All my old spots injuries are just catching up to me. I have more trouble taking off weight but part of that is the limitations.

Back, knee, shoulder, hands and fingers.

Every part I broke years ago just hurts half the time.

Even stretching is a chore 😂 some days.

But overall I don't feel old just out of shape so to speak

51 here. Have always been pretty healthy and in good shape.
Back is starting to hurt. Tried to run with my 3 year old lab the other day and it literally felt like my knees were bone on bone. Jarring.
Cuts, etc. don't heal nearly as fast as they used to.

My daughters tell me to stretch more and I've already seen it mentioned here a few times. Guess there is some validity to it.

If you haven’t abandoned social media yet, do it. My mood is so much better. It could just be me but I get stressed when people openly talk about hating half the country. My productivity is much higher as well.
60 here..good posting....#shakesfistatcloud

this. (other than not feeling old).

and while I used to be able to bounce back into fitness routines with ease (and work), I'm at a point where my old injuries get in the way and the bouce-back is sooooo far away.

oh damn... the worst thing- and I remember my dad saying the same thing around my current age- I still have a mental image of what I look like... until I see pictures of myself over the last year or so. and then it's just this random balding old fat dude there instead.
Same.. I think of it like The Matrix...

"it is the mental projection of your digital self"

Another old guy should have warned you around 40ish that you should start making the switch from running to biking by 50ish.

Play from the white tees and look forward to when you GET to move up from there.

Everything takes longer to heal - discretion is the better part of valor AND aging.

Be kind to "kids these days". They only seem dumb because they are. So we're you at that age.

Otherwise it's the same as it ever was:
The Lord loves a working man
Don't trust Whitey
See a doctor and get rid of it

I've never been a runner. Though these legs have a lot of miles on them between soccer, pickup basketball, football, etc.

My lab was feeling a little feisty and I thought "maybe I'll jog with him". Ugh. Felt every step. He loved it though.

Hah - I’m going the other way. Joined friends from the whites and am started to get used to it. Then we have 2 dudes, 80 and 83, who compete from the blues. They weren’t scratch or college players. Just kept in shape and still have swing speed. They are my inspiration.

I have a buddy whose Dad is 87 and regularly shoots his age. That guy is a stud and certainly has set the bar for me.

Yeah, I have an ex-gf from high school whose grandfather only had one arm. He played golf into his late 80s and still shot in the high 80s/low 90s. With one arm. Insane.

I agree stretching is the key. Still golf once per week and softball 2x a week and stretching is key. Get a good foam roller and I also have one of those Theragun massage guns. I have a whole 20 plus minute routine before I play and knock on wood haven't had an injury issues. My hip flexors and hamstring are ridiculous tight and without doing thing I guaranty I'd have pulled a hammy by now.

We can't enjoy a beer now and again? That sucks.
I've moved on to whiskey and/or rye. Two of those, about 4 fingers deep (as opposed to 10 beers) gets you just about right with the world.

I've pretty much cut hard liquor out entirely save for an occasional cocktail at a restaurant or a nip of good brown water if somebody offers. But I do like my IPAs.
I have a self diagnosed addictive personality. As a life long beer drinker not only for sport but as a professional in college, the mantra was always you drink until there are none left. Learning how to social drink in the business world was a bit of a challenge when you're 5 deep and the compatriots are still sipping their first. The brown water has acted like a governor for me, sip one or two through the business dinner augmenting with water and you're gold.

Just stick with Guinness. It’s more medicine than drink. Cures all kinds of ailments, mental and physical. A few weeks back I had a badly strained right shoulder and could barely move my arm. After seven Guinness I was doing air guitar windmills to The Who like it was 2009 all over again. Let me know if you need a prescription.

My kind of doctor.

Oddly enough if I am drinking beer Guinness is typically my go to. Now that it comes doctor recommended, who am I to question it's medicinal qualities?

Turning 49 This summer. I’m healthy, fit, but not flexible AT ALL. I drink more than I should, the doc says my numbers are good, and <14% BF, BMI > 25, but I’d be healthier without the booze.

Do something active EVERY DAY. It doesn’t need to be a marathon, but 20+ minutes of walking helps.

Strength and stretch will become my priorities after November (iron man Florida), until then stretching is all about injury prevention.

I ride with a few 60+ year olds weekly. They’re starting to feel their age, much of which could have been mitigated by stretching better when younger. So I’m taking that to heart.

The biggest area I need to work on is sleeping better. So I’m getting a consult for the inspire device later this year - CPAP has sucked.

It’s very easy for your social circles to diminish at this age, especially as your kids age out of sports and/or school activities. We had a big adjustment when our kids both went off to college since a majority of our prior social life was with other families involved in the kids activities.

I’ve found you need to be a little more proactive in keeping those personal connections, which can be harder if you’re an introvert. I’m still trying to figure this one out.

Find something you like doing, preferably something active, find a meet-up group, and do it. And try to make friends 1-2 decades younger than you.

I did this with hiking, then climbing. Shoulda done it with cycling too. Anyway, the activity is good for you regardless, and it’s refreshing to step away from middle aged talk like property taxes/investing/retiring/etc.

Also, group trips with established friends are great, but you have to be willing to prod a little.

I've embraced my inner Kenny Powers and have, for the most part, embraced the sleeveless shirts during the summer.
Two of the three kids have moved out and bought their own houses (pretty proud of this, both are under 26 and not married so this was a big step).
I've turned into a bourbon guy. Still don't know how that happened.
Still have the same friend group 30 years later despite several of us moving a few states away. We still get together for a drunken blow out twice a year.
