everything they can out of the Piper storyline and then calling it a series. I think there's a lot of potential here.
