Owens Press Conference Update (1 Viewer)

According to the Eagles MB, Philly sports talk host Howard Eskin is reporting 2 torn ligaments. TO will miss one playoff game, maybe 2.http://eagles.hosttown.com/index.php?showtopic=216620
Without Owens, they might not make it to 2 playoff games. The NFC is definitely weak, but without their biggest offensive weapon, you never know.
TO is not the teams biggest weapon that would be Westbrook. But with TO gone it would make it easier to shut down westbrook.

It's a combination of McNabb, Westbrook and Owens. Missing one of those three is obviously huge. The Eagles are still capable of winning the NFC title without Owens, but they'll have to play their best unlike the last two years in the title game.

One big thing is that McNabb has to start running the ball when the opening is there. He so badly wants to pass that he gives up great opportunities to rip off 15-20 yard runs, particularly early in games. Yesterday against Dallas, the opportunity was there time and time again. But he didn't run until the game winning drive, and you saw how that played out. If he runs early a few times, the defense now has to respect it more and that will give his receivers a little looser coverage.

This just sucks, though. The Eagles went out and got a true #1 receiver, and now when we need him most it looks like he won't be there. What a shame. This city is really cursed!!! :hot: :wall: :hot:

So now their WRs are actually worse than last year. I hope they go to the SB. Nothing I wanna see more than a good SB and no other NFC team can provide a competitive SB IMO.

Listening to 610wip (Philly sports talk station) now, when the press conf. comes on i'll try to post an update asap...

FYI - Pulled this off the net. Gives a basic idea of the impact of a fractured fibula.Fractured fibulaThe fibula is the smaller of the two bones in the shin, but despite this a fractured fibula is still a relatively serious injury. Whereas a fractured tibia usually takes 6-12 months for a full recovery, a fractured fibula usually takes 9-12 weeks. Should a fractured fibula be treated surgically? The closer a fibula fracture is to the ankle, the more likely it is to require surgery, as the major complication of fibula fracture is disruption of the normal anatomy of the ankle joint. More accurately, if the syndesmosis (ligament between the tibia and fibula) is disrupted in association with fibula fracture, then surgery is usually required. This occurs commonly with fibula fractures near the ankle and less commonly with high fibula fractures. :(

Two things come to mind:1. I think Andy Reid should drop by TO's hospital room wearing a pair of tights to help cheer him up.2. What is up with the Roy Williams leg-breaking style of tackling?

I broke my fibula in May, but also tore a bunch of tendons in there. I was on crutches for 14 weeks before I could put any weight on it. I'm still not back to full strength more than 7 months later.

1. 2. Lavar Arrington has quite the history too. Speed + power = injured offensive players

hey screw off cowboy fans we still going to the bowl
I'm not a Cowboys fan...just having alittle fun...geez you guys are tense. Oh by the way, now's a good time to change that avatar to -81

A couple more thoughts -1. I bet the Vegas early line on the Super Bowl just went to something like AFC -5. Who/what is going to emerge from the NFC now?2. The Madden Curse is now so powerful that it's beginning to affect guys the year before they seem destined to appear on the cover. Manning better watch out.

Reid was asked who would step in and he was kind of evasive. Mentioned Freddie but also threw Lewis and McMullen's name in there.

thats all you ###s can do is make fun of the eagles casue your team is in shambles and blows, who is yur QB cause i forget, the way i see it, last year we didnt have westbrook and and almost won, IMO westbrook is more important and we can still make it to the bowl, westbrook is extremly key to our success and I dont want to see him on the field at all in the next 2 weeks
:rotflmao:

This sucks.I'm not a Philly fan, I don't have TO on my fantasy team. I still think this sucks. What a weird year in the NFL.

Hehe. Such a bummer for you. So deluded that you think the Iggles still have a chance.Good luck."###s?"

Guys, cool it with the name calling, and WFFL...one more "joke" about a career threatening injury to TO or anyone else and you're banned, understood? As to the news, I'm not going to lie, I'm devastated. Every year I convince myself that I'm not going to obsess about the Eagles and football in general as much as I've had in the past, and yet every season somehow the Eagles have managed to pull me right back into the mix and then some.I really can't believe this.

Same here.I am not an Eagles fan nor doI own him in any league. I think it hurts all fans when one of the best gets knocked out.

I was going to go with :hophead: but yours seemed just as appropriate.

I don't get the "you have no chance now". This team went the last 3 years and added Owens, Kearse and a healthy Westbrook. Kearse and a healthy Westbrook should be more than enough to get them past a weaker NFC then they've seen the last 3 years.

The Optimist:Eagles have everything sewn up until the playoffs. We lost last year's NFC Championship with no Westbrook and a hurt McNabb. We have the same team plus those two guys and should be able to get past the NFC chump of the week to get to the Bowl.To returns for the bowl, offense doesn't miss a beat, 2k5 Super Bowl champs. The Pessimist:Freaking Philly teams, champions of the heartbreak. Even our stupid horse sucks us in until losing it at the last minute. The death knell we should all have been looking for.The Realist:We should still roll through the playoffs, possibly a tough NFC Championship game vs GB or ATL. We'll see our first SB in over 20 years. T.O. will return but wont be able to contribute at 100% and the offense will not be clicking like it was after gelling for several weeks with him in teh lineup. We'll have a very difficult time beating New England (who will smoke Indy or Pitt in the playoffs) who has the ability to go vertical and score a lot of points.Outside shot of playing the perfect game and winning, odds on bet to fall short. But I still believe. This is our year, we've just brought a little more drama to the show.

At a Super Bowl title I assume.

Hey Slider, While I hope you're right and will be rooting for just such a series of events, you have to believe that what TO brought to that offense ran deep; and the psychological impact of his loss will be difficult, though not impossible, to overcome.
