Packers-Steelers Saturday Night (1 Viewer)

Can anyone give more detail on Jackson? Was the D stacking the line? Were there holes and Jackson wasn't hitting them? Or was there nothing for him to get? TIA
He didn't impress me much. I think he was looking for hole that weren't there and wasn't making good reads. He didn't break many tackles. He didn't look as good as Noah Herron against the 1st and 2nd squaders. I came away unimpressed.
Same here. He's got a ways to go.

On a good note, which ever kicker is cut is going to start far another team. They have both been killing the ball. So far the competition is pretty equal with both of them hitting between the posts from 55 yards on in.
I'd be okay with them keeping both kickers on the roster and possibly trading one to a team with an injury at some point. That has to be a better idea than two punters at least.

Thanks for the great updates on the players that play beyond the 1st quarter!!

This is why I :goodposting: FBG's because we get good analysis for dynasty leagues!!

The Steelers team D has to be moving back up among the top of the rankings. Wicked.
I do think the Steelers' D will be better this season but keep in mind the Packers' offense is pathetic. Favre and Driver are the only players on the offense at the skill positions who are clearly above-average talent. Jennings could get there but their RBs are below average; they have no depth at WR and their talent at TE is abysmal.
I agree, but they just played the Saints last week and look very good also. Its not really about what the other team is or isnt doing. Because in preseason you never even know if an opponent is trying - or what they are trying. But what I do so see of Pittsburghs players and coaching is very encouraging. It looks much much better then last year and they were an okay defense last year.
I agree that you can't get too excited because it is preseason. However there are two things that are encoraging about the 1st string defense: the pass rush looks good and the CBs seem to be playing up rather than giving huge cushions. The result thus far is the secondary has been able to break up pass plays as the ball arrives. I like it.

Disagree on WR depth. Jones is having no problem getting open tonight and Koren Robinson should be available in September.
You'll forgive me if I'm hardly going to get excited about the possible return of a player who has done nothing but be a major disappointment throughout his NFL career.
 I just love some of the conclusions people draw from one pre-season game.
You need to re-read what I wrote before laughing. I was referring to Koren Robinson. Pretty sure he's had an entire NFL career that can be used to determine his value. Or lack thereof.
KRob was on his way to having a decent career until he started hitting the sauce too much. He had a great 2nd season, but all down hill after that. I still think he has the talent though.
Talent has never been the problem with Robinson. He definitely has talent but his career has been defined by being a major disappointment. He failed badly in Seattle; failed badly as a receiver in Minnesota (though he did shine as a return man) and never really got off the ground in Green Bay. As I said earlier, people will forgive me if I'm not exactly getting excited about the return of a player who has underachieved and failed to take advantage of his talent throughout his career.

After Family Night and last Night, I think Noah Herron has been the Packers most consistent back - which is less than ideal news.

In addition to Jackson's so-so running, he also flubbed a couple screen passes that I remember. That was disappointing after he looked so good in that area during Family Night.

Bubba's done. After Rodgers drilled him in the chest and the ball fell harmlessly to the turf, he looked to be in complete agony.

During the first half, it seemed as if every Rodgers throw was made on the run. As I was mainly watching the ball, it was hard to tell if he was constantly under pressure or just a case of happy feet. He definitely stood tall in the pocket on several throws in the 2nd half that I recall, though. Rodgers was one of the few bright spots on offense.

When will S. Holmes be allowed to play with the big boys? He's the Steelers best deep threat by a fairly large margin...

The Packers haven't faired well against the 3-4 defense as of late. I was listening to the Packer game on the radio yesterday and the announcers (I believe that many Packer fans will agree that we have some very good announcers for Packer games) were stating that the young offensive line looked lost playing against the 3-4. There was talk that on some plays the guards didn't know who to hit and were just standing there.

I didn't watch the game after the first quarter as I had to drive somewhere last night, so didn't see this myself.

Anyway, my point is that I wouldn't take to much from this game. They do not play a 3-4 very often and when they have they looked terrible. Last year's preseason game vs SD, the regular season beatdowns they took from NE and NYJ are examples of what I'm talking about. I think the only team on their schedule they face that has a 3-4 this year is SD in week 3. Gamblers take note, take SD and give the points. I just think we'll see a more realistic view of their offense next week when they take on Seattle.

Of course this is no excuse, and as a fan I'm very disappointed with the lack of improvement so far.

Both teams using spread receiver looks. That's to be expected from the Steelers. For the Packers, they've been going four wides with Driver, Jennings, Jones and Ferguson.
That's only 3 wides. Ferguson is no WR. He's trash.

Talent has never been the problem with Robinson.
No, being a drunk has. If he finally puts it behind him he may have a career. It's up to him now. He has a ton of support on the team. It's a small city so Green Bay may be what he needs.

that's "a town full of bars!" :goodposting:
Not really. Milwaukee and Eau Claire have a lot more.
Which are only a short DUI drive away....

Rodgers really impressed me. He made some good decisions and used his mobility and footwork well. The guy has matured a lot this offseason.
