Owen Daniels appreciation thread (1 Viewer)

I'm offically in love with the dude!! I had Scheffler and when he got hurt, some guy in my league dropped Daniels the same week and I swooped in and snatched him up! I'm keeping him plugged in for the duration.

I took a gamble and traded Gonzo for Daniels yesterday! Ballsie I know but I'm stoked now :goodposting: Stll have Shocky as a backup but may have to drop him due to roster spot limits with a kicker bye coming up.

Drafted him in the 14th round of a redraft. Wish I could have saved one of his TD's for another week, but I'll take whatever he's giving me. I'm thinking he's only got 3-4 TD's left in him for the season if we're lucky...at least history says he's not going to score many more, right?

Perhaps the best part of owning Daniels is I haven't needed another TE on my roster starting in week 3.

He seems to always get 5+ catches a game which is all you can ask for out of a TE. Good stuff! :goodposting:

Thats silly to say he only got 3 more TD'sHe has been getting 5 catches a game, no reason that number wont get larger and his red zone looks increase as well with Slaton taking a couple more men to guard the box

Not trying to hate...just trying to be realistic. I hope he gets 10+ TD's this year! What has past history told us about TE's? Should we be expecting 10+ TD's from him? 6 games and 2 TD's averages out to 5.33 TD's over 16 games (one TD every 3 games).

I'm just going to continue my low expectations so he can exceed them! :)

It's nice to have a guaranteed 5+ points from TE every week. You don't get that with many others. Having a consistent TE, K, and DEF is probably the most underrated part of building a successful fantasy team.

Ditto. I know the Texans suck, But, I have AJ, Slaton & Daniels on my roster and am quite happy :lmao:

I've been driving the Owen Daniels bandwagon for a long time now. Last year, he was my TE2 in every single league (6 total), except for one- in that one, I got him as my TE3. This year, I figured the word would be out on him by now and I wouldn't wind up with him all the time... but it was not to be, as I still have him in 60% of my leagues. Normally I prefer to diversify my player pool a bit more, but... what can I say, no one else was willing to pick him where he deserved to be picked.

Regardless, I while he's a monster between the 20s, I think it's a little optimistic to talk about top-2 or top-3 upside from Daniels. I think the TDs are going to continue to be few and far between. Remember, this is the Lions secondary we're talking about here. Their ineptitude is approaching historic levels.

This was a RARE time in FF where my patience was rewarded.

To be honest, I might have pulled the trigger sooner on Daniels if this season had not been so bad for Tight Ends in general.

Very glad I didnt. With Brees screwing the pooch at Carolina, I needed to "O-D" my points with help from the big fella in Houston.

I benched Gates for him this week - just had a hunch. Of course I also started the Texans D and benched the Packers and started Cotchery over Calvin. :goodposting:

Thank you for a little bit of feelgood Owen!

I had Cooley and Daniels in one dynasty and traded Cooley for J Stewart + a future pick before last week's games and am planning to roll with Daniels from here on out. So far so good...

the fact that he has already had his bye week has increased his value tremendously for me.....the ability to use the other roster spot somewhere else where I may have normally had to stash a second TE has been very helpful....

 I have been using him as my only TE as well

It seems some people were definitely 'in the know' about this guy and targeted him a bunch. I have him in one dynasty and 3 redrafts. He's solid, especially in PPR. The TDs this week were very nice....

I'm the only guy in my league who closely follows the Texans, so I was ecstatic when I was able to snag him in the tenth round, well after the other big name TEs had been taken. Guys like Crumpler, Davis, and even Todd Heap were taken before Daniels. In fact, the only startable TE taken after Daniels in my draft was Greg Olsen.

Daniels is a rock at his position. I love me some OD!!

I too have been a big fan of Owen Daniels and it's good to see him finally reaching pay dirt with some end zone grabs. If he even reaches three more TDs to give him five, he should be a lock for the top 4 TEs. If he can reach 130-135 points, it should be enough for top 3 based on this year's TE numbers. He is currently on pace for 130 FP.

There's nowhere near enough "It was the Detroit Lions" in here.
Granted, the TDs may have been a product of the Lions this week, but he has not played the Lions every week to give him top 5 TE numbers thus far. Do I expect those numbers every week? No, but I think I can expect top 7 TE numbers this year, which to me, makes my other TE expendable.

Fortunate enough to have both in one league, made the right choice today...never thought I would bench Witten.
Ditto. I picked up OD a couple of weeks back as he was amazingly waived at that time. I was thinking ahead to the Witten bye week but decided to pull the trigger today due to the rib injury. I guess this offset my starting Avery over C. Johnson in one of my WR slots... :banned:

Followed his best performance of the year with one of his worst. Didn't see the game, but what was the biggest reason for his lack of numbers? The Ravens D, opportunities, bad play by Sage/Daniels, etc?

Mostly Sage and the D. Early on, he was targeted at the goalline but Ray Lewis pulled at him and got called for PI. The next play, Sage threw his way but it was an awful toss and was picked. Just one of those games.

That was a huge interception by Ngata. Obviously it had a big effect on the outcome of the game, but his fingertip play also caused me to lose. I started both Sage and Daniels, so that was a fifteen point swing in one pass play. OD was wide open in the end zone. Sage you jackazz, throw it over the linemen.

I loved the ride through a couple of weeks ago, but I'm going to have to put Daniels on the bench next week after two straight stinkers.

Eh, I watched the game and I'm not worried about OD. He was *this close* to a TD on his 14-yd reception. It took a shoestring tackle to trip him up.

Shanahak refused to throw the ball today and put the game in Slaton's hands.

Is Daniels worthless now with Sage?

My rock solid TE is becoming unstartable.

Schaub out until week 16 or 17, or for the year.

Anyone benching him this week, or are you giving him one more shot against the Brownies? My alternatives are pretty much WW fodder.

Benching him for Scaife.

I traded for Daniels mid-season and he got me 2 great games. Bah, I thought I had that position covered. Hopefully Shaub makes it back for the finals.....

Definitely rolling with OD this week.

Lack of options means I'll probably have to stick with him this week, but 21 yards or less in 3 of the last 4 games has me really worried going into a must-win fantasy battle.

Once catch each of the last two weeks is scaring me. I may drop my backup QB and pick up Watson, Heath Miller, Zach Miller, or J Stevens and play them this week until I see Daniels get back on track. Problem is of those 4 tight ends what are the odds of me picking the right one? If Daniels gets back on track I’d be kicking myself for heading into the home stretch without a solid QB2. Tough call.

I picked up Z Miller to give myself an option this week. Will probably spend the next few days switching the two in and out of my lineup.

I won the auction for Keller this week, but I'll probably still start Daniels vs. Cleveland over Keller vs. Tennessee this week. I just wanted to make sure I had options for the rest of the way...

Did the same thing and am unsure who I'll start. Anyone benching Daniels for someone else? If so, whom?

Not that anyone cares about my team, but an update for other owners. Heath and Zach were picked up in my league. Watson and J Stevens are still available. I'm going to hold tight on Daniels and give him one more week to right the ship. If he has another stinker then that will mean three in a row and thus cause for panic. Good luck to all the Daniels owners. This owner's keeping the faith for one more week.

I did the same for insurance going into the playoffs. I hope one of these guys pans out.

I holding steady also. Even though Sage stinks, he was apart of the 133 yard game OD had against the against the Viks a few week back. He's also had some really bad matchups with facing the Colts and Ravens pass D. If he drops a deuce this week, I'm going after Greg Olsen.
