Just when you thought all was lost.

FULL SPUD IS GO, BRITCHES

Honestly this will be like cheating. I'll race past you ####ers now. Mrs. O said she is on board for full spud. And if she does it, it'll be downright easy for me to stick to it.

Watch the weight fly off, ladies. Who's got two thumbs and a budding six pack?

THIS GUY
Time to pour a glass of red wine.

Welcome back oats.   Whipped up a batch of turkey chili today and just put down a nuked potato with a few scoops of that.  Very tasty, easy and between 100 and 150 calories.

PRGK, you game or what?  Let's do this.
In like Flynn. Let's toast these guys grinding away at their petty 2.5 lbs per week (in all seriousness, I wish you all the best of continued good fortune, but I'm winning this thing) glad to have you back, potatOtis

What could go wrong?

I already have one with him that I feel good about. Though he did sandbag the #### out of his first weigh in.
I don't blame you for feeling confident on your bet. I'm looking for a little competitive mojo to give me extra motivation. I feel confident I can drop 25 lbs by the deadline April 1, any more than that would be pushing the limits of what is possible. That won't be enough to win this contest, but it will be a good start.

I think I've had a combined 1 or 2 potatoes in 7 weeks.  Otis, try this instead:  no sugar, no alcohol, no bread, no rice, no flour, no potatoes, nothing processed, Just do this for 7-10 days and get back to me.

If your haven't died fro boredom after limiting yourself like that.  And we've seen evidence of the ravages that diet can do to your feet.  (shudder)

No potatoes sounds like the opposite of winning.

Not bored at all - made some killer chicken wings in the deep fryer Sunday.  I'm finding that there's a lot more options than you would think.  I already loved vegetables and fruit - not eating a lot of fruit but some for the occasional sweet treat.  Honestly, just eliminating soda and booze/beer has been one of the biggest factors.  I think after 7 weeks I can say that I don't crave soda at all.

What grown man still drinks regular soda?  Now if you're talking about Coke Zero, #### that noise, I'm never giving that up.

25lbs in 38 days?

I know some people hate on fruit for the sugars, but if you're eating actual fruit - not like processed fruit juice or garbage like that - you could be doing a lot worse.

Yes, I think it's doable. Do-able. That looks wrong.

I'd be able to do it.
You'll need to be at a 2300 daily calorie deficit to do this.  Given a 2500-2800 base burn your talking 200-500 cal a day that you can consume (plus any exercise).

I don't think that's the case. There's more to weight regulation than "calories in-calories out", IMO. Not just water weight, either. I think there's other pathways for metabolizing fat in people, especially obese people. And I think that trumps the TDEE - caloric intake.

im going to try it, anyway. Yesterday I did spuds, but added tomato sauce and Parmesan cheese. Today, I'm going to start nothing but spuds, water and black coffee until the deadline. No exercise, except increasing my NEAT activities (high five Chaka) and I think I can hit 25 lbs. by the deadline. No bets, I just want to see how far I can go, completely eliminating everything but potatoes.

Please share before and after pics of your feet.  TIA

Don't decide too quickly

I have my doubts.  If this was the case we wouldn't need gas or batteries to propel vehicles.

Yeah, me too. But to continue your analogy, think of efficiency. An old V8 engine might only be able to utilize 30% of the total energy of a given amount of gas. A hydrogen fuel cell engine could be 70% efficient at using its available energy. I think there are more factors than just calories out minus calories in. That's definitely a big part of it, but there's something magical about potatoes. Different metabolic pathways, or optimizing some lipolysis enzyme. Something.

Don't disagree - but I think 3 bananas a day isn't ideal.  Generally my current rule is more natural food but I'm definitely eliminating as much sugar as possible

No he doesn't - you keep saying this but as Maurile and Culdeus has said, it's more complicated than that.  I'm not as big as him and I was pretty close to doing that (I'd need to check to confirm)

unpossible.  i've tried to tell him.

Sadly, it almost is. Fruit has been so hybridized and mutated, it bears little resemblance (esp. in sucrose content) to fruit from a century or two ago.

@Sand

247.2

Bit of a backslide week.  Been sick since Sunday and haven't worked out.  Loaded back up on water weight.  Currently sitting at 150 cal on the day with an 800 cal dinner lined up so I'm doing well food wise.  In reality I was down two pounds over last week's morning weigh in and would have likely weighed in in the 244s if I'd been able to work out today.  I started with a night weigh-in so Woz is requiring that I maintain that schedule for our bet.  Need to shake this funk as the Black Mountain Marathon is this Saturday.  That should be good for a bonus pound lost this week.
