Had a draft last night and of course the side bets start flying. This is one I couldn't resist. What's the consensus on Tiki's total TD's this year?

Guess I set the number perfectly. For the record I took the over. Giants O will be better this year allowing better running lanes for Tiki to gash through. He should be able to break off 4 or 5 long TD runs while catching 2 or 3 from Eli. Add in a couple of medium range scores from inside the 10 and He gets 10 or 11 TD's. Jacobs will vulture the 1 and 2 yard scores but Tiki's explosiveness will assure an "over" performance this year barring injury.

I have Tiki in 2 leagues despite projecting 6 TDs due to Jacobs' presence. Tiki already at 3 TDs. Looking good for 8 or more despite Jacobs.

I voted 8 back when this thread was posted. I'm now beginning to think he might exceed that....

Three. Jacobs is every bit the vulture as advertised.
:lmao: Time to take your medicine already? Jacobs only got in the game at the 1 yard line last night. Any further than that and Coughlin kept Tiki in, which led to one of his TDs. Tiki was in the game and getting carries at the 3 yard line.

He ISN'T every bit the vulture as advertised. At least not yet.

Jacobs has two TD's inside the five, Barber has zero. I have been 100% dead on accurate in my assessment of the situation involving Tiki this season. His TD's may be a little higher than three, but not by much. They certainly won't hit eight, either.

Here is my total spotlight on Barber

1) Last season 10 of Tiki's 15 TD's were scored inside the five yard line. Coughlin has stated that he will give those opportunities to Jacobs this year. Last season was an anomaly in that regard for Coughlin because Dayne fell apart and ruined Coughlin's plans for him. Coughlin was notorious for using red zone specialists in Jax, so it should surprise nobody that he specifically drafted a guy just to score TD's and convert 3rd and short. 2) Barber accounted for 42% of the Giants total offense in 2004, this number can go nowhere but down in 2005. This coming season we will see an erosion of dump offs to Tiki and an increase in targets to Shockey and jump balls to Burress. Coughlin wants a much more diversified offense this season instead of just riding one guy.

3) Tiki's involvement in the passing game when Eli became the QB were drastically reduced. In Warner's nine starts, Barber had 463 yards receiving compared to Manning's seven starts where he only managed 115 yards.

4) Tiki has been in the league eight seasons. He has been a Top 10 FF RB twice, Top 5 only once (last season). He has never been a Top Ten FF RB two consecutive years and the past five seasons have seen a large variance in his production. He pretty much defines the "every other year" player.

5) Giant WR's had one TD catch in 2004....one! The addition of Burress gives a nice new target for the red zone, so it is safe to assume that WR TD's will increase in 2005 and eat into Tiki's totals from last season.

Assuming he stays healthy as he hits the dreaded "RB at 30 years-old" barrier, Barber still can be a decent to good yardage guy. However, anyone drafting him as an RB1 will see their FF season end at that exact moment.

Projection

268 carries 1121 yards 4.2 avg. 2 TD

45 recept 361 yards 1 TD

Right now Barber is on pace for 280 carries 1160 yards, and only 24 receptions.

(He has the two TD's rushing and one receiving that I projected, so I nailed that, too. :excited: )

Seriously, everything I said in the pre-season is true.

1) He has been removed at the goal line and has lost two TD's already

2) Barber is not getting the workload he did last year, with Shockey & Burress accounting for a large chunk of NYG offense

3) His receiving numbers are drastically reduced with Eli

4) To be determined where he'll end up ranking at the end of the season

5) Burress already has a TD catch and is targeted a lot in the red zone

Don't get too worked up over the early TD's people, they'll be much harder to come by from here on out.

Bump

0 TD's and only one catch for Tiki in Week 3

It's week 3 dude. One more TD from Tiki and this thread can die...
Hows that, the O/U was set at 8 not 4.
HK said Tiki won't get more than 2 TDs this year.
I'm sorry I didn't know the whole thread was about a personal debate between HK and WarRedbirds? I thought it was about the O/U on Tiki's TDs for the year being set at 8.
It's obvious the title is in code.

6 games left and he only needs 3 to hit the over... page H.K. there's some crow cookin for him
It's worse than that. The Giants have 7 games left, and he only needs 2. He has 6 rushing and 1 receiving TD thus far in 9 games.

 1) Jacobs has vultured five TD's already, meaning Tiki won't score again this season so he sure won't get 8, let alone double digits2) Barber is only on pace to catch 42 passes, that's three below my modest projection for him3) :finger:

I could have sworn I posted on this thread & explained why I took the under, since I was pimping Jacobs as cutting into Tiki's time by the count of about 100 touches over the course of the season. That was a good projection... ...only 73 more to go... :hophead:

Dude, you were owned in this thread. Take your medicine like a man. TIA

10+ quarters and counting since Tiki's last TD.....he's still stuck on seven, just like he will be at the end of the year.

Problem is you had him at 3 TDs.
I ignored him LONG ago when I realized that he was just going to do some "I'm going to slam Tiki Barber any second I get the chance because the other 99% of the time I look silly" shtick.

H.K. officially :own3d: ??
 There won't be a Tiki owner alive in the playoffs after next week. He always folds when the games matter most. The most critical part of the season is here and he's about to disappear. Enjoy your early playoff exit, Barber owners.

Dude you are lost.. I swear eat your crow and be done with it.. He has over 1700 yards and 8TD's.. In 3 of my real leagues I have him on 2 and he will get me a bye week in both.. This past week in one league and next week in the other. Just face it you were wrong.. I bet you that there are more Barber owners in the playoffs then Holmes owners or any other number of bust RB's. Yet Tiki continues to produce.. :banned:

I'll eat my crow.Tiki deserves MVP consideration. A mediocre D & a 2nd year QB, and the Giants are looking at winning their division & possibly having a 1st round bye? They've put the load squarely on the back of tyhe little guy & he's responded like a champion.Amazing at his age & size that he produces like this. I had Jacobs gobbling up a lot more touches by now just because of those two factors.

Where does he currently rank in your scoring system, since you were adamant about my having made a mistake drafting him at #23 overall?

What's the record for how many times a person has been oWned in one thread?

I think he gets :own3d: every time Tiki scores a TD. Oh, so much for the "disappearing for the fantasy playoffs" attempt too.
