Is it too early in his career to label him injury prone ???????
ehm.....Is it too early in his career to label him injury prone ???????For his wife giving birth?
It's like labelling someone a "guy doesn't show up to work because he doesn't care" because he goes to family funerals.
Obviously you didn't watch the Sunday Night game then??Is it too early in his career to label him injury prone ???????For his wife giving birth? It's like labelling someone a "guy doesn't show up to work because he doesn't care" because he goes to family funerals.
Nope, DVR'ed it all to watch later. I guess he is injury prone. I thought this was related to the birth thing - hence my confusion -Finatic said:Obviously you didn't watch the Sunday Night game then??Is it too early in his career to label him injury prone ???????For his wife giving birth? It's like labelling someone a "guy doesn't show up to work because he doesn't care" because he goes to family funerals.
I grabbed him in a few leagues already because I love the guy and Strahan as a question mark. People talk about him here the way they talked about Osi before he broke out. He's a tough guy and plays strong at the point of attack and gets some good pressure (plays some DT as well previously given the talent at DE).As long as Tuck is in the starting lineup, I think he's going to put up good stats. With Strahan not being 100% and Tuck prolly being on the field a ton more how much would this bump up Tuck?
SIRIUS NFL Radio just reported that Osi is day to day....?Not sure who's right here, but as with all my posts, "you'll know what I know."OUT 2 MONTHS
The Newark Star-Ledger reports Giants DE Osi Umenyiora will miss two months with a knee injury.
The Giants have only called the injury "a knee," without labeling it a sprain or ligament tear, but Umenyiora is believed to have torn his MCL. The Giants went 2-4 with Osi out of the lineup in 2006. Michael Strahan will likely now start full time at left defensive end, with Justin Tuck kicking to the right side.
you gotta be kidding..........![]()

Injury Update: Here are the results of this afternoon's MRIs on quarterback Eli Manning, defensive end Osi Umenyiora and running back Brandon Jacobs. Manning has a contusion to the right A-C joint. His status is day to day for this week's game against Green Bay. Umenyiora has an irritation to the lateral meniscus of his left knee. His status is also day to day and he will be re-evaluated later in the week. Jacobs sprained the MCL of his right knee. He will be evaluated on a week to week basis. The results of the MRI on cornerback Kevin Dockery's ankle were not available as of 5 p.m. today.
thanks for the insight.William Joseph moved to IR as well today. It's possible Kiwi gets moved - Torbor is actually a pretty talented guy, and before Joseph went down I might have said he plays more at DE as he had in the past. Even if Kiwi doesn't move totally, he may shift to DE on passing downs with Tuck moving inside (assuming Strahan stays healthy). I still think Tuck is the big bump here and gets/stays in a starting role regardless.
Play? Or just have him active? What about a pregame setback?Osi is now probable on the injury list, which is significant. He did practice today. As I understand the new rules, the Giants could be at risk if they don't play him now with the new categorization rules for the NFL Injury Report this year.
Jeff, do you know where to find the specific changes to the NFL injury report? I googled but couldn't find them. Something similar was said in another thread, but I was under the impression that the big change was just the "participation in practice" piece. I didn't hear anything about the probable/questionable/doubtful stuff changing, and under the past rules probably meant 75% chance he plays - which obviously means 25% chance he doesn't. How can they get in trouble for that?Osi is now probable on the injury list, which is significant. He did practice today. As I understand the new rules, the Giants could be at risk if they don't play him now with the new categorization rules for the NFL Injury Report this year.
I struggled with a search as well.I did find this which does jive with what I remembered:Jeff, do you know where to find the specific changes to the NFL injury report? NFL CHANGES INJURY REPORTING
The revised NFL media policy, mentioned below, also contains significant
changes to the procedure for reporting injuries.
The league will now require teams to include in their Wednesday, Thursday,
and Friday disclosures identification of whether the player did not
participate in practice, had limited participation in practice, or fully
participated in practice.
This disclosure will be in addition to the categories of "out," "doubtful,"
"questionable," and "probable."
And because "probable" means that there is a virtual certainty that the
player will be available for normal duty, the failure of a player who is
listed as probable to play on Sunday will be regarded as a violation of the
revised policy.
Though we generally agree with any effort to force the teams to be more
forthcoming regarding injuries, the league still needs (we believe) to add a
category that falls somewhere between 50-50 and "virtual certainty." Or
they need to change the term "probable" so that the casual fan will realize
that it really means "virtual certainty" or, under the new policy, "actual
certainty unless the team wants to get a knee to the groin from the league
office."
And that's really the message here. Any player listed as "probable" is
actually "certain." So every player with any type of nick or ding or bruise
or boo-boo should be listed.
