Otis fad diet thread — yoga, fasting, and kevzilla walking on🚶‍♂️ (3 Viewers)

MAN - I need to be more vigilante with myfitnesspal and tracking my food.   I have been doing light workouts 3 to 4 days a week.   And I have not been eating that terrible (drinking only coffee, water and unsweetened tea)  very few "snacks" if at all but am not losing anything.   I'll eventually start upping my workouts but I have a ton of "ailments"  from old injuries so I'm trying to be smart.   So a little frustrated.   I know I'll lose it eventually.  I reached this weight once before and lost it all.   Just my .02 on my current fatness

Anyway - the weight is not moving.   One thing I started doing is tracking my steps but not during workouts.  I need to move more during the day.  last 2 days have only been an average of 4800 steps.

I struggled yesterday.  Just hungry all day.  I picked a bit here and there.  I stayed with Keto friendly foods but just could not get satiated.

Me too.  I have been stuck between 195 and 200 for about 3 months.  I keep telling myself that it's a lifestyle change and all that.  But dammit I want to lose another 30 lbs.

I think being mid 40's compared to mid 30's when I hit this weight before doen't help.   After college was over i was a superfit 180 pounds.  Now when I get to 180 it won't be the same for sure

This morning's weigh-in puts me down over 10lbs.  I'll take it

I'm only 12lbs above my recent low of last year.  :flex:

Now, the challenge part.  I leave Saturday for work, to spend two weeks in a hotel doing nothing but working and eating big catered meals all day long.  It's like a movie set.  The question is whether I can sustain over these two weeks.  Usually I go away for these things and put on 10lbs while I'm there.

On the bright side, with no million kids in tow, no excuse for me not to hit the gym, even just for 15 mins of cardio and 15 of weights most days.  A little exercise will be nice.  But we all know the working out has nothing to do with the results here; it's all about the eating habits.  So, fingers crossed that I can piece it together this time.  I think the key will be to find some kind of routine, and always seek out the healthy stuff when the food rolls out.
Otis, you should feel pretty good about yourself. You've lost 10 lbs. And more importantly, you've motivated a bunch of fat ####s (myself included)  to lose a tremendous amount of weight. I'm not sure I would have been able to do it without this thread. You should be very proud of this. And I'm sure that the rest the fat asses in here feel the same way. Re-motivate yourself while your on your trip and revisit this afterward. You could lose another 10 lbs when you get back. #StayStrong

Otis is drinking wine, binging on Oreos, and not exercising while I carefully navigate my way to 1500 calories a day and attending boot camp classes 4 days a week. Yet Otis lost 10 lbs to my 7. :wall:

Another 30 lbs?  What, are you like 5'2"?
I'm 5'11", and I weighed 250 at my heaviest. I'm at 200-205 right now. I want to get to 185-190. But I've been at 170 before (in my 30's), and it was fantastic. Essentially ran marathons/triathlons and starved myself to get there, but it was great.

I'm 5'10" and I got down to 170 two years ago - still had a pretty small beer belly.  I think my ideal would be to drop down to 160 and then add 10 lbs of muscle to be around 170.

170 at 5'11" would be very nice.   I'm 6'5" and I'm targeting 195.

5'7 and a half!

Damn... I must just have a different body type.  I'm 6' 0" and got down to 182 a couple years ago... looked Ethiopian.  Although I will admit I felt great.  Wife did not like the waif I had become.

Sounds like we have similar body types. Same height. Your high and your most fit/low match mine exactly. How'd you get down from 250 to 200ish and maintain? Because I'll be honest, I would be totally content getting to and stating at 200 the rest of my days.

hoping to "maintain, not gain" this week.  Been a rough one
:goodposting:

At work yesterday and buddy texts me wanting to meet for drinks... he's an extremely talented young videographer/editor who has recently left his gig and is out on his own. Meet up and he discusses wanting to form a partnership. 1 beer turns into 3. Then I get home late, cook dinner for the GF and I. Settle in for a movie (Hacksaw ridge) and halfway in I get a call from one of my best buddies wanting to meet for a beer as his woman just punted him out of the house saying stuff like "This is just comfortable" and "I need space". He comes over and we commiserate over beers about crazy #####es for 3-4 hours.

All right. Coffee and a kind bar for breakfast. Wife already indicated she's making a healthy dinner. Just gotta keep lunch clean (I really need to start being a lunch). Will hopefully just grab a salad from the local delicatessen. Time to get fully back on the horse.

Baby steps past my assistant's candy dish... baby steps by the pizza place for lunch....

I was at my heaviest in high school and beginning of college. I worked in a warehouse over the summer, and there was no air-conditioning. Next thing I know, I weigh 210-215 lbs. I really started to exercise and do weight training at that point. I also started to eat better. Got a girlfriend too.

In my late 20's-30's, I started running/biking/triathlons. Ran several marathons, century rides, and olympic tris. The pounds melted off during this time.

Got married and had kids. I've been up and down since. But whenever I get to 200+, I really start to get disgusted with the way I look and feel. And I can also tell that my wife is not as sexually attracted to me like she used to be. I'm still in decent shape. I can run many miles, and I'm physically pretty strong. But I eat poorly, and I don't exercise as much... and voila... I'm a fat a$$.

This thread has rewired my brain... if only temporarily. I am feeling better than I have in a couple of years. Looking forward to getting back down to my wedding weight of 185.

You have got to be retaining water.  You'll see a 5 pound drop very soon.  You're also probably adding muscle which is offsetting fat loss.  Stay the course.

Hey, we stuck with lite domenstic beers and stayed out of the whiskey so i feel like it was a win.
Each to their own and I love a beer or ten or a bottle of wine as much as the next guy.  That said, most everyone I knew as a kid who was one of those 2-3 drink a night "social / relaxation" drinker is either dead or has serious health issues.  Sucks that everything that is good in life is bad for you (alcohol, sugar, red meat, etc) and freaking carrots and kale are good for you.

Thanks Debbie

There's always weed.   Good luck with the munchies though.

Does anyone have an awesome guacamole recipe to share?

I've been making it frequently, and while I'm moderately pleased, I feel it is somewhat lacking something.

- Avocados

- Tomato

- Jalapeno

- Fresh squeezed lime

- Salt

- Cilantro

What am I missing?

Fresh pressed garlic. Not the stuff from a jar. Doesnt take much (1 decent sized clove), but makes a big difference in taste. I like lots of salt too  :scared:

I've debated garlic, I don't understand how that improves the taste of guacamole though.
Raw garlic is a very bold flavor. Everyone has their own tastes, so it may not be what you're missing, but for me, its a key ingredient. Like, if I was only allowed to use 4 ingredients to make guac, it would be Avacado, Lime, Salt, Garlic in that order.

I hear ya. I binge on occasion but pretty rarely drink during the week. Usually I'd say I average one night a week.. maybe two. Prob still too much but I'm definitely NOT that guy who has a drink or four every night as part of my routine.

I'm down 10 pounds since the end of December after my doctor sent me home with a cpap machine and I said no ####### way am I going to bed for the rest of my life breathing like Darth Vader after a horrible first night with it.

I'm a believer in counting calories and making diet decisions I can stick with over fad diets.  Lowering portions, no longer drinking calories, lots of beef jerky, etc.  That's always worked for me.

Breakfast: Oven baked potatoes and a banana

Lunch: Romaine with lemon, celery, peppers, 4 hard boiled eggs, apple, plenty of water.

Holding strong...  On Monday, my company brought in lunch for our team: Local pizza and wings and sub trays, also a cookie tray.  Didn't hit it up for anything.  Smelled good though.

B: 3 HB Eggs
S: Honeycrisp Apple
L: Leftover SHrimp & Chicken Creole
S: Greek Yogurt
D: Rotisserie chicken breast on salad w/ Roasted Asparagus on the side.

I fall in this boat too.I fall in this boat too.

I cut down my drinking drastically from the holidays.  I had popped up to my all time high in weight.  Just that simple change since about Jan 1 and my aria says I've cut 3% of my BF off and 4% of total weight.  I think alot of that is probably just water retention from the booze, but I'm willing to pretend it's something else.

Going to start up weight gainer shakes now trying to add an additional 800-1200 cals.  It's bulking season bro.

The only things in my guacamole:

Fork smashed avocados, diced white onion, diced tomatoes (no seeds), salt, pepper. I think it is easy to ruin guac by covering the flavor of the avocados with cilantro, lime, sriracha, garlic, etc. Keep it simple and enjoy the flavor of the avocado.

I like red peppers in my guac...either roasted or raw.

1500 cals?  Pff.  Need to stay below 1k my brother.  That's the way the bosses do it.

Why does James hate Gary?
Gary is a anti-thermo. James is the biggest thermo guy in here.  Or at least the most active.

I'm not on board with the insulin theory that Gary has. So James and I share some common ground here but not for the same reasons.
