Part II of Greg Cosell Interview (1 Viewer)

I love reading cosell's takes as I think he goes into it unbiased and judges guys purely on his film breakdown, which is top notch.

Great interview.

Great read. I hadn't considered the notion that the Browns gameplan was Greg Little all along. As an owner of both Pats TE's, I am left guessing for a more definitive answer on that workload. I guess I'll have to stock up on TUMS for my Sunday Morning lineups.

I suspect that Hernandez will be used more as a WR than a TE and could be second on the team in receptions after Welker. I also think Ochocinco will prove to be a big disappointment, so the pecking order will end up being Welker, Hernandez, Branch, Ochocinco.Gronk should again be the big red zone threat, but as I see it he will see a lot fewer receptions than Hernandez. Allocate most of the TDs to Gronk and more of the receptions and yardage to Hernandez. Hernandez, if healthy, should be a PPR league steal.

Wow. I didn't expect that pecking order. I had spent a high pick on Gronk (8th round) and as an afterthought picked up Hernandez in the 14th round. Hernandez looks like a steal in PPR. So Gronk is even behind Ocho? Interesting....Thanks for the reply. I'm glad to have them both, and hope it settles itself out. If both produce erratically, I may just start them both and sit one of my flex starters. I don't have much faith in Ocho either in a whole new system and his disappointing preseason.

They will make a concerted effort, maybe even try to force the ball to get Ocho involved. They will go to Gronk if he is open. I would not find it surprising to expect a WR to have more targets and receptions than a TE. Gronk should have more TD than Ocho, so that's a plus.People don't remember (or never knew) that halfway through the season last year, Hernandez was on pace for a 70-900 season before he got hurt halfway through the season. If he can stay healthy, he should be a beast. When Brady talks about Chad's issues, he doesn't even sugar coat it. He states plain as day that Johnson is struggling and is not adjusting well. He does add that things will work out in the end and that Chad is working hard. But for the interim I think Ocho may not be startable for fantasy purposes. I have seen and heard many people say he looks lost out there (and he's had some drops when he did get open). Maybe they are just baiting people, but I doubt it.The issue is that, like with Galloway before him, Ocho is used to running the play as called and on occasion an audible. The Bengals would call a numbered play and he would run it.The Pats call a play that by definition instructs receivers to run any of 3-4 options based on what the defense shows and Brady will often audible to something else (each of which then requires receivers to then read and react at the line and during the play to get open). Bottom line, it's complicated and is part of the reason why the Pats fared pretty well even without elite receivers for a number of years. As Welker has said before, his job is to figure out where the open lane/space will be and turn the right way for the ball to hit him and be on the same page with Brady. If the receivers don't get it, it takes one of them out of the game because Brady won't trust him and risks an easy INT by throwing the ball where he thinks the receiver is but in reality is not.I don't know how long it will take Ocho to "get it" and maybe the Pats will just give him more basic routes to run so Brady at least knows exactly where he will be on the field. To me, that makes more sense than hoping that he will be at a certain point at a certain time, but one would think the Pats would be smart enough to figure that out.It should be interesting how this all plays out . . .

Great work Matt, but I find myself like a thirsty man in the desert who stumbles upon a small glass of water only to say "I need more!"
Don't worry. Four more days of stuff coming.
I knew that, but I find that I wish each interview/article could have gone longer, and that the series was 12 parts (or more) - just because of how much can be learned from this series. Just greedy on my part. I would also love it if you were included in the staff rookie rankings, as I have one draft coming up this week, and two more next week.
