Palmer going forward... (1 Viewer)

Just read that Palmer has not been as accurate because he is not taking a full step forward. Given his injury, I can understand this is tough to over come mentally.

I would like to hear from other Palmer owner, are you sticking with him? Do think he can over come this during this year?

Personally, as I read the article below I'm leaning on making a move to solidify the position. This offense has really struggled this year. I expected more.

What does everyone else think?

per rotoworld:

After Sunday's loss to Baltimore, Carson Palmer said his mechanics are not where they need to be following January knee surgery.

ESPN's NFL Matchup pointed out that Palmer hasn't been stepping into his throws when people are near his feet. Palmer is currently on pace to throw for 24 touchdowns, down from 32 in 2005.

Nope. Traded for the laser accuracy of Drew Brees and gave Carson his pink slip for the remainder of 2006 just a day or two ago. This ain't the time in the FF season to be "hoping" a guy pulls himself together. Personally, I should have known better.

He'll be a keeper on my team next season but for now Carson's riding the pine. He was a glaring liability on my team.

I trade Carson away two weeks ago in my Dynasty. I gave up Carson and two first round Rooks 07 and 08. Both will be toward the bottom of the draft. I got Alex Smith QB SF, Larry Fitzgerald and an 07 2nd Round Rook that will be in the top 15 possibly #13 overall.

No offense, but it sounds like you got absolutely killed on that trade.

He's @ Indy in Week 15, and @ Denver in Week 16. Those are my league's playoff weeks. I'm hoping for shootouts, and I like the Week 15 matchup, but that Week 16 matchup could get ugly against the Broncos' defense, in Denver...

The fact that it is being noticed is encouraging from my perspective. He has half of a season to correct it.They need a win this Sunday.

Hold him one more week and re-evaluate.

+ He's still on pace for 3700 24 TDs and 12 INTs

Not spectactular but solid.

I think Levi Jones being injured for most of the season so far has somthing to do with Palmer not feeling comfortable stepping into his throws as well.

When Levi returns I expect some of Palmers comfort level to return with him.

He's my only QB, so I live or die with him, but so far, my opponents QBs have outscored him almost every week. Not what I was expecting for a 3rd round pick.

Not really. Denver is very tough to run on but you can always pass on them....just pick their #2 and #3 CBs. Expect lots of 3 WR sets and Chris Henry + TJ to light it up. See what Peyton did to them, then see what Ben Rothlisberger did to them last week. Denver can be passed on easily.

Do you feel comfortable with him as a QB1?
No I don't. His production, and the team in general, speaks for itself. I've been trying to trade him, but at this point there are very few QBs I would take in return. Manning, McNabb....

I dont think so. I gave up Carson, and essentially the # 11 or 12 overall rookie pick next year and probably around the #10 or 11 rookie pick in 08. I got Larry Fitgerald, Alex Smith and probably the #14 overall pick next year. Break it downLarry Fitzgerald is as good or better than Carson

Alex Smith is definatley better than the #10 or 11 rookie pick in 2008

And The #11 or 12 overall rookie in 2007 is about equal to the #13 or 14 rookie in 2007.

Plus I like Alex Smiths future. His 2nd year #s are on par with Palmers 2nd year #s maybe even a little better and Palmer was 24 in his 2nd year Smith is 22 plus he has been playing all year without his freak-like TE Vernon Davis.

When does Levi return?
He should be back this week I believe unless he has had another setback?

Edit for correction.

Otherwise, left tackle Levi Jones (knee), wide receiver Kelley Washington (hamstring) and center Rich Braham (knee) are out. But Braham will begin today to workout on the field, though he has not been cleared to practice
http://frontier.cincinnati.com/blogs/bengals/I thought Levi was on a shorter time table to return than center Braham but both look like they are still out for this game against the Chargers.

Levi Jones was supposed to be recovered by now but apparently he is still not healthy enough yet.

Perhaps next week??

I originally had C. Palmer #1 and M. Vick as my backup.

Since I had been starting Vick in the past few weeks, I went ahead and traded C. Palmer for D. McAllister and picked up Brunell as my backup....

Maybe.......depends on the style of the game. Big Ben just threw for well over 300 yards against Denver. It's certainly possible to put up some numbers vs them, especially if Denver can get an early lead and another team is forced to throw on them.

I don't have Palmer on my team but someone mentioned the center being out and that also being a factor in Palmer's performance. Rich Braham went back to field work yesterday link and might start in a couple of weeks. I think that if the Bengals can get him back in there and the rest of their O-line healthy, they will put up much better numbers the rest of the season.

This is the last week for me on sticking w/ Palmer. If he doesn't "get it done" vs. SD, I'm gonna [gulp] take a chance on Roethlisberger week 11; I'm currently 5-4 (more than likely 5-5 after this week given matchups) so I can't afford to wait for Palmer to get it together...

I sense a bit of a contradiction here. You aren't comfortable with him as your QB1, but there are only a few QBs you'd trade him for? If it is a dynasty, I understand. If it is a redraft, I don't.I think Carson is a great buy low right now in dynasty leagues if you can find an owner who is down on him. He's probably a good buy low in redrafts, too. I like his playoff schedule. Dont' let the Denver matchup fool you - as many have said, they can be passed on. Once the O Line is healthy, I think that offense will kick it into gear. Chris Perry's return hasn't seemed to have much of an impact yet, but I think it will given some time.

I just traded for Palmer and he has put up Consistent numbers all year except for weeks 1,4, and 9. There are not too many QB's better out there. McNabb and Manning are the obvious choices if you can get them. Brees and Bulger are on fire. Hass is coming back soon and has a nice schedule. But I like Palmer better than Brady, Romo, Kitna, Delhomme, etc. I think he can be had cheap as I got him for a 5th rounder in a 5 man keeper league. If can pay off if he gets the line back healthy and starts to step up. If they want to win they need to pass, and Marv is starting to recognize that!

went into the seaon with Palmer and #85 .......... and Caddy in the first. Im leading the division and 4th in points. (due to some bubble gum and scotch tape)

Im sticking with Palmer..... he should be OK the rest of the year. Game 1 was a product of an easy game where he did not have to throw.... he has had a few stinkers but should hit full stride once the playoffs start.

Now Oucho Stinko on the other hand......!he might not last!!!

I just acquired Matt Hasselbeck from an owner desperate for a RB. I will use a committee approach from here on out once Hasselbeck is healthy. Although if he show no ill effects from his recent injury, I may trade Palmer.
